at first i was hyped for guildwars 2 long long time ago as time goes by and more infomation is realsed to public the less hyped i get

I have recently started thinking what guildwars 2 end game will be like and among other things and from infomation we have been given

my conclusion so far is that guildwars 2 is pvp thats it PVE is pointless....

Why is PVE pointless?

Well why would you do PVE when you can do PVP and get gear/moneyz/levels

I get some people suck at PVP and do PVE so thats only reason why people would do PVE but theres another issue people blindly missed END GAME CONTENT

you see this will be guildwars 2 downfall and fact there is no gear treadmill

Now lot people are like why would i do dungeons when all the gear is just cosmetic apperiances. and to be honest i think there right why would people want cosmetic stuff

Sure looking cool would be nice but i dont think il spend hard time using my uber skill to get cosmetics it has no benfits to me what so ever so in the end i just wasted my time

this is only issue i have the incenstive for me to do PVE from what i can see whats point in dynamic events? to exp and items right? yeh thats right? but items are cosmetic....??? yes they are? so its just EXP? yep but you can do PVP and do same thing? yep

anyone kinda see where im going here? i feel like lack of rewards can kill the insenstive to do more then wats needed in Gw2

because PvE is fun?

what's needed in GW2 is for the player to have fun. The player needs to enjoy the game, and a gear grind of endless dungeons and raids is not fun, when i log into a game i want to have to option to experience all of the content (or as much as i can) everytime. Towards the end of playing WoW a player will run through the same grouping of dungeons multiple times, or play PvP (which doesnt help them in any aspect of the game aside from PvP) In Guild Wars 2 i will be able to run back to the first zone i see (after the first story zone) and do all of the content and it still will be semi difficult.

Options are better and virtual rewards and incentives do offer the only long-term way to progress a game.

I do agree that gear run that most MMORPGS have gets old and that it is old and yes PVE is fun but i do like rewards for my work O.O i don't know i try to think theres more to it then that but im little stuck on want to do PVE i love PVE and PVP i am not best in PVP but i just cant find it justice to not be rewarded and i get it supose be fun but ideal of fun for some people is the reward factor

Lot of MMO's Developers Blizzard for example did reserch on this and came to conclusion that its same reason why people get addicted to casino's the reward fact the pretty falshy lights you get when you see 777 and feeling you get of acomplishment

Did anyone notice the bolt of what looked to be electricity continue to flow over the land as it was shot, that was so cool seeing that at around 13:05.  Most mmos have a certain distance of how far a animation goes but it looked as if to travel and keep traveling to where you couldnt even see it any more.

Yes! Forgot to mention in excitement.  Again, more support for the level of immersion ArenaNET went for.

I saw this today.     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMCDGDCKeEk&feature=plcp&context=C4fe20a7VDvjVQa1PpcFPmU4rYsxQ0vb4c3NJwEwPPxrWeBmNYOmc%3D

Looked pretty decent.   I cant stand Totalbiscuit or the Cynical Brit or whatever his name is, but it did show nearly an entire story mode dungeon run.

What MMO does it look like?  I would like to see it.  Im not bashing 'game-that-shall-not-be-named'.  I'm saying it wasnt for me.  GW2 is more inline in what *I* want to see in an MMO.

Doesnt every MMO look like an MMO?  I mean SWTOR looks more like a typical MMO than GW2 does. SWTOR is a great game. I subbed it. Wasn't what I was looking for. I left.  Im saying GW2 looks more likely to keep my excitement, since it delivers what I want to play.

At some point you simply have to enjoy whats in front of you, instead of finding everything thats wrong with it.  How is that remotely fun?  Now if you simply don't like what is in front you thats cool.  Then move on.  It wasnt for you.

I find it has that generic fantasy MMO look so prevalent in the genre right now.  Not bashing it, just fail to see what is so amazing about the video.  Want an exact MMO it looks like?  It looks like a cross between Rift, WoW with maybe a dash of Aion.  That's what it looks like to me.

I'm just trying to be realistic here.  Everyone is overhyping this game to death and it can't possibly be able to live up to the expectations you are all putting on it.

For instance, the OP keeps going on and on about how great this game is, yet all he has seen is video clips.  ANY game can look great.  It's after you actually play it that you can see how it is.  An MMO, specifically, requires a lot of time within it to give it a fair judgement.  Some people are immediately turned off of a game, fine..that's their right.

