TSW will almost none impact on GW2, TSW must "fear" GW2 not the contrary. both are great games but GW2 have much more attenttion/hype/etc.

It's not even about hype or attention. It's about TSW's content nature.

In two months, many will have played through the totality of TSW at last once, just like it happened in SW:TOR. Those people will be looking for something new to play.

You keep saying this and ignoring there is WAY more than the 150 hours of story content. there is 600 hours of the ability wheel alone. Not to mention investigation, sabatage, faction, action, and side quest, or the lore and achievments, and elite mode dungeons and PVP. By the way a upcoming raid too. Oh and the best crafting on the market. (next to eve :p)

Oh yes, sure - exactly like SW:TOR - Bioware promised countless hours of story content too. And TSW has even less.

But we will know soon enough ;)

You're right. It's true, but i'm still waiting for somebody to explaing this apperantly infinite amount fo content GW2 as. In fact TOR actually had alot of stories to see, but that didn't players decided to stick around. Still waiting to see how this is any different in GW2. And yes, it's no different in TSW.

Indeed, only one way to find out! Wait, play it and we'll see soon enough.

This is just launch for TSW. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that TSW will have a major content update right around the corner from Aug 28.

edit - I've been playing hardcore for 3 months now and still wake up every morning like "I need to do X"

I wasn't going to but I had to. While I don't disagree that TSW appears to have a decent amount of content, I had to chime in  a little on this comment alone. TSW's crafting is by no means best on the market and while this is something that can be chalked up to opinion, it's hard to beleive a craft system as shallow as TSW's can be seen as the best. Not only are there no real crafts to choose from, but the system doesn't offer much in the way of economy and social building due to the make and break style they have in place. Hell, crafting isn't even mentioned on the website when looking up information and there is probably a reason....  it's nothing to tote about.....

And although the game may have plenty of story, the system has little in the way of replayability and longevity because of the way they built it. I can honestly say that TSW poses no threat to any game, be it GW2 or another title you may be watching. It is fun for now, but I dont get  a feeling of home when playing it, it's a lengthy visit at best.

Let's ignore the fact that GW2's world is just at least 5+ times the size of TSW... and that's just the beginning. Actually, even SW:TOR is at least twice as big as TSW.

But let's ignore this... all this shiny newness is still blinding us for now. We'll meet again in a month or two ;)

Bearing in mind that GW2's main income will be from box sales they would want to maximize the opportunity and look for an ideal release time, so soon after the release of TSW could prove very damaging for the box sales.

With time a lot of players will get GW2 but releasing so soon after a good releasing AAA title can not help intended sales, they have waited this long another month cannot hurt.

Misleading title.

And I fail to see how TSW would have any impact on GW2. On the contrary, I feel TSW has gotten many players it normally wouldn't have, had GW2 come sooner. The two games aren't even close.

The only reason TSW had a decent release is because there is "NOTHING" worth playing atm. So as the saying goes.. Something is better than NOTHING. I even considered trying TSW, but after one beta weekend.. Id rather poke out my eyes with a dull spoon, seems like a lot more fun.

+1

Saying that TSW is a threat in any way to GW2 is pure LOL

+2 could not agree more and I'm of the opinion the OP is just a TSW faniboy and trolling as he feels a threat from GW2 as it draws closer and it will make their servers lol pop when it opens.

I think this is the main issue that I had, and the main concern that people at Funcom should have.

The story, played the first time through, including all of the sidequests that I could find, was enjoyable. It was good, solid content. Most of the game played like a single-player game though you did need to group to do dungeons and some areas of the later maps really seemed to need two people to complete some missions.

But once you're done with that content, I would guess that most folks won't want to go back and redo old quests, especially once they reach QL10 when everything but Transylvania becomes more or less irrelevant. Funcom has said they have 7 years of story planned, which is great. What they haven't said is how quickly they will be pumping it out (despite assurances by some posters). The only real data you have is how well Funcom supported past MMOs in terms of bug fixes and content delivery.

Having said that, I think the game may be worth buying, even assuming you only get 1-2 months out of it.

ANet has stated that they will have a team of developers working post launch to replace DEs in all zones, and since there is downleveling content does not become irrelevant. We have also seen how they can implement events that impact huge areas (as shown in their BWEs). We have seen that they sold large, regular expansions in GW1. We have seen how large the GW2 map is, the 5 starter areas, and the multiple leveling paths.

Obviously we haven't seen this in action, so for right now, all we have is our best guesses for each game as to how well they will support their products post launch and keep people engaged. The big difference, though, is that GW2 doesn't charge to access their game on a monthly basis once you buy the box.

"Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

TSW its a completely diferent game and GW2 sell by itself, cause the game its already working fine and without so many critical bugs.

So, 8x5=25? (Not count hub cities which don't have content)

GW2 has about 3 times more content than TSW. I never did and never will deny this, but you keep avoiding the question. See, i dont' rush anything, but the majority of players does. They buy a game, go crazy, play insane amount of hours and fifnish most of it quicly. So, let's say you're right. Most players finish TSW in a little less than 1 month and leave. What makes you think the same won't happen to GW2 in 3? Not to meantion this as been happening, since, oh don't know, ever.

See, like i said before, just because content exist, doesn't mean people stay. SWTOR had tons of branching paths in it's stories, but it got too reptetative and boring. So, ok, there's different paths in personall stories, dungeons, some events i left behind. Cool, but, after players levels a few alts to 80, explore all the areas and finish up on ost of it, what's left unlike TOR and otehr mmos.

Hell, without paying a sub, why would anybody think "Well, i'm tired of this game. There's a path in dungeon 3 with some cosmetic gear i don't have. Guess i'll ddo it instead of just going away". The content might be there, but bit was there in TOR too.

Maybe PVP will save the day, but wvwvw is still an uncertain card.

The sooner GW2 releases, the sooner they will take others away from all the other MMOs. Seems logical to release on time. :)

Yay misleading title. In any case, TSW is just a hold-over until GW2 is released. I'm playing it now, and it's a fun game, but I doubt it'll have much lasting appeal.

@ n00bit

You said it best, also for me its a hold over..

See I think TSW had to release this early when you got the 2 big guns later this year (mists and Gw2)..

Heck to even, get the wow fans more excited blizz are debuting the mists cinematic a week before Gw2 launches..

I just can't see much replayability in the TSW, and there AP system is kinda to blame.

GW2 and TSW go for 2 different audiences - no reason to postpone.

TSW, from what I saw in 2 beta weekends, will not impact GW2 at all. I mean a CS and monthly fee? If anything TSW should be worried about GW2.
