OP, the reasons above are precisely what makes this a good choice for a back-up game and are my personal reason for not bothering with it until some time after release- once I've gotten a chance to try it out live.

From everything I've seen this is the biggest positive of the level scaling. On the PvE side one of the largest draws I've seen from reviews/impressions is exploring- that along with not having to play "catch-up" should draw new players where games with gear grinds would cause new players to be apprehensive to join far after release.

Originally posted by pierth You can always create a new character. With the way Personal Stories (and DEs) are presented you can have many characters and experience different content. Also, I'm sure most of those who reached 30+ level during the BWEs missed a lot of different DEs from the previous levels. What I'll do often, is go back to previous zones and find out new DEs, or how to start a DE I liked, but I participated in, while it was ongoing. Finding all those can be a nice way to increase longevity. Other "reasons" to come back will be the holiday events, Anet devs already said they are going to follow the trend of GW1 in that regard and have many "special" events, new year, halloween etc. Monthly achievements can also be a reason to "replay", giving more incentive to do more content or maybe gathering more influence for your guild by doing the same content but with more Guild mates (the more guildmates participating in a DE, the more guild influence). It is true that there is no repeatable content to do, except for PVP, and the PVE content will run out soon. I sincerely hope they make very well designed events (last BWE was proof they can do it) so people will come back for them. Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums |

Originally posted by Elesthor I can see this. It's asking alot for it to be as good as WoW arenas were pre "no rankfor weapons." If it is as good or close, your right this will hold a lot of competitive pvprs, but rewards were a big part of the WoW arena system... idk |

Originally posted by cooper85 In sPvP there are rewards in the form of cosmetic items. New cooller armours and weapons for you to wear. They give no additional stats but they are something I'll look forward to. |

Originally posted by cooper85 I find the highlighted part funny. Why? It is because I see more of GW1 in in GW2 than TOR. TOR was unidimensional and boring - GW1 did have other things to do all the time - different celebrations, etc. All were fun to join. ALso, they have the Crystal Desert and 2 other continents to develop into the GW2 story and beyond. GW1 had 2 other games and one expansion pack come out. I am assuming they will do the same. Don't like the game - don't play it. It just seems you have made up your mind and want people to convince you otherwise, I won't - enjoy what you are playing. |

The no-sub thing makes a big difference. Think of it as a free option to re-start playing at any point in the future, which (just like a financial option) has a definite value. Remember that there will be expansions and other new content as well. |

As a PvE player I don't expect to be playing this game much longer than I did SWTOR (2.5 months). For some reason gaming companies have gone away from the long leveling/character building times and thus we are stuck with 2-4 months a pop per PvE Themepark game.
Luckily if I really want to play a game for a longer time there are still the old school games around that I can play for extended periods of time. |

EDIT: "Will I be able to last more than 2 months PvE'ing in PvP game?" <---- most retarded question evah. my answer to OP is: Go and look for some PvE game. I think there are more chances for You PvE'ing longer there.

Hmm, I didn't buy GW1 because it was called a PvP game. However, I've heard there will be some interesting PvE in GW2. I wasn't aware that GW2 was a game only for PvPers. This is new information I may have to consider. |

Originally posted by Mardukk It's imaginary information, don't stress out about it. For a while, people were thinking GW2 was just a PVE game because that's almost all they talked about. Mostly just to counteract the whole 'Oh, GW1 is just a PvP game' thing people were thinking. There's plenty of both PvE and PvP in GW2. Two kinds of PvP, and a variety of various things to do in PvE, like crafting, dynamic events, exploring. There's only 4 maps for WvW PvP and 25 maps for PvE, for example. Now, it does have a stronger focus on PvP than a lot of MMOs, but the consensual sort, and half their PvP is ESport style. |

There aren't many games that keep going after 200+ hours of play time. Anyway, the OP sounds like they are PvP focused and they are not going to enjoy at least half of GW2. If the money isn't an issue, then I'd say play the game for as long as you enjoy it and move on. You may find "that" game where you spend months and months playing, but you're going to have to play a bunch of games to find it. May as well get started with GW2. Join the League For Gamers. |

For me it's a question of was it worth my money. I have bought some bad games before (brink, space marine, diablo 3) and that certainly wasn't worth it. I have gotten more hours out of the beta weekend than I have for other released products. They aren't bad games necessarily, just not worth the asking price. GW2 I feel is worth my money. Skyrim was worth the money. Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

Two months of entertainment for the cost of the box is definitely worth it. Plus I think GW2's PvP will keep most pople entertained for quite some time beyond that. If you're really concerned about PvE longevity you may want to keep a sub going for another game
