funny this guy who obviously barely speaks english comes across clearer and more eloquent than most people i have seen write these sorts of things up.

i'm not trying to joke on the original poster, i mean no disrespect.  thanks for the read.

theres a couple of things i kind of agree with like the icons not being clear enough and the map is a little annoying.  but i have no doubt i'll get used to it or they'll improve it.  its not really a deal breaker for me either way.

If i need to name a few points of Critics for the sake of naming critics to be critics the critics are -_- !!!

1. A few more options in char costimasation,
2. more people in WvWvW (queue can be long)
3. diffrent icons for vendors so i can see who sell weapons and who sell mining paicks etc

Thats it !

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets and lies!

Boy there really is a lot that I just don't like about GW2.  I have tried every Beta and stress test and just cannot understand why people like this game.

-My biggest complaint is the clunkyness of the combat and character animations.  They feel so herky jerky.  I have a lot of gripes about WoW, but I will admit that it has extremely fluid combat.

-No REAL healers.  Sure you can do some stuff like water elemental for some heals but its subpar as hell and just isnt fun.

-Downed state.  I just don't get this.  Especially in PvP combat.  Its like a second chance for someone to revive you or take down an enemy so you can come back to life.  In PvP its just stupid.  I can absolutely destroy someone 1v1 so bad that I barely take a scratch however when I move in for the flag kill I will get rocked! What the hell is that?  I have to be in range to plant the flag and cannot dodge or use skills so I end up losing shit tons of health in the process.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong?  But if not STUPID ASS MECHANIC IS INCREDIBLY STUPID.

-Graphics. Just yuck. Seriously the client is so stable but thats obviously because they didn't put much effort into the graphics.  They are not good for current generation games.  Likely it is to save money due to no sub fee or something?

-Questing. Everyone is so praise worthy over how the questing in this game is revolutionary because their are no quests and you just explore yada yada yada.  It is questing and just because there are some differences on how you complete them and how you aquire them doesnt make it groundbreaking.  Its still kill x and fetch y.  Sure there will always be this kind of quest, but look to TSW at least they showed what could be accomplished through innovation.  On the same note the group quest style for the quests just isnt very good either, you work with people but never really get to know anyone.  Especially when there are tons of people.

-WvW: I can't hold this one against GW2, this is just a personal dislike.  Large scale PvP is stupid to me.  Its a Zergfest.  Skill is quite easily overwhelmed by numbers and I just prefer scenario/warzone based PvP. (WHICH OF COURSE GW2 does have).

-Scenariors: Majority of objectives are cap and hold.  Got boring real fast.

-Limited number or skills: Sure you have Elemental class that has access to ALOT of skills at a time, and every class has weapon swap but a lot of classes feel like playing fisher price my first MMORPG with how limited their skill set is.  Seriously sometimes it feels like its a kidnegardners game.

-No gear progression.  I'm torn over this aspect.  It creates a more even PvP environment and I guess PvE as well.  But this is largely why I stopped playing GW1.  Aquiring "skins" for your gear gets pretty boring for me fast.  I enjoy making my character grow along with my skill and character progression is one of the main reasons why I enjoy MMORPG's over say FPS's.

I understand people like it so far and are hyped for it.  Good for them, I am truely glad.  Finding an MMORPG you like leads to awesome times so hopefully it lives up to peoples expectations.

Well all your points is personal and have nothg to do with game :)

1 Combat and Char animation     --- Also personal   But GW has  almost perfect character animation and sounds in combat so you not just  waving your sword it feels like you hitting.

You say that its his opinion and nothing to do with the game and then say that GW has "PERFECT" animation and sounds. That definitely is not YOUR opinion.

2 No REAL healers   well  its not even personal  Its Game feature you like it or not will not  change a thing

3 Downed state  also game feature and i will never believe  your statement  1on1  kill some1  with out scratch and  person killed you while in downed. Downed state  maybe maximum doing 1/3 of regular damage.

