I think some people read this and started to cry. I haven't made it past level 10 yet so everyone that thought they were good but found out someone hit 80 already can now think they are good again. Relax I'm only level 10 :-)

I see this a s a major problem for games.  You get these mega groups like goon squad who zerg in and hijack a game. You and your friends experience is ruined by their sheer numbers. The only thing I could see that would even things up is level caps on crating for the day. Nothing like killing crafting off for everyone on that server before the actual release.

This thread is one reason why this practice will always continue to happen but to be honest I've never been the type to care either way if a person or people (which I have learned is often the case) get their kicks out of rushing to level cap.

What I do find funny is how often GW2 fans use the same arguments that can work for any game but they often deny these same ideas to other games let's just admit we are all turned on by different things while exploring etc may seem like an awesome feature in this game others feel and felt the same way about other games too and guess what? It's ok.

I can't recall which game it was but I remember some other game where there was a rush to end level and found out that more often than not these are people living with roomates who all play the game and often these toons are running for twenty four hourss straight with people working in shifts to accomplish these feats kudos to them if they got their rocks off for it.

The loophole existed during all phases of testing and made it to release. Is it the fault of this guild that they exploited it? Or AN, that they and all their testers missed it and left it out in the open?

Congrats to them and all. But really, no game should ever be designed that allows, by any means, people to level that fast.

What 43 hours in and L80, umm woohoo? And for their next trick?

Still remembering the EQ1 devs stating that no character could hit L50 in less than a year of gameplay, 3 months later they were having to eat a lot of crow.

13 years later and Devs still have no clue of what players can and will do...

I long for those days though.  Even though the devs were wrong, it still took 600+ hours to get a character to 50 in orig eq.  Hell, even Vanilla wow was like 150 hours.  Now, its just shorter and shorter.  Seriously making me sick.

What i dont get is why all these developers dont realize they're wasting 80% of their development time on all this prelevel cap content.

Either A. make it so you have the bare minimum amount of content to support the stupid fast leveling process, and invest that time and money into "end game" content.

OR

Sack up, make the leveling process take a long time, and make it so people actually have to utilize the content you created instead of just skipping dungeons and blasting through quest hubs, etc

Not sure why people are bitching, Guild Wars has never been about some steep grind to cap.

Quite the opposite infact. Stop being jealous.

Exactly!  Fast leveling is a major weakness of all these big MMO's these days.  Leveling does not mean anything anymore.

Definite black mark against GW2 in my book.  Exactly why I am passing on this game.  No challenge.

Well there's a logical post. Ridiculous. The purpose of any game is to experience the content. If someone buys a game and gets to the end by experiencing a fraction of the content, why even buy the game? Why buy a book to read the last chapter only to complain that there weren't enough pages in between?" Why would you not play something because someone did just that when for the majority of the hundreds of thousands or millions that will play they will level up in weeks to months, not in 2 days? For those of us with lives outside of gaming (and Im a casual player that likes to explore, look at vistas, chat with friends, etc), it may take us 4-6 months or longer to get to 80.

This is patently false.  This is WHY mmo's are crap now, because people play them like single player games.

In single player games the point of the game is to experience the content.

MMO's originally were designed about experiencing the content, as well as things like socializing, grouping with other players to do things co-op, role playing, etc etc etc.

Now, every game is solo friendly because god forbid anybody actually have to socialize or co op with anyone.  My time is sprecious i can't possibly fathom spending 5 minutes putting a group together for a dungeon.  oh no.  No, i have to be able to log in, play for 15 minutes and get my carrot because im a casual player and every game has to cater to me.

Honestly it makes no difference there is no real power in being a level 80.  Only reason a level like that would ever matter is in an original Everquest type of game.  Where you have to contend for content and if you can get to it first put a stranglehold on it.  In this case they get a little fame, but it will effect no one in any significant way.

It doesn't really matter if he's level 80, since no matter where he goes, he gets downscaled to the level of the mobs in the area. Besides that, leveling in GW2 was designed specifically to be a quick and painless experience.

Is this the first game that crafting was the fastest way to level?

Anyway, I am quite happy that I am getting to experience all starting areas while still getting experience on my character, not to mention the downscaling to the area makes the content challenging enough to keep me interested. Usually I'd burn myself attempting to expere all the starter areas, which would mean in end game terms a "waste of time". But I do not have to worry this time and I still feel rewarded for it.

A novelty for now, but in a month or two there will be plenty of level-cap characters.

Ok, he hit lvl 80 even before the game launches. So what?

It's not like he ran out of things to do. He still has many hours of content to enjoy thanks to the downleveling feature.

If someone had already completed the 100% of the game, THEN I would be worried.

Yesterday I once again saw proof that people will ignore any amount of fun a game has to offer to exploit or grind their way to the highest possible level:

There was this "Veteran Skritt XXX" event in Gendaran fields that kept spawning every 15-20s or so from the same cave over and over again (might have been a bug), he died extremely quickly, even for a veteran, and gave a whopping 1k+ XP for a gold medal. So before you knew it, there were about 20 people standing in that cave, killing that mob over and over and over.

I came back 2 hours later and the same dudes were still standing there, instead of seeing all the interesting things that were happening all over the place they just stood in one tiny cave, grinding.

Why are people so traumatized at how easy is to level in gw2?

In gw2 your toon gets "Downgraded" and adapted to any zone and content you are facing, so leveling in this game means next to 0

So why is it bad people can level fast?

And above anything else :

Why do you even care about how others play the game?

If you think leveling fast sucks, then do as i do, try to explore everything,  try all events at least once, find cool looking gear and generally just have fun "our way".

His leveling does not break yours.

Just shows how the game has a severe lack of depth to it.  Not suprising though because this is what happens in theme parks.

The problem with this kind of stuff is that these types are the ones that are always screaming there isn't enough content....Also who gives all their mats to other guildies instead of leveling their own characters?
