I'm not a pve'r.Just not. I will endure some pve to get to Realm vs Realm. I played Aion at launch and left at level 25(fighting in the abyss was simply the worst I've ever experienced anywhere). I'm giving the game a fresh shot and starting to run out of gas at level 18.So far I haven't seen it any easier to get to the RVR on the new server.(sigh) GW2...Planetside 2....Dominus...Secret World.Hopefully one of these will arrive sooner rather than later . |

How are you burnt out already? I just installed last night to come back and try the game, and went 1-14 in like 2 hours. Not sure how you assume getting to 18 was hard.. |

yeah 1-18 in two hours is not a bad thing at all. the problem which i thougth this thread was about originally) with Aion that i had was the abyss, forcing players to progress in a pvp zone where the high level geared pvp'ers gank people constantly was what turned me off entirely on this game. If that's still happening then definitely i wouldn't play even if it's F2P now they'd have to eliminate that entirely from the game experience before i'd even think of returning. the other thing i didn't like when playing was the flying. Becoming weary from gliding was just not realistic. I am an avid pve'er and this game was fun up until the abyss. I hope for the pve'ers sake who are trying this that they did finally change it. |

The grind for Aion, and potentially TERA, doesn't have a whole lot to do with leveling speed, but rather all the redundant content you have to suffer through in order to get there. Aion doesn't even attempt to make the questing interesting as all the quests are basically kill x of y or collect x from y (with low drop rates), and if you run out of quests, you're stuck grinding repeatables. I hate the collection quests in the game as well since you can't do them unless you keep up your gathering skill. Game still has great music and nice art direction though. |

They added a bunch more quests, so at least you didnt reach a choke point in your leveling, forcing you to grind mobs. I shot up to level 25 super fast, boring but fast. Its starting to slow down but from what Im hearing in my legion, the leveling is much faster than it used to be. But I agree, I hate to PvE so I can PvP. Untill GW2 arrives this will have to do. |

I've been playing this game for the last couple of days, and I really haven't seen the grind you're talking about. I mean, quests in this game usually ask you to collect 3 things (don't know, probably they increase the number for higher levels) where other games use 15 (or even 30) as a standard. For me Aion, at low levels, is way less grindy than other themeparks. |

The grind really isn't that bad now, even at high levels. Last night I logged in at level 56, with about 20% to go until level 57. Then 5 hours later I logged out at level 58 and was about 10% to 59. Helped in part by using a Loadas amulet in Aturam Sky Fortress, as well as the slew of easy dailies in Saipan, but yeah, the only real hellish grind I know of that's still in game is in the 40s. There's still probably a 4-5 level gap that requires either heavy abyss farming or running god awful areas like Theobomos and whatever Asmodians have as the equivalent.
If they'd fix that bridge (maybe add some mid 40s content to the abyss but doubtful) then it'd be fine. Until then I'd suggest trying to find friends for when you hit the 40s. If Asteria falls to the Balaur you can get a 6man and farm the repeatable there once you're around level 45. In a solid group with heavy damage you can accept-kill-complete-accept in maybe 10 minutes and it'll give good xp/ap if the other side doesn't interrupt you. Helps a lot with that horrible patch of grinding. |

If you have someone to xp with that helps.Crafting helps.I still haven't seen the company do anything about gank squads in the abyss.Having to get to 55-60 just to hope to survive...is just poor design.As GW2,DAOC, Planetside 2 , and Dominus developers already know. |

With the exp and quest change, there's no reason to be in the Abyss unless you want to. I think from 45-50 the exp got reduced from something like 600 mil per level to 200 mil per level. Right now EXP seems to be doubled and the rested exp also applies to quests too. Quests also give a LOT more exp and there's less exp loss on death. Leveling wise the grind is virtually gone. At 52 right now and I feel like I'm making good progress just by doing quests and helping out with random mentoring quests. Gear grind on the other hand is very much alive at 40+. I'm 52 and I"m still wearing level 30/40 gear... |

There is definately less grind in Aion currently. I'm not saying there isn't any becuase there still is alot, but it is definately alot more reasonable. That is my response to your title.
If you don't like PvE, then by all means, Aion is not for you. There is a substantial amount of PvE work that you have to do to be a successful PvP player in Aion. Pick a different game. |

It's because Aion is NOT a PvP-only game, period.
PvPvE = PvP+PvE |

Originally posted by Terrorizor that doesnt make sense though. PvP progression should be made by Pvping not PvEing
PvE progression is made by PvEing, raiding, dungeons, what have you. PvP and PvE are separate. thats why you see alot of skills effects being reduced in PvP setting in alot of games, cause they're different.

if they changed the requirement (at level 30) to run the abyss more power to em! that was THE reason why i left. Despite popular belief NOW the game was very much PVP only back when they had a sub which is where most people remember their game time with it. During the sub they did require you to go to the abyss which was pvp only, flagged you instantly, and was the only questlines that gave you the currency you needed to be competitive end game in pve. That's the way it was. Quit trying to confuse the issue. If they changed that when they went F2P fine! more power to em, but this game did require pvp for end game content requiring everyone who wanted anything worth while to go to a pvp area and get ganked constantly by the higher ups. And back then, the makers of Aion ACTUALLY REWARDED THE GANKING. If these devs had given them a penalty after 3 levels higher if they killed a member of the opposite faction, like losing power for a short time, deleveling, losing currency for new gear. then I would have stayed but the forced pvp and the rewarding of ganking everyone lower level then you just didn't sit well with my ethics. Sorry. If in the F2P form they added more content that eliminated this then that's great! i think it was the best move they could make, a little late, but the best move. |

Both me and a friend had bought this a while back when it had a monthly subscription. Anyways, we both stopped playing and yesterday my m8 re-installed Aion to go back and check it, apparently they must have completly pulled out of Europe as he had a message saying he had to redownload the entire full client from some place and play on a US server. Does this mean the EU version of the game (DVD's) are now obsolete and pointless to have? or has he done something wrong? oh and yes it was still tagged as europe version but pointing to US website and servers and when he tried goign to Aion's official sight it did not mention anything about this fact. I just said to him un-install it, trash the DVD's and say EU players got screwed over yet again. (but me, i dont care, the game sucked to me anyways, but to him he liked it). |

Originally posted by Sephiroso I don't mean to say it's the best system in the world, I'm not hyping it. Aion is gear based, so you have to get a character to a certain level to be able to start. Play a toon to lvl 30 and you need to buy alot of gear to compete with twinks. Rifting hardly happens anymore so most PvP is higher level stuff. I don't bother with PvP so I'm not an expert on the best way to go about things either. |