But these forums have started to become very annoying with the

"OMG THIS GAME IS GONNA ROCK! ITS EVERYTHING I WANTED!" before they even set an hour in  the game, and then it's "OMG THIS GAME IS SO INCREDIBLE" after an hour to quickly become "THAT GAME FAILS" after a few weeks.  It gets extremely tiring to try and engage in real conversations about games when everyone keeps jumping to extreme judgements.

I typically buy every MMO that comes out and try and give it a fair shake.  I haven't ever regretted doing that.  Every game I have enjoyed for some time..some more than others, but coming in with these extreme preconceived notions on how "great" a game is before you even play it only leads to disappointment.  And people flood the forums with these annoying posts.  If everyone would try and become a little level headed and start to look at things more maturely, I think these forums could truly benefit.

Thats fine. You dont like the aesthetic. Thats always personal.  Who says your reality is my reality? Call it your opinion and we all get along since we all have one.

I go on and on about what I LIKE about this game from the videos I've seen. Im looking forward to playing it. When did that become hype? I dont know what it is with you kids today and the words you use over and over not fully understand what you are saying. In this case, you are mixing hype with natural excitement that *some* people (myself included) actually have for this game.  Why is it wrong to enjoy that?

Your remind me of a side of gaming Ive seen emerge recently that focus on being "real' stating your opinion about nothing. Constructive anyway. No game is perfect. Every game has problems. All of them. Why focus on that?  I cant because Im too busy enjoying the game.  You dont play games.  You talk about them. I grew up playing them. Just for the fun of it.  Im bringing that back.

Did you read my post? This isn't a review.  Its a dialogue of the feeling I got when I saw the video.  I love the aesthetic. Even if *I* feel Guild Wars 2 is the worst game on the planet. Guess what?  I'll play something else.  Its not going to depress me. Im not going to feel cheated. Or let down. I chalk it as an experience I didnt agree with. Im not going to shit on the game because my 'reality' isnt agreed by everyone else in the world. How selfish.

I agree with you on where forums are going. But thats going off topic. And realize you promote the whole FAIL dialogue because you continue to focus on the whole HYPE pre-requisite.  Why dont you look at it as an opinion and do neither? If we all talk about what we love about video games (instead of focusing on what we hate) we'd all learn something.

What does your buying MMO have anything to do with my personal opinion on GW2?  Do you see what you are doing? And thats collective.

Im not going to stop saying what I like about a game because its 'hype' in (your) reality.  Well guess what? Your reality doesnt exist to me. So poof, vamous you son of a b*tch!

Get on, scoot... ;-)

Ok, to be perfectly honest guild wars 2 as a whole seems like a pretty bad game, from the videos i have seen, it just seems to be slow and bulky especially pvp, and thats not what people are wanting, there wanting smooth interactive environments, also the fact that its not really planning on having much pve endgame is a big turn off. Having played the TERA closed beta i can just about safely say that the TERA will be a far better game as a whole, and its being release 1 month before this game. it has far better combat, content, graphics, interaction etc...

Not to mention the fact that they wont be able to update content as quickly as other games, due to it being B2P not P2P.

So yeah, without a doubt disagree with this post, and to prove it to you wait abit over a month untill the games released, and see for yourself.

Now this is constructive.  Im still betting on the game.  I do want smooth interactive environments, but Im not sure how much of that I can realistically expect on release.  Ill have a much better idea after I try the beta which I hear is coming soon. Also the interface has to work for me.  I like colored tile icons that look pretty.  I cant deal with crappy UIs.  I want it flexible so I can re-size but its not a game killer.  To me its going to be about the experience.  Even if its cludged together, if it feels right. Im there.

I sub Vanguard. My true gamers know I need not say more.

You make my point exactly.  I played in two TERA closed betas.  And I like what I SEE about Guild Wars more than what I PLAYED in TERA.  Does that make TERA a bad game?  Does that mean 'FAIL'?  Who cares.  If other people LOVE it than more power to TERA.  We are all not going to like the same games or the same thing in games. GW2 just isnt for you. Cool.

What you are actually doing, is competing with an opinion to prove it wrong.  Then you go back and forth. There can never be end because you like TERA and (right now) I like GUILD WARS 2 :-D

lets embrace that. Tell me what you LOVE about TERA. If anything it will be more interesting than you telling me my opinion is some way wrong.  (Make a new thread though, no more room in here) ;-)

Definitely feel for you guys (and gals) who knew about GW2 before 2012 :-)   That would have killed me at best, soured me at worst.  You can probably taste it.

