Does GW2 have enough weapons? If not, what would you like to see added, either as a single weapon or in combination with another?

Currently it has enough sets imo to have a balance. To add a new set to a class, i guess other classes should get one as well, so it is not likely to get a new for a single class real soon. (at least before first expansion i guess) |

2-h Axe and 2-h Blunt would be nice. Otherwise I'd like to maybe see some classes be able to use a couple more of the weapons that are already available. |

Flail, both agri flail and ball and chain type. Two-handed axes Rapier, Epee, Foil and other fast puncture blades Mattock or 'War Pick'
Most of the swords fall into one or two handed already so Cutlass, Falchion, Katana, etc, are already included in the game, just gives the devs more sword items to make that fit in with the one handed blade or two handed blade styles that are already there.

A spear. Most MMOs have a serious lack of spears. I think it would be a cool weapon for the warrior or guardian. Also a crossbow. People are complaining the the guardians have poor range combat options, well give them a crossbow. Make it exclusive too. It fits their class I think, since they are like knights or whatever.

I think there are enough, but I wouldn't mind seeing some more.
Even if some of these weapons shared the same skills as a weapon similar to them I would be happy. I know the added skills will only make things more difficult to try and balance. Scimitar could be the same skills as a dagger, 2 hand axe could be same skills as a 2 hand sword, etc...

Might see Spear and Scythe in expansions maybe? |

Heh, or a lute like in LotRO. Just jam some tunes and watch the enemies crumble. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

I'm pretty sure they already have a spear style. At least rangers did for sure. |

I agree with a poster who said most MMO's have a severe lack of the "Spear" type melee fighter. Especially the one handed spear/shield set up. The best example I can think of would be the Warden in LOTRO. I would love to see a spear/shield setup in Guild Wars 2. As well as larger two handed polearm types...they are typically underrepresented. Someone mentioned a rapier/foil...that would also be a cool one. I can see a thief with a rapier and pistol...pirate style. The rapier could focus on bleeding damage or something. EDIT: Oh and if they needed some ideas for animations...they could look towards some of the dynasty warriors games...I know those games leave A LOT to be desired but some of the earlier ones had some characters with pretty awesome weapons, and pretty neat animations (I can't say anything about any of their recent games...the only ones that I've played are the old ones on playstation). |

Originally posted by Xzen Fun little trivia bit, but Necromancer staffs actually seem to form scythe blades. If you watch videos of Necromancers, and they do a good job with quality, a Staff Necro actually has the blade of the scythe formed with black energy when they cast.
Of course, it's not a true scythe. They could easily show up in expansions though. GW2 at present seems completely focused on the Tyrian region, whereas scythes originated within Cantha for the Dervishes. Spears on the other hand? Not too sure. You already technically have spears for underwater combat, though as a person who plans on playing and maining a Warrior in GW2, I certainly wouldn't pass up on the spear option as a two hander melee option. Though I'm sure others would like to see it more as the Spartan Spear+Shield, or Paragon throwing spear options. |

Originally posted by Cursedsei All of the above. I love spears. I think overall they are my favorite type of weapon. I would love to see two handed spears, one handed spears and javelins. When LOTRO came out with the Warden I was so blissfully happy...I just love that style with the shield...the Greek Hoplite fighting style. It's very cool in my opinion.
Oh another one I havne't noticed yet but...what about fists? For a warrior. Might be fun to just go toe to toe with someone (The weapon could be like gloves or something). And you could have a fist/shield combo and fight like Captain America! ;) |
