Are you dodging? Are you kiting? If you're static while attacking mobs you'll get hit. Try running in a large oval

If you are losing 30% of your health as a Guardian w/ any weapon you are doing something wrong. Is your gear degraded? Are you alloting your trait points? relative level of the mobs? |

I'm thinking your warrior friend is vitality trait specced and you're not? I'm not sure, need more info I suppose. I haven't played guardian for release yet.

Originally posted by MikeJezZ From what I understand you have better defensive capabilities and possibly some heals that the warrior lacks. Therefore you have a lower health pool than a warrior to offset the differences. Survivability "should" be equal between the two classes but I haven't played either class to say definitively. |

Originally posted by MikeJezZ Well, They have their virtues, which I am beginning to see as very strong, and they have some rediculous ways to just flat out block damage. Try taking a sword/shield (or mace/shield, but I like sword better)and a staff and use the line of warding from staff, the shield of absorbtion from the shield and flashing blade and zealot's defence on the sword. Throw in some utility skills, some dodging, and kiting with symbol of swiftness, and things shouldn't be too hard.
if you want to use great sword or hammer, then you have to play differently. These are good weapons to use to break up larger groups, and hammers can give a good amount of disruption to enemy skills.
Guardians may have lower health than the warrior, but it is harder to hurt them, and they can do some silly things with their ward skills, should they choose to do so. (protoss) I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote. |

Guardians are mediocre at taking damage and great at preventing it. You should be using your defensive skills to block as much damage as possible. Also, no matter what your class is, rushing in alone will get you killed quite often.

Guardians have low health, high armor. They are designed to redirect/ lower damage on themselves and teammates. If you want in yo face, go warrior, or possibly thief.

Originally posted by MikeJezZ It's not the focus of the class. I have a Guardian as well. It's a defensive/buff class -- probably the best way to look at it -- not a magic using melee DPS class. |

Im seeing a lot of confusion in this thread so let me try to help you out OP....
Guardians do indeed have the lowest health pool along with the Thief, howver you need to take into account your abilities and EHP. If you want DAMGE then using a Greatsword is fine thanks to Whirling Wrath or whatever it is called does very big damage and will be your bread and butter. 1h Sword also puts out some very good damage using zealots defense and as for conditions the Guardian is a bit limited and has a focus on burning. If you spec for a full damage guardian you will put out near the damage of a Warrior howver you have some added perks....nearly every move you have has support type effects built in even with having to spec for them, this is HUGE. SPirit Weapons are also VERY powerful. If a Warrior goes glass cannon he will have an edge damage wise but he gives up a lot to get there where as the Guardian still has tons of team support built into his skillset. Both can go more defensive / support but in this I feel Guardian is superior. Warriors have the highest healthpool in the game but Guardians have more tools to mitigate damagfe for himself and his team. |
