I asked because anet has anisotropic filtering disabled for whatever reason and this makes a HUGE difference for textures more than a few feet away. Enable AF 16x in your video card control panel and you will see a huge difference with ground textures at a distance. |

They did a stress-test it's normal to see bad performance. Will it move picture-perfect on release? on your system maybe not LOL, but they will continue improving the performance with patches. |

It seems it likes a good CPU, during BWE3 I had a core2duo E8400 and 4GB of DDR2 and was running the game at 1080p on the preset Balanced setting and rolling around the 40-50FPS level when out of town. Last week I upgraded to an i5 3570 and 8GB of DDR3 and in the stress I bumped the graphics to the preset between Blanced and Max and more or less was running at a consistant 60FPS (Vsync on). GFX never changed being an Radeon 6870 |

Your graphic card might explain it. Buy a new 400 series or 500 series and some more RAM, 3 GB is not enough. Also a new CPU, like I5 or I7.

The game still appears to be more CPU bound but your i5 even not overclocked would have been auto-boosting to ~3.8ghz when the game was running and you should have been getting MUCH better FPS than 10-35. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. |

I run 2600k, gtx670, 8 gigs of ram, system on SSD (not the game tho). And my FPS was jumping up and down like crazy. 170FPS to 30 FPS span. I would be in the same battleground with same people and get 90 FPS and 10 min later i'd have 30 FPS, and in 10 min 60 so on and so on. Thing is, FPS didn't jump frequently up and down, but it seemed to either be high or low and holding there. *shrug* I'll try disabling the antivirus as someone said it worked for them for massive FPS gain when I next have the chance. But still, don't like that much jumping in FPS, especially if I should have pretty constant high FPS. I formated the system few days ago so it's very very clean compared to what it was in BWE3 but performance was the same on stress test. So yeah, I can safely say, blame the game :) |

Much as I love the game, I can't say the performance is that great. I have a pretty high-end system - i7 2600 Sandy Bridge, 16 GB RAM, GTX 580 and there are times when the game feels sluggish. Not necessarily in events with lots of people in the world, but more in certain parts of the world. Even running at 2560x1600 resolution and max settings I get 60-70fps in most places, and then in others about 25. A few examples of where fps really drops are just outside Bandithaunt Caverns in Queensdale, in the area where the heart requires you to investigate bushes and kill bandits, another is just south of Lion's Arch on the road towards the zone portal, and another is the devourer cave in Plains of Ascalon. I have dropped the resolution to 1920x1600 which then gives me 80fps in most places, but again certain areas even without lots of players drop this to about 35fps. Still playable of course, but it makes me wonder why some parts of the world cause a 40fps or so drop. This happens even with shadows turned down to medium. |

Another thing to consider is that the video card driver might have access to optimizations that the GW2 engine does not. The most common for a performance game in the nVidia Control panel is "Texture Filtering - Quality". Setting that to performance or high performance can make a huge improvement on my system in other games.
Since this is an nVidia setting and not a D3D setting, it's very likely the GW2 engine even on low quality settings still has the filtering set on high.

I'm sorry but your rig is pretty bad, and i can't even believe you're complaining about ANY pre-release game's performance, and i find it hard to believe tera ran and looked up to par with you obviously the fix needed is your pc |
