Agreed but I wouldn't want to rush to fast to 80 only to find theres not enough players at that level to enjoy the content.  I'd rather take a normal amount of time and be abloe to enjoy all content at its own pace.

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV.

Racing to lvl 80 is rather pointless in my honest opinion because your going to be missing out on a lot of things the world(game) has to offer to you. For me personally i'll only be rushing to lvl 15-18 day one because that was the highest i got to from BW1 before i started to fool around with the other classes, PvP,WvWvW. Praise the lord that A-Net did some stress tests last week/weekend because i was able to restart on my Warrior and get an idea of how i wanted to preceed when the game comes out such as, what to explore (like after specific quests), get a feel for what the options were for the story (Human only so far), and overall get a better feel for the Warrior class because im stuck between using a Greatsword and a Hammer, both of which are amazing and fun to use, with unique skill sets.

Once i get to that set goal it will be all about doing what ever comes to my mind, whether or not i want to go do some WvWvW, some sPvP, or even start on an elementalist, i know ill be enjoying the game.

Read and watch everything. Visit every landmark, get every skillpoint, craft every recipe. How fast or slow that gets me to 80, I don't care. I've been the first to cap before, rushing to it is career suicide; you get to level cap first then feel like going back and redoing content or making alts isn't worthwhile, because you're so burned out on the marathon you just completed. Taking my time and enjoying this game for a long time to come.

This seems to be dependant on the player demographic you play with.  All the high end competitive pvpers will typically be playing anywhere from 22-24 hours a day during the first month soooo....meh.

I am someone who will be "rushing" 80, meaning yes I will probably go to 80 quick without exploring too much and such.

If the game is right with what they say tho, it means that once i'm 80 I have plenty of things to do, so yea I will go back to lower zones to explore dungeons i skipped and try events I missed and things like that. But at least I know that if something appear somewhere that i really want to do, let it be that WvW may be a bit unbalanced for real 80 , or a dungeon that requires level 75 or watever i'll be  okay.

I will NOT complain that there is nothing to do once i reach 80 tho, even if going into lower level zones makes it "boring" combat wise I will then go and try to get all the exploration achieves and such, but my first aim will be 80.

That's my opinion

Yes but if it goes like SWTOR BGs real 80 will still have a advantage to "raised to level 80" ones, and personally, i kinda hope there is some difference

I don't want to flame, but I do not think you've been the first to a cap in a real popular game, because usually it's teamwork and takes less than 2 days. so you arent really burned out , it is a fun challenge, but like you said you rush content so far, that i dont even mind later on doing an alt...

Do not fear death, Death will come a knocking anytime it wants.

I play on Playing Guild Wars 2 the same way I play ever MMORPG.  All my spare time goes to playing as that is what I enjoy after a long day of work.  Call it rushing if you wish but its not really rushing, I just put in more time then most people.

I spend time working, walking the dog, golfing with friends, drinking, hockey when I can and gaming.

I will be one of the first few to 80 like I normally am.

Sooner or Later

Gear and traits won't be factored in. Higher the level the more powerful gear you get which means you get an advantage, so i don't want to be stuck in the crowd that is under.

p.s - the comment that said PvPers will play 22-24 hours a day....? All because we will be rushing to 80 doesnt mean we don't have work/school. ill be playing for 3-4hours a day, maybe less depending on my schedule.

Because you know every game I've ever played? That's a silly assumption to make following what someone you don't know posted. Teamwork isn't relevant to whether or not it's any fun, that's highly subjective to what you consider "fun" in the first place. I've been the first to cap mostly BECAUSE of tagging along with a friend who wanted it, but I tend to outlevel friends I play with because I work from home. It doesn't take long, but you miss out on a lot along the way. In most games, there's no point in going back to repeat content you've outleveled, and that usually ends up with a game I've been looking forward to coming and going before I've gotten the most out of it.

True, GW2 is different due to its downscaling mechanic, but barely. The journey is half the fun, and for me there's something missing if that journey is rushed.

But GW2 has been built from the ground up to facilitate you going back and doing lower level content while at level 80.

So, with that in mind purposely stunting your leveling is what is rather pointless.

I really aspire to explore every detail. :)

A forum is a place where people can discuss about different opinions. So what I don't get is, how people react offended when they come to a forum and then find... well different opinions. If a different opinion offends you, what are you even doing here?

Yes and no. You'd have the advantage in trait points, but someone half your level who has proper gear will probably still kick your bum if you've rushed to cap and don't have the gear you should. It gets progressively harder to get gear mostly because quest reward gear is skimpy on the stats. The best gear comes from crafting and spending tons of karma at elite vendors, and chances are you can't afford either if you're rushing. Having more trait points will put you at an advantage, but it will be a very temporary one and before long you'll find yourself frustrated that someone lower level and better prepared is rollin' you.

I've taken off from work 8/24-9/3 (actually never taken off from anything for a game in my life).  Plan to rush 80 just for the challenge, but if I don't make it no big deal.

Its good to see that most of the votes goes to take it slowly... the devs said numerous of times that we should take our time and explore-feel the sceneario for a ultimate gaming experiences....

i rushed BWE 1 - i did enjoyed however nothing compared to BWE 2 - there i took my time, waited for every npc dialog to end (cheking if it a chain or not)... spended some time on crafting, exploring.... no rushing....

in the first event i got a mesmer to lvl 20.... in the second one i got a warrior to only 12 due to the time spent in exploring, less lvl progresion but greater character-account progresion (you know what i mean)...

Rushing Guild Wars 2 is like rushing skyrim... its just a bad idea cause you misssed the mayority of the amazing content.. remember the game doenst start at max level like other games... the endgame/game starts once you fininsh your tutorial area
