Originally posted by Nitth Oh I definetly disagree. I will not pretend that I am unbiased. I really enjoy the game. All the same, I don't mind negative feedback when it clearly shows you why they didnt like it or even better, how to change it for the better. This shows none of that. |

First of, it was stress test. While in normal beta weekend i would have nice graphic, smooth framerate...etc. Here is had tons of crushes, graphic flickering, framerate being silly and character wierdly flitching all the time.
Second, you are right. Its just another MMO. What makes it special is the fact that its bit higher quality than most (if not all) we seen until now, it is a bit innovative(at least it tries to be) And its B2P It actually costs less than many crappy single player games...
So whats not to like ? |

i dunno while i disagree with the OP ive uninstalled PLENTY of trash mmorpgs based around less then an hour opinion because some games just suck and you know you will never enjoy them. I can think of about 50 free to play games over the last couple of years that I wish i didnt waste time downloading. Also the camera stuff will be fixed , its bugs and they are worked out over time , honestly its pretty polished game for release sorry it bugs you . Try the next event tonight and see if you get further in and can enjoy it better. Some of the heart quests for influence are pretty boring stuff but some are pretty fun , while some are downright hilarious. Personal story I also skip the dialog and just rush through them as Im not a large fantasy reader anyways and they are not the highest of quality, but over all the game is pretty fun stuff once you get away from the first few hearts and get into more events . Also give world vs world a try tomorrow so you can really get confused but see how the pvp is. |

Personally i dont think the OP even played at all, but just gathered his opinion on the world wide web, but then thats just my opinion. Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

Originally posted by MidBoss You can also block attacks aimed at others. I agree the targeting can be a little 'forgiving', I think it is large hit box syndrome. However blocking Los etc work well. OP, As to camera it wasn't an issue for me but I didn't WvW or PvP much at all. I did have to mess with sensitivity a bit. If people have isue with camera 'float' Anet will introduce a switch or slider. They are very responsive to suggestions (that make sense) and are 'masters' of there engine, they make and deploy changes with speed and ease. Only Trion are close to being as productive ( IMHO). As to auto attack and combat, different classes and different weapons play quite differently. I did not enjoy my first day much until I changed class. Auto attack can be turned off btw. Whilst I agree you can get a feel for things in an hour of play GW is fairly different and can take a while to really 'get' (dosen't take long but does take a while). You really need to open up a few weapons skills to '5' and play with a couple of different weapon combos. A couple more hours and you will have a hammer, a saw, some pliers to go with your screwdriver. You could always jump in to sPvP to try stuff out, (you get a full toolbox) I'm resisting that to unlock stuff in the old fashioned way first.

Well for me this stress test was the worst gw2 experience I have had yet out of all the beta we have been allowed to play. So to the op It is usually much better. I had a lot of graphics popping in and out, lagging combat and general instabillity that I never had in this game before but it was a stress test. I also agree that the cut scenes are pretty lame for the most part but the auto attack complaint is based on your own lack of knowledge in the game probably due to the fact you only played for an hour. I'm sure if you bought the game you will give it another go and think you will be suprised at how good it can be.

How fast after seeing a movie trailer do you decide if you want to see that movie? He presented an opinion on what he experienced. you can either agree or disagree. |

I was seriously about to write something for every single point. Especially about there being an opinion floating around there'd be no autoattack... where the hell did he ever hear that? But then I thought: One hour played and criticizing "powerfull autoattack" and "quests are cheezy"? Pressing movement buttons like crazy and then criticizing that the character "looks wobbly"? ... No thanks. Not gonna discuss this. edit: If you're looking for glitches and stuff you are not gonna like in a beta (stress test build no less), you - of course - will find lots.

Originally posted by Nitth The floatyness is there because it allows pinpoint accuracy of movement and animation. Its a tradeoff and one I was skeptical at first but seriously within hte first 5 mins of gameplay I totally forgot they were there. Its all subjective though but theres no way in todays technology can they replicate the freedom of movement they want with their character avatar without having that feeling. Each their own though.
As for the OP, I disagree with everything you stated not because you're wrong but because its personal opinion and I felt the exact opposite in evey thing you said. |

The title of the thread is "my impression of GW2 after one hour of play." You click the thread, and I wonder what you get. Oh! You get a guy's impression of a game based on one hour of play. Aren't you just appalled? This is not meant to be a review. Some of you are fools for even considering it is be thought of as such. |

You sir, deserve a beer Dear developers, In my humble and inexperienced opinion if I can get through all the content you spent the last 5+ years working on within 6 months you have not done your work justice. Please give me, and everyone else, some tools to create our own content from what you have made so I can stay in your world and appreciate it longer than three weeks before I say "meh". It's a shame and I'd rather not do that to something you put so much of yourself in to. |

Turn off auto-attack.
Maybe report on the forums about the camera issue.
Spend some decent time actually playing the DEs and exploring, crafting, PvP, WvWvW.....
Then evaluate the game. See if your mind changes. If it doesn't, congrats, you figured out you wasted $60 on a game. I bet it's not the first time it's happened.
I can't disagree with some of your opinions and I disagree with others. However, they're your opinions so do with them what you will. |
