Hmm. I don't even know. I prefer to use original universes because I feel most universes do not convert to MMO format well at all. Probably the thing I always wanted was a Star Trek MMO. But not like Cryptic has screwed it up, but in the spirit of the series. Multiple player ships that you can customize, people assigned to different positions (captain, combat, medical, etc.), include all the politics that occur in the universe, have a complex space system, decent implementation of ground activities that are not just reduced to combat (kind of like TSW, maybe?), large explorable planet areas, meh... obviously, a proper Star Trek game is a double game and that's pretty heavy on resources, but it's Star Trek, for God's sake. Originally posted by Wakygreek Nothing, IMO. I tried to read it and got halfway through the first book, and nothing whatsoever happens at all and there's nothing to get out of it. Even the characters aren't even remotely interesting... |

Originally posted by FredomSekerZ There *is* already a gundam online game, abate in SD form (SD Gundam Capsule Fighter). The enviroment and mecha graphics are on the simple side, but the game is fun. It does capture the feel of gundam combat with melee, range attack, sniping, and unit specific special moves. Personally i am having fun with the game. Note: It is NOT a proper MMO with a lobby and all instanced PvE missions and PvP areans. It is more like Diablo 3 in concept (graphics/combat of course is different) than a MMO. |

Another game I would like, but based solely on the original movie is Highlander. For me that movie was as epic as Star Wars until they butchered the story in the following releases. |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus This is a pretty good idea. I wouldn't mind a real mafia mmorpg. Maybe even a post apocalyptic zombie mmorpg, with some of that dayZ harshness. |

Pathfinder! Oh wait we are getting it. Death Dealer books. Everything else I would list has been done and failed. What we need is a good developing company first to make the games right. |

Originally posted by MMOGamer71 Sure you could...if you wanted to be wrong. LOTR was not the first, Conan came long before it and the Genre's roots are from Alexandre Dumas novels like The Count of Monte Cristo, Three Musketeers...all of them quoted Arabian Nights as what influenced the creation of the sword and sorcery genre and the writing of their stories. |

Real life event: Britain and the land around it 1066. It could make an awesome gameworld with vikings, normans, celts, saxons, angles, scots, picts and cunrus fighting for supremacy against eachother. Think it rather sandboxy were guilds and alliances could build towns and forts, and crafters could plant crops and herbs, raise cattle and mine. As for transports players and guilds should own ships (horses should be more for battle). Imagine a longship piloted by 1 player and getting speed by having players rowing it. Mix in some themepark PvE, mainly DEs of the type GW2 have but a bit more random in placement. No levels, no magic, no healing (but auto-healing after each combat to cut out downtime), no friggin fantasy whatsoever and a rather bloody combat system that is based on your weapon with a dynamic skill bar that differs depending on what attack you did last and whatever attack the opponent last hit you with if any, all based on actual melee combat. For advancement something close to Everquest 1 & 2s AAs, points you get for certain achivements which can buy you certain things, and a seperate AA point system for crafting(which mean you get points for crafting a rare item but just once for it, for discovering a material and other craft related things). And of course high customization on crafting so real mastersmiths using rare materials actually can craft items them theyselves name (like Attilas meteorite iron blade "Mars" IRL) and decide how they look based on the mats they use and skins they unlocked with crafting AA. I have plenty of more ideas for that but it would turn into a wall of text. I also have an idea for CIV styled games which have tiers depending on technology so your character starts in the early stone age and moved to the early 19th century by crafting or defeating challenges. That one would be rather gear based though. I am tired of fantasy MMO and some historical games without magic and healing but with a kick@ss combat system would liven up the genre. :) |

Originally posted by rdrakken I would go even further back, the Gilgamesh saga is the oldest fantasy story followed by the Oddesey. Arabian nights were influenced by then. But yeah, Howard was together with Verne and Doyle the creator of modern fantasy. Conan have influenced western fantasy a lot. Tolkien based his stories on Norse mythology mainly however with some mix in from the British isles. Conan is based mainly on Irish mythology (Conan is actually mentioned in old stories and is said to killed a Fomori called "Balor of the evil eye" so he can possibly but unlikely be based on a real person). |

None. I firmly believe that fiction should be designed around the game and not the other way around. Original IPs are best for MMORPGs. Also you can't disappoint existing fans. There's no-one comparing and complaining how and where the game differs from the fiction and how the game should be. Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. -Author unknown, attributed to Mark Twain |

Probably Stalker, though it already has a single player series that is kick ass, or Shadowrun. "This is life! We suffer and slave and expire. That's it!" -Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) |
