Why is it that fantasy trolls are vulnerable to fire, but internet trolls thrive on flame wars? |

Agreed. Kinda. I do like it, but awesome isn't quite the right word. Great certainly fits, as does polished, creative, etc. Its a good game, but I think it lands just a hair's breadth short of "awesome". Since when is Tuesday a direction? |

GW2 is IMVPO the best MMO launched for several years at least. I haven't had so much fun for a long time. I am sure I gonna find stuff I hate later on, but based on the 3 beta weekends it really seems like a very good MMO. "Things weren't better in the past. But a lot of things were GOOD, and they would STILL be, if people had stopped the fuck messing around with them!" |

I guess I have my bar a little too high. I think it's solid, I can't go as far as awesome. |

Overrated.
Got into this beta weekend to try it for myself. I'd say it's a decent game, but it's pretty clear by now it's a far cry from what it's been cracked up to be. - vigilo confido - |

Well, as a long time player of Guild Wars 1 back in the day i can say that this is certainly a natural evolution. Thats what crossed my mind right of the bat... That being said, I am quite pleased with the game |

Excessively overrated - or I'm missing something despite looking really hard for it. |

Originally posted by Berikai This, I do believe the game is ok, dus really nothing to impressive. Maybe at higher level the dynamic quest will be more impressive. I really do not feel like playing this weekend and will just play on and off most likely at launch. |

Yeah, I don't know what is wrong with me - but I just can't see it. I mean, this was my 3rd beta and I really tried hard keeping an open mind. I was ready to be impressed by the Sylvari area - and my reaction was just "meh". It's very impressive in terms of scale and creativity - but there's just no sense of art direction that I can appreciate. It looks like someone of limited talent got handed a shitload of crayons and just went wild. As for the actual game and levelling experience - I feel it's just endless repetition of a few themes. Now, the events may be dynamic and convenient for multiplayer - but they feel pretty generic and nothing at all like the EPIC!!!! stuff I keep hearing about. It was also the 3rd story I tried - and though I didn't get far, it's the same old bullshit juvenile writing. After playing games like TSW and TOR - it's really hard to be impressed with that level of crap. Combat feels pretty good and it looks good, but the arsenal is super limited. Weapon switching is all fine and good, but they implemented a significant cooldown and it feels off. It doesn't feel like a natural part of your arsenal - and I found myself having to really force the switch and it wasn't really necessary. PvP fights are overlong and you can never get to finish someone without a team mate interrupting. It feels like a game of attrition and that's not at all my kind of fight. It doesn't help that the game performs quite poorly. I have a very decent rig (2600K, 6990, fast DDR3 ram, etc.) - and yet it runs like a dog in several areas. It will be optimised for release? Probably, but we're only a month away. The last three beta events have had the same sluggish "floaty" performance. I'm not a particularly big fan of "horisontal progression" - but I could definitely get over it, if the game offered something truly special. I just don't see it, and I really don't care if it's a good deal or not. I'm looking for a strong long-term MMO, not a good deal. I can get better deals at a Steam sale - and I'm not buying there either. I only have time for so many games, and I need them to be special. This isn't - at least not for me. |

Originally posted by DKLond I found the Sylvari starter area to be very poorly done, but do remember this is the first time we are seeing it. So there still a month's to fix, based on feedback. Other areas are better, but having previously levelled several characters to around level 20, one does tend to hit barriers in what to do before being able to progress to the next zone. |