4 Questing  also personal  its QUESTS you get  task you complete it.  you cant invent  wheel  so it will be spaceship. all quests will be same all the time  just  how you get rewards and different ways of completing   may differ. Silly to expect revolution in questing. and  TSW example  you gave... if you hide quest objective and dont explain it fully doesnt make any innovation it just  says its Sub game and they Must try to make their content longer to play  Even if only  way possible is to hide quests  and not making actuall content.

5 WvW  Nothg to say here if its Silly dont play it   :)  just must look at it from different angle its not just pvp and you DON'T need to run with huge groups. pick 4 ppl and do same job but with out "ZergFEST"

6 structuredPvP  also personal   as its not about  objectives its about fun fighting 1vs1  or in small Groups.  Easier objectives = more fun you can get from actuall battle and dont think how to complete  some rediculous objectives. But also very personal point

7 Limited number of skills  Also very personal  point.    if you  person who like quantity over quality  game not for you.  if you Think TSW  has lots of skills  GW  again not for you.   Even Engineer with out ability of switching weapon got  10 abilities which are more than  plenty for any situation.  GW is for people who can think not just read.  tired of explaining to ppl about skills and asking for example of any game with 20+ skills which will be used in single battle or even several. Will just say its personal if cant understand how to use  game not for you. Stick with  4 buttons rotation games like wow.

8 Gear progression also game feature if you dont like it dont play it.  Also it has huge  Gear progression. gear is ten time better at 80 than  at 10lvl + trinkets. you saying about rollyourface gear  not real gear progression. it has nothg to do with your personal skill prgression.  you still will  own any1 in WvW if you have real 80 lvl and they are 1-20lvls in real.  SPvP  different story   its just skill dependant. " Aquiring "skins" for your gear gets pretty boring for me fast.  I enjoy making my character grow along with my skill and character progression is one of the main reasons why I enjoy MMORPG's" Whats the difference between getting  new weapon or getting just new skin for it?   i can answer it :)  you want to  own others with new weapon and show your "power"   and with skin you just glad you have new awesome look.   So again its an issue for some ppl who feel like they MUST get advantage agains other ppl only because they live in game. and want to have special feeling after 2 shotting enemy.

"I understand people like it so far and are hyped for it."   again with HYPE game is not hyped  you played  Every Beta as you said every stress test you TRIED it you SEEN it.  its EXPECTATIONS you talking about.

Learn that your opinion isn't fact and you are actually quite insulting to the poster since you disreguard his opinion instantly and then shove yours down his throat.

The thing I think could have been better is the cut scenes/dialogs. The way they don't actually face each other and the disney like script as well as some of the characters color schemes. Just a bit cheesy to me but other than that I pretty much think everything else is pretty spot on.

My pet peeve is that I find combat pretty borring. however if I played a game just for combat I would still be playing DCUO.

My other is that There is really no hub City as there are 5 capitals and they are all pretty huge. What makes it even worse is that there seems to be too few "porty" stones in the city. Also whoever designed divintiy's reach is on drugs. To many levels make me confused *.*

Cool to read what is good in GW2 but I would like to read what you find not good. Every game something bad and everyone decide for himself whether he will play it or not, this is normal and nobody expect any ideal game.

1. So for me was not usual at first bad customization of faces in begin of the game.I choosed a human, there was quite brutal face, and any changing of this face were not radical, you can correct it but the main face was the same.

Compare with Aion

1, 2 and 3

I actually thought the character creation was really good...too each his own I guess.

2. Movement of the hero. When you make short click in any side, his legs don't almost moving but hero move quite fast.

This is the worst for me, I like to look at details and when legs step on the ground and ground move unter legs faster, when you click in side and again by magic the character moving by itself without any physik laws, all of this makes me this that works is done fast, the produck is cheap and has not a lot of quality.

Again, another example from Aion (put maximum quality and full screen to see better what I mean), the char moving very precise. leg on the ground - leg don't move faster or slower than ground, they are really together.

