Oh, crap, it's 6 AM already... That sums up what I think about GW2. Take a complimentary "Not your kinda game, good luck with another title". However, i do say I am amusing by the contradictions in some posts here. "Game's too easy, Melee dies fast", "I want a mature game. I miss WoW arenas/battlegrounds". My advice is: 1 - Go oddball. I messed around with my skills and ended up with some immensely fun to play builds. No, they don't one-shot anyone. But they are engaging to play with. 2 - Don't feel you MUST take part and complete every DE that pops up in 10 miles around you. Work your objectives. 3 - Find decent company, and go WvW. Winning is just a nice bonus. I died my fair share and I was giggling like Julie Andrews all the way. 4 - It's a game, not a marriage, not a sibling. Now let me try to sleep before I decimate my whole Saturday with GW2. |

I feel you OP, I kinda feel the same. Having disliked my time in the previous Beta Weekend, I thought i'd give it another shot, as quite a few people are raving about how good it is. I did have more fun than I did last time, and i did manage to have 20-30 extra FPS which was great. It's just not for me though, there are a variety of reasons, but the main one is the questing system. Like you said, I think it is repetitive. I hate having to grind mobs to level because you've done all the hearts for your area and you can't find any repeatable quests events to do. I ended up Alt+F4ing. Perhaps I'm just fed up with the genre? That is what I've seen fans of the game suggest if you raise such complaints. PS2 and Titan are the ones I'm interested in now, it's funny because, one and possible both are not even RPGs... |

Three threads about the game being boring already? This is another dud, go figure! I have to say, I haven't played the game (yes, you can stop reading here) but I followed several gameplay broadcast and I was very surprised to see it wasn't anything as it was suspposed to be when you watched the trailers and the previews. Ah well. Now let's wait for the usual procedure: 1 - Fanboys: games is great, its' your fault you don't like it. 2 - Game sites: 9/10 3 - ex Fanboys: i was so excited about this game but now i realize... |

Originally posted by Metentso Uhm. I don't think there's a game in the world where you can't find a bunch of people who don't like it. It'll be a dud for some people, and some people will like it. People have different tastes. If you're waiting for the MMO that EVERYBODY likes, and nobody can say 'I'm bored of it', then... well, you might want to look into cryogenic sleep until they come out with an MMO that has a direct mind interface and actually simulates you taking drugs, assuring that all peple who play it love it. (Or die, which leads to less forum posts from them).

Swtor fell flat for me only at max level ... but by gods, despite having the incentive to write a blog about my GW2 beta experiences, something I really enjoy doing, I can't and won't force myself to play this game any longer. So here's my blog entry: "An intensely shallow mmorpg in a very attractive package." *is off to play some Fallout NV* |

I don't think this is going to happen with GW2. It's different from SWTOR where the arrogance came from the developers. Seems GW2 devs are being decent (i'm not following them too closely but that's my impression). With GW2 the hype has come from the followers, and its understandable since the videos where simply amazing and the features looked great. Doesn't seem to be someone to "blame" if it goes dud, as it is the case with SWTOR. Not all works as planned and if you are honest, there's nothing to say. |

Its just like I said before, many of todays gamers are spoiled and impatient, they want it all and they want it right this second. |

Originally posted by Metentso Say what? Sorry, i like the game, but GW2 devs are full of it just like all devs. That dev tatoo (after BW's move, really?). Mike O'brien's "we'll be number one this time" (very funny indeed). Manifesto trailer making other mmorpgs look inferior. Lye says that their game is truly different and their taking a risk (like others aren't). |

Originally posted by QuicklyScott The point is that whenever you see a boring DE you just should ignore it and keep on walking. And I never grinded mobs, right now there are 3 huge 1-15 zones and 2 mnore will come soon, just the heart quest should be enough to level you up but you are missing the exploration thing by just doing that. But just because I have fun does not mean you are and the other way around, we seems to play rather different and if you like being told what to do instead of walkingaround exploring this just ain´t the game for you. |

I've found the game to be rather refreshing thus far, especially in regard to PVP, the mode I've been running reminds me a lot of GW1, will jump into WvW tonight, was about to then realized it was 6am lol, been playing for hours so far, exploration is great atmosphere is good and the PVP fun all IMO of course. For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |

Originally posted by DarkPony I'm sorry you feel that way! No, seriously, legitimately sorry you do. I actually have had a lot of fun, though I think I'm playing it completely differently from you. I find myself leaving a lot of hearts behind, and spent a lot of time screaming 'oh shit!' over mumble as I come running past my friend being chased by something scary, until we either manage to beat it down together, or he can finagle the monster away enough that I could be rezzed. I'm pretty sure the other people int he mumble channel thought I was a ravening incompetent, though my excuse was and still is that being 4-5 levels behind can be kind of painful, especially when you're fighting champions and veterans. :( It was fun though! For me. Oddly enough, I get the impression that if I was playing the same way you were, I might have been bored out of my mind too! I tended to use hearts as a replacement for idling, certainly not as any sort of meaningful content. I'm not sure if it's possible for you to have fun in GW2, but I will say that I'm not totally surprised. It's hard to enjoy a game when 1. The basic design of it isn't really aimed towards you and 2. You're sort of down on it ahead of time (Partly due to 1!) Though it's weird you were able to like Diablo 3 and other such games so much. I think maybe... maybe the problem is that if GW2 was NOT an MMO, but 'some other type of game where you shoul dnot compare it to any particular genre', you might be able to enjoy it, but because you want certain things out of an MMORPG that GW2 is not delivering, it gets massive negative MMO points from you. |

Anet is not less arrogant or greedy than others devs. But this almost always comes from the higher ups. However, i don't beleive GW2 will go down the same path has SWTOR anyway. |

Originally posted by Loke666 Y... eah, I feel sort of the same way. When people complain about something being boring, I immediately wonder 'holy fuck, then why aren't you doing the fun parts?'. I dunno. I haven't had any problems leveling with my 'hyperactive ferret' method of wandering around. It's horribly punishing in your average themepark MMO, where not following the quest bread crumb trail is basically bad for you. It's one problem I have with MMOS, my particular style of gameplay is punished. :( I guess I'm just glad to have something I can run around and goof off and do what catches my eye and find out I'm still keeping up with my friends. |