Everything I have heard says there IS no end game.  Or in a form familiar to us.  Not an end game person, but will be interested if the game can keep me occupied to max level to even see end level.  Been waiting for an experience like that forever.

I think GW2 is trying to offer options.  I dont have strong feelings for PvP, but will try it.  Im more PvE and would want the gear.  Im the one you will seeing finding all the invsible walls and picking up shiny things. I love to collect!  So dont mind me.  The fact I can turn around and start fighting is awesome.

I definitely seeing GW2 being a Niche game.  What they are trying to offer is not going to appeal to everyone.  But its definitely hit everything on my personal check list for me to be excited.

Hang on a sec there.  GW2 is slow and bulky in PVP compared tp TERA?  Have we now confused which game is which?

Casting on the move vs. animation locks, hmm...

I'm not knocking TERA, because i think it's a solid game, but it's worst feature minus the questing, is the annoying animation locks that makes the action combat a lot slower and clunkier than it should be.

You also bring up updates.  Are you serious here as well?  Enjoy gatting updates 6 months after Korea.

This has to be a troll post or just an idiot.

*assuming* he has actually played the game. GW2's combat can feel a tiny bit slower than TERAs at the start. This is primarily because TERA's combat is a little flashier in that anime ADD type of style. Especially if you were playing the Warrior class for TERA's beta. That said, GW2 and TERA have the exact same issue with their combat at lower lvls.

Both of their combat's pacing is dependant on having enough skills to constantly be changing up what you're doing. Neither game allows this for the earlier lvls. They both only start with 2 skills, and thus tend to feel pretty slow at the start. Plus Tera is combo based, so while the pacing can be a bit slower (wait for mob to telegraph big attack, dodge / block / evade and then lay into him w/ your best combo) it can sometimes feel faster because you are condensing all your attacks essentially into one burst (not all classes in TERA play this way, but a lot of the melee ones do). In GW2, you don't tend to do that as much, unless your doing PvP, because you don't want to have all your skills on CD when a mob is doing something nasty.

That said, both game's combat starts to pick up really really quick. Once you have enough skills to work with, both games get more fun in the combat. As for bulkiness... I have no idea where he'd get that idea from. TERA's move's are largely telegraphed (to give people the ability to block or dodge), while GW2's are not. I found it much harder to dodge in GW2 than it was to in TERA. Not only do you not always know if a large hits about to get you, but you're timing has to be much better. In TERA I found if you block or dodge, you usually have an extra second of reaction time in which the abilities will still get negated.

(this is just going off my experience from gamescon)

Great way to have someone *learn* the mechanics instead of just *knowing* them.  The more little intracacies like this I see, the more I believe they want the gamer to focus on playing whats on screen as opposed to being worried about what key to press.

Very eager to experience a dungeon.  Those are really hard to get right, especially when you cater to everyone.  To me there has to be a balance between exploration and fighting. I want the experience to feel more natural instead of a corridor of enemies that may need additional stats to kill.  While thats a challenge its not fun to me.

Im hoping they have caves sort of like whats in Oblivion. Would be great to be walking around, see a cave and enter to find an underground labyrinth.

Maybe a month?  I bet you I can play it longer than that. Easy. What are we waging?

So because PvP (to you) seems rediculous everyone should question why they play it?  Does that make sense to you?  Does that sound nice?  You could have said "I dont think the PvP is NOT going to be up to par"   That could start a nice discussion on what we think GW2 PvP will be versus what we want. And we all want different things.

You cant make GW2 something that its not.

You dont seem to understand here, i am giving my opinion only, what i mean is that i dont want an opinion on the opinion that i have given, because unlike you i have not asked and dont care what people think about my own opinion, i have just responded to the thread and to you about MY own opinion only.

what a great video ! The world feels amazing, very immersive and colorful.

The only thing that bugs me is the lack of mounts... not for run speed or any of that, just for immersion.

Why in hell would i walk by foot if i can have a mount ?  It makes more sense to explore the map mouted than by foot... since the game is open world and that big !

Give me a mount with 5% speed bonus... 2% speed bonus, but a mount please.

My favorite part was recognizing the Ettin area from the gameinformer video and thinking "Oh he better watch out for bears..." and he was almost eaten alive by a bear! Anyone else excited for exploration? I know I am!

