Is it by any chance a person who tend to play games he or she actually enjoys playing, and sometimes post positive or constructive feedback on these game's forums? Someone who stay away from games they don't like, and completely ignores games which they hate?
In that case I am proud to be a fanboi:)
....and no, I didn't make an account just to ask some purely rethorical questions. I've got some I'd like an answer to as well:
How come a vast majority of gamers seem to choose to play the games which they hate the most to play? Often playing them for years, hating every minute? Then, when they finally can't bear it anymore, and quit playing, why do they keep logging on to the forums of games they hate, just to leave some bitter, hateful, venom there? We get it, you didn't like the game all right!

My definition of fanboi is someone who will defend a game to the death, and trash anyone who says even the slightest bad thing about that game. Whether or not they actually play the game is irrelevant. Currently bored with MMO's. |

I can understand that some people find a game which they really really like, and post about it on the forum. But why do people log on and post on forums for a game which they hate? I know several games which I can't stand, but I have never considered posting trash about them on their forums. Check every game forum you wish, >50% of posts are by bitter angry looners. How odd. |

OP, surely there is no game that we can say we "can't stand" is there? |

I guess I was a bit sloppy there. As a matter of fact, I don't hate any computergames. Some are not to my liking. Perhaps that's why I don't understand. I don't have the capasity to hate a game which I can easily avoid :p |

I wanted to post something funny, witty and sarcastic to get a laugh, but I just don't think I want to. I look at these posts and I have to ask myself. Is this poll here because GW2 is right around the corner? . So what causes this "fanboi" response? A lot comes from Haters. There are people in these threads who intentionally troll these guys non stop. They want to have a discussion in their forum about something they are looking forward to. and I'd say there is a 90-95 percent chance that somenone's gone in there and said: GW2=P2W, or brought up the cash shop, or said the combat sucks or the graphics are out dated or something, The GW2 fans get trolled and trolled and trolled about GW2's shortcommings and failures provoking the fans to respond so tha tthe haters can say "See, Fanboi!" I can't even come to these forums to try to find real info about the games because there is so much worthless opinion that is meant to deface or defend GW2. This poll is ridiculous to be honest. If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

Exactly. I've been trying to find a "new" game to try out, and read a lot of differnt forums lately. That's why I made this thread. It's always the same, everywhere. If someone who plays the game tries to explain something, they imidiately gets trashed by ultra-haters who for some reason have nothing better to do than to hang around forums waiting for someone to say something useful. I'm sick and tired of it, and they even hide behind freedom of speach. They, who sabotage everyone trying to say something meaningful. They have no understanding of what freedom of speach means, try living in Iran for a few years, then you will understand. Discusting spoiled brats who cries about freedom of speach because someone askes them to shut up so they can hear what adults are trying to say. Hmmm, seems like I'm turning in to one of them, but hey -freedom of speach.
PS: The poll was partly to test out how I make a poll (my first thread) and partly because I was trying to be funny :) |

Like many other terms, 'fanboi' will be subject to interpretation. Like 'hater', they get thrown around by different people with different definitions of it and use it either to describe, insult, or bolster a poster or point of view. The only good thing about your poll is being able to associate the answers with the posters so you'll know how they'll mean it in the future. |

"No man can stand any society other than his own" -Ben Franklin There are a lot of very knowlegeable posters on this site. Some of the best. I never tire of reading the good and the bad, even what I consider wrong and don't agree with. It's the variety and differences that make it interesting. |

Anyone not playing my game of choice, at that particular time.
Addendum: Or anyone wanting to play any future game I am not interested in myself. ----- |
