The mobile platforms are quickly catching up to the PC. I just downloaded Heroes Call for my Android tablet and was pretty amazed by the overall depth of the game. There are many others that have released in the last year or so that really blur the line between mobile and pc gaming. While mobile gaming isn't quite there yet I think with the release of the Microsoft Surface and the next generation of Android tablets on the horizon we are going to see some pretty amazing things come out of the mobile market in the next few years.

These mobile app games are definitely coming into their own. I'm also sort of amused at all the Diablo-style games that are coming out now, for a variety of platforms. Almost as if to fill a void...*whistles innocently* "Forums aren't for intelligent discussion; they're for blow-hards with unwavering opinions." |

End of 2013? that's a damn long wait for a mobile game. |

Come on, these games are primitive to what is available even on consoles. Not to say they are not fun, but the mobile hardware has a long way to go before it comes close their larger cousins. |

Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody the power, the other to crave it. |

I am confused about the release date mention as well. They mentioned at E3 it would be out relatively soon. I didn't realise that meant a year and a half. |

Originally posted by burnisback Not really. The iPad is just now catching up the the current Tegra 3 Android tablets. The iPad 3 is equal to the current generation of Tegra 3 powered Android devices. Does that make it bad? Not by a long shot but it doesn't make it any better either. What I was referring to was the gext generation after this current one where the lines between mobile and PC gaming will become even less defined. The mobile hardware market is where Moore's Law is in full swing right now. Devices are becoming obsolete before they even hit stores because of what they have already developed for the next round of devices.
Apple while still very much a player in this market is loosing ground fast. Their commanding technological lead in the mobile markets has dwindled rapidly and in some areas has already been surpassed. Apple has always had a problem keeping ahead of the competion where technology is concerned but has always made up for it in marketing. It will be very interesting to watch just where Apple stands in these markets a few years from now. They will always have their die hard fans but more and more people on the fence are going for cheaper alternatives like the Kindle Fire and some other entry level Android tablets.
Edit: Oh and that game vid I linked is actually on Tegra 2 powered devices. It's a generation behind the current one and it looks and plays amazingly well. It's about equal to Diablo 2 in graphics and content which is simply amazing for a mobile device. There are others as well like Hitman, GTA III, Hero of Sparta, Need for Speed and many others that are looking just as good as their PC counterparts. With the Tegra 2 the Android tech was about 10 years behind PCs. The Tegra 3 closes the gap to about 5 years behind. You can just imagine what the next generation will bring.

Current MMO''s pale in comparison to the glory days of MUDs. |
