Originally posted by Warmaker It's a pretty good reason not to purchase lifetime subs. You're essentially giving away your right to vote with your wallet so if this kind of change, and all mmos seem to implement unpopular changes at one point or another, bothers you then it's best not to buy lifetime. Gold members can just drop their sub, not that it will matter unless there is some mass exodus. I'm not a big fan of these sorts of things, but almost all F2P games/publishers (Turbine, PWE, Frogster, SoE, etc) seem to have them in one form or another. I tend to ignore them and sell them on the broker. I'm an STO newbie so the game is still fun for me. Yeah, it's a blatant money grab, but so are so many other things in MMOs and we, as a gamer community, have sent the message to devs/publishers that this is just fine. From raid only dangly carrot progression in sub games, to cash shop + sub in others, to store exclusives, and lottery drops that require cash to play. I feel like we've made our bed and now we have to lie in it. |