I agree with the OP and it's videos like these that cement the idea that Guild Wars 2 will be the best themepark MMORPG for the explorer and it will truly reward exploration. Whereby players just doing some general PvE questing (Hearts & Dynamic Events) can simply just stumble of across content they never expected.

Its guild wars 2 a fantasy based mmorpg, that sadly, is a huge disappointment.

So you log into a forum where people discuss a game they like but you think sucks; then you present your opinion... but you don't care about other people's opinions.

Would it not be more satisfactory, efficient, enjoyable for you, if you went to the forums for a game you actually enjoy and converse with like-minded people? It sure would be for us.

Mind you, I have nothing against opposing opinion. I love to have discussions with intelligent people. It's the close-minded - my opinion matters, I don't care about the rest of you - people...

not ment to spoil all your pleasure.. but.. its the same graphics over and over again. Feels like you playing Lineage2 or Aion really.

The chars look the same with diferent clothes.

Its again the giant bees flying around crap, i mean.. c'mon, whats new about it?

You want inovation? How about the frekaing rifle shown in the video not firing after swiming and diving with it?

Or more simple.. how about all the architecture and landscape design actually make sense? Now you see a nice clam city, but just next to it theres a vulcano like erupting all over the place. Surprisingly, people in that town move aorund like nothing weird is going on. Nothing new with this.

More inovation? How about dropping the frekaing static npc positioning? You watch the trailer, is like watching a game made 5 years or more ago. The npcs static all there. You walk 10 steps, you get a giant bee, walk 10 more 1 giant rat or w/e. They all waiting there to be killed. They dont agro on line of sigh, they use the old agro area method and they just static.

Old old technology, old game design. Whats so new about it?

Stop the freakign hype and lets be honest for a change will we?

I absolutely 100% agree with everything EduardoASG just said. way over hyped, mediocre game at best, not a bad option for the casual, once in a while players, no innovation, nothing new, outdated graphics/ gameplay and lack of content. End of discussion.

Thats fine. You dont like the aesthetic. Thats always personal.  Who says your reality is my reality? Call it your opinion and we all get along since we all have one.

You stated your opinion, I stated mine.  When did I say you were wrong and I am right?  You're becoming a little defensive here.  Not sure what you are reading into my post, but that's not what I meant.

C'mon now. Unless you live under a rock (or simply don't read any of the threads here), the player hype for this game has gone a bit overboard.  From people writing posts about how this game is so genre-breaking, or this game is just so fantastic, or this game is the ultimate game of 2012.....all these are said by people who haven't even played a moment of the game!  Don't you think that's a bit over-zealous?

Your remind me of a side of gaming Ive seen emerge recently that focus on being "real' stating your opinion about nothing. Constructive anyway. No game is perfect. Every game has problems. All of them. Why focus on that?  I cant because Im too busy enjoying the game.  You dont play games.  You talk about them. I grew up playing them. Just for the fun of it.  Im bringing that back.

Don't know where this is coming from.  Don't even know how to respond to you pigeon-holing me into some stereotype.  For your info, I've been playing games my whole life but apparently, you wish to believe what you wish to believe.

Great! Say you are excited about the game! No one is stopping you, but when you come over to the other game forums claiming how your game will kill my game, it gets a bit old. (I'm not necessarily referring to you individually, but the mob mentality that is here)

An opinion: "I'm excited for this game!  It looks great to me"

Overhype: "This game is the best game ever!  (insertgamehere) will be dead after this comes out.  Look at all the amazing things this game is doing"  (All this without even playing it)

What does your buying MMO have anything to do with my personal opinion on GW2?  Do you see what you are doing? And thats collective.

Nothing except when you refer to my MMO's "failures" as fact only to promote your unreleased game.

Im not going to stop saying what I like about a game because its 'hype' in (your) reality.  Well guess what? Your reality doesnt exist to me. So poof, vamous you son of a b*tch!

Personal attacks?  Really?  Obviously I am talking to a child here.

Get on, scoot... ;-)

Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros

Does that mean you're actually leaving this topic and concentrate on a game you actually enjoy? If there is such a game?

I am curious, though. You say the game will "mediocre at best". Do you have a crystal ball? Or are you basing it on just the videos you've seen online? The same videos others have watched as well? Others, who are actually capable of carrying on conversations without being ignorant of other people's views and opinions?

If you're so sure this is just a mediocre game, why does it bother you so much that there are people out there who hope to enjoy it? Go play the game you enjoy and let others have their fun. Simple as that.
