Not quite. They have stated in their 'state of the game update' yesterday that they are releasing new missions in every zone on a monthly basis.

Me:"I am going to make the best mmo that is going to kill WoW", yep .....

When we see the monthly content coming every month for 6-8 months we can say they delivered.

About your WoW comment.  TSW fans don't think it can compete with WoW.  TSW is a mature game, not for kids.  It's limiting itself right there based on its target audience.  This also means it can't compete in large subscriber base because it's not a game everyone can play.

Now about your I'll believe it when I see it part.

Your statement was already predicted by me in another thread about what the haters will say about the State of the Game post.

I'll tell you what.  Go back and read what he wrote again and what he wrote after that in the official forum thread in General.  They've been holding content back to advance the storyline monthly.  That's how they can drop cutscenes and the like.  They have content months out already nearly or fully done.  This is their way of justifying the monthly sub.

Red, You don't say ..... /facepalm

Green, What a great developer, not given you the full product that you payed for.

hmm.... well actually its good to hold back.... it creates a better orgasm in the end :) in this case we are talking about games.. but if you think about it.... no girl wants you to just stick it in and start plowing without any sort of intimacy and fore-play. To hold back a bit works to your advantage, giving you the versatility necessary to give your mate the ultimate orgas..... oh wait, I am talking to a teen who doesnt really understand... nevermind..... move along youngling, go back to killing x and turning in y

How funny you say something like that.

1. I don't play mmo's

2. Im 18 years old, you think people in my age are stupid, go take a IQ test, i know it's not going to be higher than me but try take one.

Anyone who says its not, is just being cynical and probably dislikes the game for .

Or they see it for what it is and that it's the same old collect 10 rats crap.  While they are intresting but it really is a repeat of the same old quests that have been done over 100 times.  They provide an intresting twist with investigations but all in all not the greatest questing experiance.  in fact found it rather boring towards the end of Kingsound as it became a "been there, done that" kind of thing and it closed off the player to everyone else.

so watering plants for hearts much like GW2 is your cup of tea? ridiculous..... lmao

You DO NOT have to water those plants you can also feed cows, kill bandits, fight off worms, or put out fires in any combination you choose and your reffering to ONE quest which is practically the first one. If you water the plants they grow, if you feed the cows they follow you around with little hearts, If you put out the fires there well put out and dont light right back on fire for the next player to put out or end up bugged by the last player. The world responds to your actions in it. TSW could learn a thing or two IMO and vice versa...

So, for the OP:

I don't think it is the best. I don't think it is bad, but it isn't the best. I liked the investigation quests. Those they did right. All quests should be like that. Less hand holding. But the rest of the quests are all "Go to the blue circle, kill x of these, collect y off of z, click on glowy object A B and C, or deliver package to random NPC D"

FC did a little better job with the quests Text than some other games have. They were at least worth reading. But for the most part they were still all "Kill 10 Rats" quests.

Overall, I think they are about equall with the rest of the MMO marketplace.

Until someone finds a way to have multiple paths to the objective, all of which require a different sub set of skills to achive, but are all also equally viable, then quests wont be good by my definition.

Comparing to other mmorpgs, yes it's the best system quite easily imo since for the first time I feel like it is different at all. Sure there's the basic kill missions, they have to be there, but even in those quests usually are steps where you do something else too. Investigation and the sneaking missions are particularly fun for variety.

Also the questing structure is fun where you are not supposed to take a shopping list of quests, but to focus on few and stumble on new ones while/after doing them.

I'm not very satisfied with the combat system, it'll do for now at least, the hotbar should have at least 1 more active and passive imo, and the animations, effects, visuals, all should be improved upon, having said that, if the game also had basic kill 10 pigs quests like most of mmorpgs, I would have already quit TSW. That's why I quit TERA very swiftly, that's why I quit RIFT back then, I cant take the same gameplay with the same quests with the same questing structure anymore, ESPECIALLY if it's a fairy-fantasy setting. The questing system is fun and makes the game feel different along with the setting and char building.

Dungeons & Dragons Online beats it and every other game easily.

I wondered if someone would bring that up. Not my type of game but from what I saw of it and heard from others who went deeper into it, DDO has these type quests already. Puzzles and things where you have to think like everyone is saying about TSW including traps, etc. But I guess folks just dismissed and forgot about it or something wishing to claim that the game they're enjoying has the best of this and that. Folks need to realize most of everything has been done before somewhere even if not a triple A mmo. It's probably out there somewhere.

In the end it is all subjective. Like the couple of posters saying yes, and that it is superior to GW2. That's their opinion. Not fact. Same goes for me as I found TSW boring personally and enjoyed GW2 much more. That is my opinion and not a fact. Just because one feels it a way doesn't make it some actual true statement so not sure why some wish to act as if their feelings are the way all should feel. If folks think TSW is great and love it then more power to them. Keep on enjoying it. But kind of pointless trying to shove your opinion down our throats as if to say 'We're right and you're wrong!' TERA was the same way when it released and well...a month later...nada.

So just play what you enjoy and go at it.

For me yes.. its some of the best fun i have had questing in an MMORPG..

I am sure its not for everyone tho :) same with any game.. i mean GW2 totally bore the hell out of me and i really have no idea how its so popular.. but then again i thought the same about wow..

TSW has the best questing of any game since Asheron's Call.  My favorites have been "Gravity", "The Cost of Magic", and "The Castle".  Love me some Metal Gear Solid in my MMO.

TSW has one of the worst made questing system in a mmo, it might be fun be who cares, you can't repeat the "fun" stuff more than ones and if you make alt's you will do the same quest over and over again.

To busy playing GW2 to post much around here... *shrug*

7/11/12 4:03:07 AM#76

The questing system probably isn't the best, but the quests might be among the best of any MMO released to date. I haven't seen many investigation missions in MMO's, only in SPG's. I'd expect the GW2 system to be superior to the one in TSW however. If the "quests" will be better rmains to be seen.

I voted yes even if it's only half a yes, well maybe, remains to be seen.

A lot of quests in TSW feels like a short story that could stand on it's own. I love the writing, the props, the atmosphere and the sound. I like how they mix in a lot of different mechanics into the quests so it's much less repetative than other games I have played.

Nope, try coming back with an informed opinion once you play this without just scratching the surface, liar.
