From what I can see from the screenshot he provided the local.dat file shouldn't be there cause when I'm comparing it with mine I have none. Except if its a temporary file that belongs to the download the launcher is currently trying to place in its directory so it can update the files. From the screenshot provided it also shows only the amount of files I had to download today for the stress test which means that everything else should be ok. All he needs to do is run the exe as administrator if he is on vista or win7 and after the game was updated it should work. It seems however that by the amount of files shown, he thinks that the whole game tries to redownload itself so he breaks it up or something? |

A few final things.
1.) Whatever my opinion is, I think it is highly uncalled for calling me an idiot or troll. I never wrote bad about GW2, only that I feared the action combat would overwhelm me maybe. 2.) I use computer for 30 years. You can safely assume that all standard issues have been ruled out by me. I am still prone to err like all human, then it would be right telling me without name calling me. I did not attack anyone, so I think I deserve to be answered without the same. 3.) I firmly stand with my opinion that the GW2 launcher is horrible. Period. I was in MANY MMO betas, and almost all of them had options, like where to install or language selection or scan & repair. Whatever my opinin about GW2 itself is, this launcher is the worst I have ever seen. End of story, and I won't argue about what I know is a fact.
4.) I thank all the many kind and friendly people who tried to help. Your helpful kind spirit outweights every acidic posts a 100 times. :) 5.) @all attackers: Welcome to my ignore list.
Alas, no solution worked. I had to drive to a friend and copy his GW2 version.
@Moderators: This thread can be closed now. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Originally posted by Amjoco Such rude people over here. I've seen a lot of complaints about GW2's client delivery system as it stands. Contrary to what many are saying, this is not the norm for AAA studios, not even in beta, most launchers work just as they will after retail, just about every beta I can think of aside from MO's did and that's not a AAA game.

The title to this thread is complete sensationalism. I can list 10+ MMOs that I have tried from www.mmohut.com that have terrible launchers compared to GW2. At least al the buttons work. I can recall several mmo launchers where you had to guess/ figure out where on the screen to click to press the launch button because action to click the button was aligned on the screen 2-3 inches to the left/right/up/down from the actual button, and a few launchers that caused your computer to completely lock up your system resources forcing you to reboot. I don't think a launcher should be given the title 'worst of all time' because you may have had difficulty reading the directions. |
