I agree, the performance leaves room for improvement. In PVE I had a decent performance, but as soon as more than 10-15 players were in close proximity fighting the game broke down to a slideshow, most woefully in WvW, which is nigh unplayable. Mind ya, my computer can run Skyrim in high settings without issues and even 30-man zergs in Rift ran relatively smoothly. I think GW2 runs entirely over the CPU and doesn't really use the graphic card much.
I REALLY hope what people say is true, that is will get a performance boost. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Unlike previous stress tests, we will be actively working on the game during the event, so you might experience connectivity problems or discover features that are not working as designed. Any issues you experience are a result of the rigorous conditions of the stress test, and are in no way representative of the state of the game at launch. By participating in this stress test, you’re helping us make Guild Wars2 a better game. Thanks for your cooperation—we’ll see you in-game! ~RB2

i7 920 @ 3.8 ghz gtx 460 @ 850 mhz running @ 1200p I had all settings maxed, except I turned supersampling off as it almost cut my fps in half. I was happy to see my gpu-usage @ 99% almost the whole time, so they have obviously done some work in that area. My fps was generally between 30-70. I would occasionally dip below 30 in large fights, but overall I was very happy with the performance. Regarding the OP, the game really needs to run well on lower end systems. The majority of MMO-players have rather crappy systems, and if the game doesn't run well on such systems it will never be a huge success. Arenanet have spoken about how they want the game to run well on 5-6 year old systems, so it's something they're continually working on.

I dont know if anyone has brought this up yet but, It sounds like something is wrong with your rig. Hardware wise it should be adequate to run the game fluidly. With that in mind I would be looking at your performance issues from a functional standpoint. First, check your temps. If your overheating your CPU or GPU that could do it. Check your voltages, a faulty PSU underpowering those components could also be an issue. Many other things can cause this type of issue, and no 2 game access and utilize components the same way. So if Rift runs well, dosent mean GW2 will if your rig has issues. Other simpler things to check out, Spyware, malware, ect. On a system with 3gb of RAM, make sure your proccesses are low. (I recommend in the 30 - 45 range for XP) Defrag the HDD, ect.
On a side note, I use 3 PC's for gaming. (My wife kicks me out of rooms at times so it pays to have options) All 3 run the game perfectly.
1. Desktop - I5 2500k, GTX 460 (X2) 8gb RAM @1600mhz, 2TB 7200rpm HDD. (Nothing fancy, but solid on high) 2. Laptop - I5 480M, ATI 6550m, 4gb RAM @1333, 640gb 5400rpm HDD. (Runs solid on Medium. Your system should run better than this one) 3. Desktop - Identical to desktop 1, except only one gtx 460. |

Even tho i have one of the slower CPUs i didnt have any performance issues, not even in asura/sylvari start zones right when the event launched, i have about 2 years old rig (middle end). i5 760, HD5850, 8gb cl7 ram, raptor hdd. there was huge performance patch from BWE1 to BWE2. performance increased significantly. |

Hmmm, there seems to be some people with awesome specs that are getting pretty bad performance, then there are others like me with antiquated rigs that seem to do OK. I have a Q8400 @3.2ghz 4gb DDR2 800 HD4670 Through all the BWEs I was getting 35-40fps on balanced settings @ 1280 x 1024 on my oldschool 4:3 17inch monitor, which is better than I expected I recently inherited a 22inch monitor and during the last stress test was only getting about 20fps on 1680x1050 which isnt good enough at all, but still better than I thought my aging 4670 would be able to handle. Today I bought a 4870 off of ebay for £35 - A nice cheap upgrade that will mean Im sorted for release. All in all, for me, GW2 has performed a LOT better than I was expecting.
Not quite sure what the deal with people getting 10-20fps with really good computers is though.......something not right there. Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom |

Originally posted by Biohunter All good advice. Make sure you have up to date drivers too. Make sure you aren't running unnecessary service, gamebooster is grea for this it shuts everything (service wise) down that isn't needed to run a game, hen starts them when you finish playing. |

Intel CPU Q9650 2 x GTX 295 RAM 4 GB DDR3 OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)
GW2 FPS: 35-40 with lots of stuff going on. Biggest boost to performance was from setting Post-Processing to "None" I also had the setting to a point where it didn't look terrible either but still on the low side of the scale. |

Played in BWE3 and stress test, European. Have a i-5 2500K 3.3GHZ CPU and a Geforce GTX 560 Ti Running windows 7 64 bit with 6 GB of ram My wife has a older but quite same in performance i7 920 CPU, same graphic card but run windows 7 32 bit and has also 6 GB of ram, but due to the 32 bit, just 3.5 get used. We had 0 performance problems in the BWE with the settings all maxed. In the stress test, the gamma value had been lowered to minimum for some reason and everything was really dark, but beside that, the graphics looked even better than before (once I fixed the gamma to default value). However, we did not partecipate in any WvW or PvP. Some PvE events were quite hectic, especially in the Asuran lands, but that's it. quad cores and i5 are far from low end or antiquated, I know that among certain groups they are considered weak, but that's nonsense.
Would be more interested in those with good performance with a core2duo or equivalent. |

I had pretty severe lag during BWE1 and 2, but the game ran like a dream for me in BE3.
