EA says so
25% hit as of end of quarter
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ea-sales-beat-targets-star-wars-takes-hit-2012-05-07?siteid=yhoof2
And my guess ? Just the beginning of the slope. |

Curious what the expansion packs will be. NGE killed SWG. Get over it like the rest of us did in 2005. |

"Ken Barker, EA’s interim CFO, would not go into more details about the performance of “Star Wars” in a telephone interview, but said more detail would be provided in the formal earnings conference call, which begins at 5 p.m. Eastern." Spin time! :) They keep giving out free 30 days maybe they'll "keep" those subscribers forever.

“Star Wars: The Old Republic” showed signs of weakening. EA said active subscribers totaled 1.3 million at the end of the quarter — down 24% from the 1.7 million reported at the end of the December period, when the game first launched.
ROFL!
What happened to - "subscriber numbers haven’t dropped, but concurrent users at peak times have" - Daniel Erickson That statement came less than a month ago
Tried: EQ2 - AC - EU - HZ - TR - MxO - TTO - WURM - SL - VG:SoH - PotBS - PS - AoC - WAR - DDO - SWTOR |

We all knew it was smoke and mirrors. That 1.3 is supported by all the free months too. I shudder to think of what the number would have looked like had they not done that. Also 2 expansion packs releasing this quarter. I really hope those are free expansion packs for the sake of subscribers. |

The correct number as of 1st May is 400k. The market isn't fooled by this doctored number. Following the announcement, EA has now plunged 10% after hours and is at a new 52 week low.

Originally posted by dead2soon Exactly, they also ended up giving people that had an active subscription 30 free days. My husband never had any legacy rank or any characters above the 20s and still got 30 days added to his account. He had a 6 month sub, at this rate, they'll never let his account count as unsubscribed even though he did so in Feb.

Originally posted by c-tray That depends on if he is talking about end of Q1 subs which would have ended 3/31 or subs as of today/this week. Since the free 30 days came during april it wouldn't have any impact on Q1 subs. Last time there was a lot of argument over whether or not the earnings call was talking about the sumbs for the end of Q4 which would have been only like 2 weeks or if they were talking about subs as of the date of the call. I'm sure we'll get that same debate here, only this time it will be the fans saying that the 1.3 million was as of today and the non-fans saying it was the end of the quarter with likely declines through today. |

"But “Star Wars: The Old Republic” showed signs of weakening. EA said active subscribers totaled 1.3 million at the end of the quarter — down 24% from the 1.7 million reported at the end of the December period, when the game first launched" I work as a stock analyst for [edit]. I specialize in the tech sector, lately I have been assigned to online games.I wish I could publish our results from our analyst group so you can see the impact SWTOR had on EA, or lack of, and the truth behind the numbers. But alas I am not allowed so I will only say that as much as I would like to see EA crumble and burn, They are holding well over a million paid subs as of March.
Edit: Not allowed to post my firm's name. |

Consolidate or get rid of dailies. I should not have to spend the entire day running dailies spread out across three planets that take hours to complete. Add a cross-server dungeon finder, increase loot rewards in hardmode flashpoints, decrease difficulty of hardmode flashpoints. Profit. While they're at it, possibly decrease the level of rewards from storymode operations or increase difficulty so that people aren't skipping straight to the raid content after hitting 50.
Now all BioWare has to do is add more content. |

No suprise really. Only the die hard fanboys of this game ever believed the " steady 1.7 million subs" BS. I would really like to know what the numbers would have been without the free month that just so happened to coincide nicely with this quarterly report. Ah well, maybe good news for people that are subbed and planning to stay subbed will get expansions for free ( hopefully ). I dont see how they could be otherwise with " two in this quarter". |

Paid content packs would be hilariously stupid, though if it's just smaller content patches then they're on the right track.
I'm hoping it's the former. |