I never noticed these movement issues in game, but I've heard multiple people complain about it, so I guess there is something to it.  I dunno, I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be, but like I said, I never noticed it.

3. Not important thing but as I told, I like to look at details. The picture, when the world loading, I mean when you choosed your hero and click "play", after appear the picture during several seconds. It is awful, little, not clear and not interesting at all. I could make that pic for 1 hour in photoshop.

Again, to proove another example from Aion. Beautiful picture, very clear, high resolution, you can put it in your wallpaper and so on. To do that is so easy in compare with other parts of the game, for instance with the movement process, but it have great impression, I see, that work is done precisely, all is beautiful and everywhere was guy, who asked himself if it is cool or not. Sure asians are perfect in details but I don't think that other can't do this.

 Yeah kinda nitpicky :).

4. Map. Again. quite not clear, not high resoluted, not functionable. Icons are also very not clear, for example the guy who repair your clothes, what icon on map he has? You will never guess - the broken heart. By first vie I'd not understand it.

Again, my example from Aion, where in last update they did amazing map. The video has from 2.7 update, so it is not new.

But already, a lot of information, exist search line to find NPC, you can write on map in new 3.0 Update, all icons are clear, high resoluted.

Sure, I understand that this is just begin of the game, but in Aion the first map was already better that this one.

The map icons could be a little better, zoom functionality would go a long way.

Despite of what I said, I like GW2 and anyways I'll play it, so you can not tell "go back in Aion if you don't like it".

I really played Aion quite long and I have good possibility to compare these 2 games, that have very good advantages. As I see now, Aion loosing position, but in my opinion in technical and visual work Aion is still better than a lot of games including GW2. GW2 winning by another facts, but not by visual component in my opinion.

It's funny how two people can play a game and notice completely different things.

As my comments above state, I didn't really notice any of the issues you brought up except for the map.  My current concerns would be...

1.  Class balance.  GW2 isn't really balanced right now class wise, and there were a lot of major balance changes throughout the BWE that elevated some classes to major OPdom and nerfed others severely.  I know that most MMORPGs go through a long period of severe imbalance before ever reaching an acceptable level of balance...but I really think this is just more reason to be concerned :).

2.  Inability to change servers even with no active chars.  Once you pick a server, you are stuck, that's it.  Even if you delete all your characters, you cannot re-home to another server.  This kind of bothers me, because it means that, if my friend happens to get GW2 and makes a character before telling me, then we will be stuck on different servers.  All I'm asking is that they let you change your server if you delete all your characters...I don't think that's unreasonable.

3.  Gem/gold exchange.  I really have no clue how much influence the whole gem/gold exchange is going to have on the game.  We have theorycrafted for a long time here, and depending on how things are implemented, the gem/gold exchange definitely COULD have a moderate P2W influence on the game.  I hope it doesn't...

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

Divinity's reach is easy...just two levels.  If you want confusing...go to Rata Sum ;).

ya pretty sure lion's arch is what most would consider the main hub.

not only does it link as you say to every capital city it has portals to every WvW area and the sPvP lobby as well.

Just want you to notice that Aion has low resolution on environment (look at the ground...is horrible) in in order to gain performance. Characters are high resolution though. But in GW2 the grass react to your movement and spells. You wont see that detail in Aion ever.

Another thing is that in Aion the world is very linear, there is always a main path to follow, with invisible walls everywhere. It's what people call "tunnel effect", in the other hand in GW2 the world is completely open, no need to follow the roads. This gives a feeling of freedom you wont get in Aion.

I feel the controls in GW2 are very good and organic, yeah the feeling is different from Aion or WoW because there are phisycs mechanics built in called inertia when you stop they keep going a bit  but you get used to it very fast.

Currently I am playing Rift. I recently got my Rogue to 50 and had mostly Blues and green gear. I found myself struggling to do simple questing in Ember Isle. Anyway, I've been doing a lot of 5 man Expert dungeons, a lot of Zone Invasion events. 20 man daily Raid Rifts, Dailys, Crafting, Fishing, Rep building. Etc. Typical MMO stuff.

