also another interview they talk a little about post launch content http://venturebeat.com/2012/05/21/guild-wars-2-interview-monetization/#s:guildwars2-16
one question in particular
GB: Subscription MMOs like World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic offer free content updates besides paid-for expansion packs. What are your plans for expanding and improving Guild Wars 2 long-term? Can customers expect any content additions for free, or will they only come in the form of expansion packs? O’Brien: We’ll have both. Players can expect the same level of ongoing support from Guild Wars 2 as they would expect from any top-tier MMO. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg |

But in all seriousness, for the majority of gamers that is over around 600 hours of play time (at most.) That time flies by if you enjoy the distractions in a game (admiring art and aesthetics, collecting, exploring, PVPing, chatting with friends, organizing with your guildmates, doing a DE a second time because it was fun the first time and you just happened to run into it again, etc etc). This is not to mention time that gamers like I waste (i play 50+ hours a week) on things like: crafting, achievements, following and analyzing in game market (i have ADHD and am very gifted with numbers, have been counting cards since i was 8 etc...so its not my fault! i swear! lol :P ), trying to not let my characters die (or go to downed state) at all, trolling trolls in game, etc etc.
EDIT for Icewhite: I just hit my 10,000th day on July 24th! XD Just 8,000 onto pooper check :( |

Either you believe them or you don't, but at least be familiar with what the developers are saying. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

He is just expressing his irritation with this title and its hype. You have to admit, having the "forever" option is very silly. |

ill play until something better comes around but looking at upcoming games I don't see much that sparks my interest as much as GW2 so i see myself sticking with this one for awhile.

People sure are betting a lot on DEs.
DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

The best thing for me is having a game that if I dont play for a few months I can still pop into without paying again Unfortunately all my accomplisments in WOW are unviewable unless paying a sub, 2 sad

Until it gets boring or something better comes out. Need to throw that option into your pole because its impossible to guess how long anyone will play the same game.

I can see Door Wars getting stale very quickly and the DE..I mean..it's a themepark anyway you slice it. I can only imagine the outcry of lack of skills come a couple months into lauch. |

Lol if it helps my grandma touched my screen while I played GW2 it cured her cancer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Originally posted by bcbully “We have a live team of designers and artists and gameplay programmers who are going to be flying over the game constantly, dropping content everywhere” Johanson says. “Our goal is that every time you make a new character, you might go back through a map that you played six months ago and you’re going to find completely different content.” New content, he says, will be spread across the whole game rather than concentrated in specific areas. As this happens, the events already in place will be altered to accommodate it.
What's not to like about this? Oh yeah, and it's free, unlike some games where you get charged $15 for several hour monthly (let's hope) content drops. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |
