"Was funny to watch WvWvW. Asura reminded me of Stich from Disney cartoon"
My roommate said the same thing and it's true. Right down to the sharp little teeth. I always planned on playing Asura as my main. I am a woman who loves cute little things like kittens, teddy bears, and yes, even Ewoks. And after seeing the excellent and humorous animations for the Asura, all I can say is " Awwww". |

I'm probably in the minority in this, but the Asura starting area IMO was by far the worst. The quests were slow and some confusing. I leveled way faster in all other races starting areas. I kind of like the little peeps, but with their horrible starting area, I don't think I can do it. |

some quick questions about these little guys. do all the cute animations slow down actual dps and casting or attacking like in so many other games? like in wow, do short people have more problems seeing long distances and over things? can they jump as high and clear obsticles like other races. when it comes to dungeons and evoiding combat and such this is very importantant in most games later on. what are the downsides to playing short aliens in gw2? hehe |

I didn't like the Asura race from GW1, so I didn't expect to like them in GW2. If it weren't for curiousity over the personal storyline, I wouldn't have bothered. I did NOT expect to love them as much as I did. First off, Asura animations should win an award or something, they have so much personality just in their movements it almost makes the other races feel stiff by comparison. The haughtiness was toned down in my character just enough to make him likeable without taking away from the superior attitude. He reminded of Snaff from the books; over-reaching, but friendly. Their starting area was full of interesting stories and had me laughing constantly (Skritt IQ testing was great) and my personal storyline was phenomenal. I did the Infinity Sphere line, and it really had me on my toes. The end of that storyline at 19, I won't spoil, but I was gigglefitting at myself for more than one reason. I'll definitely be making an Asura at launch. To be honest, I was a little disappointed in the Sylvari characters and storyline, they seemed a little cliche, and if Caithe's accent were any more forced she'd squeeze water from a stone. So far, though my starting character will be a human, I think the most interesting and well-done races are Charr (storyline was ~awesome~) and Asura. I love them also, but I was hoping weap size didn't scale down so much with them... I have visions making a war char with a big 2-hander but that's not possible..
Oh well, slyvari it is then.. |

There was something deeply disturbing about playing an Asura Thief - every time I was knocked down, my character would cry out "why won't somebody help me?" shut up, you whiny brat. You're a lvl 30 thief, you've been defeated hundreds of times, have fought massive beasts, solved problems for entire civilizations... but you still whine about losing a bit of health. And because I had a glass cannon build, I was getting knocked down *all the time* |

Now, I dont want anyone to think Im a hater, because I love GW2 however.. It would appear I am in the minority here, but Im just not feeling the Asura. Upto this BWE3 I was really looking forward to playing them and planned on making an Asura Mesmer but I just wasnt impressed. Not going to be making an Asura on release now. The race themselves are great. The character creation is exactly what I was hoping, the animations are great and their stuck up attitude is perfect! THe VO is also top notch (gotta love Felicia Days voice acting) The starting area however, I found to be incredibly dull. It really put me off. Just seemed like I was running around fixing strage problems created by mad scientists. There didnt seem to be any cohesion to the story, it didnt seem to be going in any particular direction, and I really just didnt get the whole inquisition krewe thing. It just didnt pull me in like the Nightmare Court did for the Sylvari, or what I have seen of the other races story. (Played upto level 12 Asura) The architecture is great and looks exactly like it should do IMO but its a nightmare to get around anywhere - I found myself getting lost all the time - a problem that I didnt have in any of the other zones, and Rata Sum was just a real pain to get around.... I kept falling to my death too which kinda sucked. Obviously the Asura are just not for me. Im gonna stick to my Charr Warrior main, and Human/Sylvari Ranger Alt

It looks like they run faster too, but they dont, its an optical illusion cos they are small. FYI, being small wont be an advantage in PvP as the hitboxes for all the races are the same size ;) Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom |
