Originally posted by teakbois Preface: I'm not targetting you specifically, it just so happens I have a comment on these two things lol. In the "TERA vs. the world" debate, one aspect I find misleading is that combat is all TERA has going for it. Yes, the combat makes it unique for a fully featured AAA MMO, but it's also a well rounded game besides that. The content is there and a lot of it is group based which for me personally, has been sorely lacking outside of instances. Just not worth my time anymore. |

I'm looking forward to GW2 as well and even though I think GW2 will be a mega hit the OP could be right. The combat really makes all the difference in the world with this game but there is just a ton of things about the game that are appealing to a lot of people. It is a themepark type of game but it has a lot more to offer as well. The game is extremely polished and just feels good to play it.
Another thing that is helping Tera is the PvP. Open world pvpers are coming from hardcore games like Darkfall and Mortal online because of the skill based pvp Tera offers. There are things PvPers would like to change about the game but the biggest thing is the PvP takes skill.

How many of you do research or know what the hell you're talking about before you speak? Probably not many of you. Regardless for all of those morons saying, "you get rooted in place, combat sucks". Watch this video and realize why people say play past 18.
Skip to 4 minute mark, most of it is their f@g guild doing their opener.

I know it took me about 30 seconds to find this video, crazy when you actually try to do something before organizing a long rant of why something is trash. |

Also the guy in this video isn't that good. He spams the same skill repeatedly, and is not chaining his attacks. Protip #1 spamming the same button will get you killed. Protip #2 if you have block you will need to learn to use it. |

No chance. It's releasing at the worst time possible and isn't that great. |

If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

Yeah, how dare a game's combat system root me in place, I totally go around swinging swords in stuff in real life while moving around and totally it doesn't gimp the strength of what I do! When I'm shovering I'm constantly moving around digging holes, makes perfect sense! How dare they add a combat system that has penalities for doing stuff wrong like spamming, you know, one that takes SKILL and not THOUGHTLESS BUTTON PRESSING
Seriously, complain about the quest system and all, if you really have that much issue with the combat system, keep playing your easy mode click and win MMos. Even GW2 I'm a bit iffy on I have some respect for since they at least broke away from point and click adventure MMos. If your really having issues with not being able to spam buttons and using that as your reasoning... just... go off and play some brainless game, maybe some console action button mashers if you wanted Tera combat to be that way. |

Originally posted by Sector13 Yes, you do have the choice. But how long until you think things like: "Well I don't want to farm without the extra bag space, better pay for that." "It's not worth clearing that area without a cash shop key." Then it's more of an illusion of choice because you wont play without paying for all those things. Just a thought to keep in mind. |

Originally posted by gr0und3d Donno, I don't think like that. For me, there is no illusion to spending money. I guess when you're just throwing your money at a game that you need someone to regulate your spending for you then you would prefer P2P but I don't have that problem. That sounds more like a problem with the person and not with the model. I know people who don't throw their money at everything like you seem to think they do. Maybe people need to learn fiscal responsibility instead of saying how companies are nickle and diming them. |

i 'm so sick of all this pushy people, bashing games, day and night, trying to impose their playing style, upon everyone else. and constantly trolling, doomsaying games simply because they don't like it. honestly some of the above posters, make me, wanna puke for a whole week. i think is time, i stay away from this whole site. the more i read all the crap that goes on here, the more i feel, like stopping playing MMO alltogether. this site is starting to get very unhealthy. |

I think TERA's romance will only last as long as people will put up with the fact that only the combat is next gen, if they leave every other aspect of the game alone that gives any game longevity ie the feeling of progression, people will leave it en masse like other titles have been left recently to find their fix elsewhere. |

Originally posted by itgrowls Your post is worded a bit strangely, so I'll just ask for clarification before I respond, just in case I got it wrong. Are you saying that the only thing interesting or new about TERA is the combat? And are you saying that people would leave it due to there not being a feeling of "progression?" Just want to make sure I'm understanding your point. |