I have been building up my character's gear, I am at about T-1 raid level gear with some T-2 pieces working on 2 more to use the set bonus crystals. I enjoy getting stronger, When before, one mob at a time was a struggle, I can no handle multiples. I enjoy gaining efficiency in my questing. I enjoy being able to participate and hold my own in the dungeon "speed runs" I enjoy participating in the zone invasions and not finding my name at the bottom of the DPS meters just below the healers.

Every single one of those reasons to improve my character's performance through gear is entirely personal and only affects me and how I chose to play. At no point does it impact anyone else, except if I am in a 5 man dungeon and I suck because I am under performing. Which is no longer the case.

I don't PVP and I don't do progression raids.

Your comment about 2 shotting.....Is because someone has invested a tremendous amount of time and effort to compete against others who are doing the same thing. They don't 2 shot each other. they are really competing at the same levels. 2 shotting comes in when someone who spent no time building their character goes against someone who did and get's creamed. Then gripes about it. You accuse someone else (baseless) of wanting to be over powered, while your "special felling" is about entitlement without earning it.

At the levels people get to to become OP, it takes time, time, time and then they put in some more time. With all that comes a tad smidgen of skill. While I can tell by your argument that you do not invest this time, and therefore do not have the same level of aquired skill. In this situation, gear matters little. You're still going to lose. In WoW, or Rift if you were given your full entitlement gear on par with someone who earned it, you will lose, in GW2, against those who live in PVP, you will lose. So what will you say then?

I feel that the state of the genre is such that a total and complete failure is needed so it can be reborn anew.
I'm actually hoping this new generation of 8 button MMOs will make that happen.

Man its kind of funny seeing how people reacted to my post, some people got really angry and defensive. The post was of course my opinion. The OP of the thread asked for peoples opinions and I gave mine. Im honestly hoping that people do enjoy the game. I am dissapointed that I cannot return the game. I have always been a competitive player from counterstrike to world of warcraft and even ranked SWTOR PVP. If this game came out back when counterstrike was good i would probaly have been blown away. But my tastes have changed and im looking forward to Archage and Lineage Eternal. Hopefully League of Legends, SWTOR Ranked, EVE, and D3 can hold me over. As for the coment about more powerful items yes absolutely getting stronger, faster, better looking, having more friends, and and becoming more wealthy in real life is extremely enjoyale. For the same reasons its enjoyable in a game. I want my charecter to get stronger wealther and look cooler or else i would play a game like a FPS. Even with equal gear in GW2 you are lying to yourself if you think every class is perfectly balanced. Inequality and advantages will always exist.

Spiritsever - AR/Ele - The Secret World
Ashmaker - Ranger < Prophets > - Age of Conan - #1 in Kills
Sweety - Sorceress < Infinite Darkeness > - SWTOR - 2.6K PvP Rating
??? - Pilot - ??? - EVE
Symir - Swordmaster - Warhammer - RR100
Dreadnaught - Rogue - Rift

Nothing's perfect, but I think at launch that the professions are more balanced than most games at launch.  Even then, it depends on the player.  I respect your opinions by the way, I just don't agree with many of them, particularly the number of skills.  I too was disappointed about the number of weapons skills for a class like the thief who only has access to a few weapons, but I wasn't paying attention to the fact that there is an entire page of utility skills to choose from, and they are varied and extremely useful in most cases, giving each profession dozens of skills to use in combat.  How many actually useful skills do most MMOs have?  How many skills do people end up using in their entire arsenal?  The fact that I've got 4 utility skills and interchangeable weapon skills doesn't bother me since I played WoW for years and didn't use a lot of the junk spells.  Not many rotations employ more than a handful of abilities.

To each his own, but in that regard, I don't think the situation is as dire as some people make it out to be, and considering the complaints about # of skills has almost completely dried up in the last year, I think ANet did something right.
