no dynamic zoom? console conspiracy? and yes i agree with clumsy movement on character what ive seen on videos. all todays games fall in that console crap anyways wich is shame. so valid points and yes you can easily judge game like OP have by one hour gameplay you dont neeed hours and weeks to point out the things he have. |

Originally posted by Razeekster Well it's his impression of the thing, that doesnt make it fact. At least he's consistent. Look at his posting history,
From 7 days ago: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/5180393#5180393 "I expect the amateur writing and abysmal voice acting will turn off a lot of reviewers (and it should), but there will be a lot of good fun and pvp action to be had for people who can look past the terribad story."
And that is BEFORE the 1 hour actual experience
Why he would pre-purchase when he compared the pre-purchase ofGuild Wars 2 to buying a ticket to plane that later crashed in flight is beyond me though. |

Originally posted by sofakingdumb Nope that's still an opinion. It would be fact if everyone was running the game on the same setup and all got the same result, which people don't btw. Even then it would still be debatable on whether it would be fact or opinion. As it is now though it is completely opinion as to whether you like the camera movement or not. Though it's quite clear which camp you are in so feel free to skip on the game and keep playing whatever crap game you are playing. As for the OP only thing I really agree on is the story being the worst part of the game. From what I've seen it really wasn't that great. It might have been better had the focused less on diversity and more on the ac tual story telling. Luckily the story part is a one time deal per character. |

ah i see we are at the 'attack the ops credibility phase...' It's not like humans cant have multiple options that can change on a whim or rational thought separated from personal emotion.

I like how people keep throwing the same complains they heard somewhere even after the problems have been solved/changed. Voice acting, used to be amateurish, about one year ago. Then it was changed and it isn't amuteurish at all. Since April they only made smaller changes to the voice acting. The storyline is kinda corny in my opinion, though.
The performance has been greatly improved, especially this particular stress test, and the difference in performance between low and high setting is quite noticeable, although I've heard about some texture problems here and there (didn't experience them with a Radeon 6850).
Then the typical "this feature doesn't work like in wow!" list. It isn't WoW. Try to play it as Guild Wars 2 instead of WoW, understanding what the difference mean game play wise, like the fact if there is no global cooldown spamming 1 means another skill will have to wait for the animation of the first skill to finish before being cast and that skills with no animation can be cast in conjuction with other skills, even channeling ones.

Cut and stopped reading right there. One hour. The modern internet... the place where everyone feels the need to say their opinion, no matter how little they actually know or the flimsiest most fleeting experience/ impression they have had. And then expect to be taken seriously (probably because it's their 'right' to have one). Well, if it's an individual's 'right' to have an opinion, then it's also my 'right' to dismiss it out of hand because I think it is worthless. |

What are you insinuating? that the ops experiences did not happen? I may despise macdonalds 7 days ago, but today i might be chewing down a burger because i felt like it. Likewise, today i don't own gw2, tomorrow i may. again, What's the point of referencing the op's past history? |

Originally posted by Nitth You think it is irrelevant, I dont think it's irrelevant. It's always interesting to see if people come to a game with a negative, positive or neutral view. If you have a too positive view you tend to overlook any bad designs and wildly attack anyone who disagrees. If you're already determined the game is bad, nothing in 1 hour of playing will change that and posting your views is kind of pointless.
Wouldnt you agree? That's why posting history is interesting in my opinion. |

I don't think it's just that he gave impressions in an overly short amount of time. I think the problem with this thing is that he tried to go over things that take way longer than one hour to judge.
Ok, he didn't like the controls or camera. Cool, that was like 90% of his post. It's possible to form an opinion on those things in an hour. But there was one glaring error. You indeed do not have to stand still to zoom the camera. You can zoom while moving around.
But then there are things that require more time before you simply dismiss them. For example:
Auto-attack is the "lifeblood" of GW2 combat? That is pretty much the noobliest opinion I have ever seen regarding combat in GW2. But it makes sense that he might get that impression based on an hour of play hitting level <5 mobs. And yet, he says they are the lifeblood of GW2 as if he has already formed his opinion on it.
If you want to be honest about critiquing dynamic events, you need to spend more than an hour actually playing the game. That's just how it is. The early dynamic events get more varied and interesting as you get... not even that much later on. He could have spent maybe another few hours to start to see how these things develop and chain.
It's not that he gave his impressions of an hours worth of play that is the problem, it's that he gave really poor impressions because he only played an hour. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

I guess i can agree on that.
That's terrible logic. ever gone into a pub for one drink and come out smashed? Seriously, Im sure there a lot of people going into guildwars 2 betas thinking i dont really like this game and then finding out within that 1 hour that they really like it and purchase it. In fact arena is banking on that for marketing reasons. Why cant the opposite be true?? |

Sort of "funny" how the OP managed to "notice" so much wrong about the game in an hour of play. Not only do I disagree with most of the points being made, but I have serious doubts he could have experienced everything he claims to have experienced in an hour of play. So, color me skeptical that there is anything here but a rehash of misinformed criticisms gleaned second hand from sources that also probably haven't played the game.
