So you didn't see the giant 100 Person shatterer world boss fight? The Shadow behemoth, Tequatl the sunless, ect. Guild wars 2 is about open world bosses not instanced bosses.

u really only see pve as late game? what about WvWvW and team vs team pvp? end game of GW2 will have TONS of things to do. If u really enjoy pve dont worry u prob will get to lvl 80 without exploring lots of areas of GW2 world

I have the e-mails from NCSoft to prove it. Now, my problem with the game turned out to be a hardware issue even though my computer met the minimum requirements listed on the site. Anyway, I may be getting a refund only because of the hardware issue, but I am getting one. So, yeah, try contacting NCSoft support. |

Originally posted by Puremallace There are more than just 5-man content , but given you feel so strongly about 5mans .... you probably shouldn't play Gw2. I don't see much raiding, if any at all end game ( not sure if random Dragons count). I see this is as PvP game with engaging pve to get me to 80. |

The game wasn't as entertaining as I hoped it would be, but I won't be cancelling the game for 2 reasons. Firstly, the game is still in beta stages and could/will change as the development of the game progresses. Secondly, the game only cost $59.99, so it doesn't concern me too much. |

Originally posted by Puremallace Rest assured, within five minutes of playing my Norn thief I was in a 15+ man raid against a giant ice wurm. Are they called raids? no, but they provide that same epic feel I believe you are craving. PvE in this game actually has more "raids" than I've ever seen in an MMO. You just don't have to sit around and wait for a group. Run to the event and jump into the combat. The raid will form around you as more people answer the DE call. The final PvE areas are designated to have the most impactful DE's in the game and the most difficult. |

I'm at a phase where i want more than to just log in twice a week to clear bosses, which is all i did in Rift. Don't get me wrong, i enjoyed racking up server firsts in that game and i feel that it's really a great game that does raiding top notch. Hell, if it were not for GW2, i'd still be playing it.
With that statement, it's evident that you're stuck in the old mentality which is fine in an of itself. I don't see why anyone would move to another game if they had no interest in lore, exploration, or anything outside of raids. |

Originally posted by Nightshade55 While I share your enjoyment of the Norn tutorial ... it can't be compared to a raid, at all .... what so ever. It would literally detract from his enjoyment of the game if he bought it with that in mind, got in and saw what it actually was. The De's are enjoyable never the less.

Originally posted by Redemp You might be a little misleading there. I don't know about you but on my norn I participated in over five raids in the first hour. They aren't actually called raids but I was fighting against an enemy, or swarms of them, with dozens of players. I expect the endgame to be no different especially sense those are the areas reserved for the truly difficult DE's and the most impactful ones. I hardly went a single hour without being involved in a raid the entire weekend. |

Originally posted by Nightshade55 I don't consider them the same thing at all, see the above. If he's looking for a raid like experience ... he won't find it in the De's I encountered up to level 20. I think it would be doing him and the game a disservice to sell De's as "raid experiences" |

Originally posted by Puremallace So you think end game is instances with 24 man groups right there bosses in the world that can have 100 players fighting it then theres yes 5 man dungeons that have explorer modes to them that make a wow instance look like candy land wait they are all ready. Really you people saying no end game need to get out of the 24 man raids and try playing the game in the real world then being couped up in a instance with one path to follow. I didnt get to try the dungeons myself yet but had some epic world boss fights with some groups that where 30+ players not just me and 23 or less others. I also did boss fights with 3 others and some with one other and guess what none of them where easy at all. No face rolling or just hitting 123 the whole time I had to really play the game to finish these. Sorry you dont see the fun in this I dont see the fun in games that you do nothing but raid and instances in them and I cant stand doing only that. I got a huge world to play in not just 3 instances and one raid like most games but a whole world and some dungeons that I can run all I want and not be stuck waiting for the next batch to come out. So theres 800+ games that catter to that style of play some are pay to play the rest F2P pick one and have fun. Owe and when you understand the gear tredmill is in everygame to date thats out on the market even except a selet few then you will see why so many are happy about guild wars. |

Originally posted by Redemp Haha sorry, I didn't notice you had responded to what I said. Respectfully where do you note the difference? All I see is I'm playing with dozens of players to take down hard encounters without any of the annoying build up that that usually requires. Unless, of course, a person enjoys sitting in town for hours attempting to gather ineterest. I saw raid quality content there without any need to sit around and gather up members. I just went in and the raid formed around me. |

Originally posted by Puremallace So a 7 day hardcore raid schedule is good end game content? No thanks... There are plenty of raid grind fest MMOs out there... If that is what you are looking for this is not the game for you. World bosses reminicent of EQ that take scores of players, WvWvW, PvP tournaments, and exploration dungeons... Yes end game sounds practically void of content. -Atziluth- - Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. |

Originally posted by Puremallace I don't see a reason to be "pissed off". There are games out there that do the raiding thing already. Why not play them? no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by Nightshade55 I don't consider DE's raid like experiences for a few reason 1. They scale to the amount of players present. 2. They only reward experience, with slightly increased chance to drop the odd item. ( Out of the many De's I did over the BWE only one dropped an upgrade from the Boss) 3. They can be zerged down. 4. They are not designed as a time sink for end game players. ( This is coming from an old EQ player that remembers what real raiding was ) Its personal opinion really, I can't dictate what they are to you .. they may indeed be raid like. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they aren't what Pure would call a raid though. Edit * I enjoy Gw2's DE's ... but if someone told me Rift had tons of raids, then said a rift event is a raid... I'd be rather irked if I bought the title.

Originally posted by Puremallace It doesn't take a lot of research to figure out what GW2 is and what it is not. They're putting in 8 5-man dungeons, 3 of which are for level 80 characters, each with an easier "story mode" and an "explorer mode" that has multiple completion paths as well as random events that can occur. It has outdoor bosses and mini-bosses that spawn as part of DE chains and scale to number of participants in both abilities and health. And who knows what else ANet has thrown in there. Given the size of the map, the dynamic nature of events, the replayability of different areas due to downleveling, and the fact that no matter where you're at level-appropriate items drop for you, there are literally hundreds of hours of PvE content available, maybe more. What they are not putting in is a gear-treadmill or a classic tiered raiding-style end game. The most you can find is grinding for dungeon sets or gear with particular stat allocation. That's it. Clearly you are indicating that this is not the kind of experience that you are looking for. In fact, you make it a point to go on GW2 threads to declare this seemingly every day. What isn't clear is why. Why are you complaining that the game is not what you want it to be? Why aren't you satisfied with Rift or any other traditional MMO? What is stopping you from saying "Hmm, this game isn't for me" and simply walking away? And why do you seem so angry about the whole thing? It's a game, right? "Loading screens" are not "instances". |
