Originally posted by atticusbc And this is true. Because all in all GW2 is focused on putting the MMORPG back in the MMORPG so it is what is it. Skyrim might be your type of game if what I said isn't what you mean by "solo." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Originally posted by Zaltark Eh... partially right. WvWvW and competitive PvP are the PvP based areas, that part is true. However the open world PvE area is PvP-free and contains tons of content the OP will be able to enjoy at his leisure without even needing to group up at all if he doesn't want to. The dynamic event system and the fact that the PvE world is cooperative, not competitive, will mean he can play without having to worry about people stealing his kills or nodes, if others join in on an event or kill he'll still get credit for full loot and experience, etc.
The way the game promotes indirect grouping (i.e. you simply can help and be helped by those around you) may even incline the OP to eventually try grouping with others he comes across that have a similar goal in mind. It'll be his choice, and he won't be punished either way.
So, OP, in my opinion yes, this is a game that you'll enjoy. |

for everyone saying no, this is straight from the FAQ http://eu.guildwars.com/support/article/faq_gw2/ Will Guild Wars 2 be solo-able?Yes. You will be able to advance your character to the maximum level without ever joining a group if you so desire. Most content will be designed in a solo-friendly way, though often with mechanisms for scaling up in difficulty when more players are involved. This will give players the option to experience the game whichever way they prefer. |

Then this is the game for you. You don't have to ever engage in PVP and there are no raids. So that's there.
As for solo content, it depends on why you want to solo. On the surface, dynamic event zones (and heart quests) will look like every other MMO's quest zones on the surface. You will see a bunch of people doing things. You will be asked to do things. Whether you choose to work with others or not is up to you. REgardless, you are working with others. NOw, if you like solo cause you want to be absoultely completely alone, then flip my answer to a no. But that's impossible in any game, so I doubt that's what you mean. If you like to solo cause you hate the idea of forming parties, and dealing with 13 year olds, then you're like me, yes this is agreat game for you. You can party with who you want, work with people without the hassle of "working" with the wrong people. |

No, if you have to ask, GW2 isn't for you. There's quite a bit of information out there, and a beta coming up soon, should be able to make your own decision I would think.

The fact that you ask such a question in a forum is really sad. If you can't make up your own mind by doing your own research then whatever happens is absolutely no one else's fault but your own. With the biased opinions, misinformation, lack of information out there already, if this thread wasn't started to make another GW2 flame war, then you should just choose your shepperd from any of the random posters here and follow him/her to greener pastures.
Just saying. |

There's no raids, the game is soloable (except for dungeons, which drop primarily aesthetic gear anyway), and any "elite" events you run into will have others helping as well. They don't have to be in your team, you can ignore them entirely, and they still contribute as if you were all working together as technically, you are, like it or not. But yes, you can feel free to be anti-social, it won't hurt you beyond the social aspect of an MMO which you don't seem to care about anyway. Ignore the people who seem to think the only reason people play MMO's is to sing Kumbaya with everyone else in-game. They're just bitter the game world doesn't cater to them anymore. Solo play is perfectly acceptable and feasable, and PvP is separate from PvE and not something you have to care about either, if you don't like it.
