EA's big downfall started when they started eating up there competition and it all started with grabbing the exclusive rights to the NFL license. No company has been allowed to make a NFL game since. And that there started there strong arming and greed. They got so big for there britches that they dont listen to the community. But yet....us gamers still buy there product only to find out we got burned once again because of some half truth EA told there potential consumers during the time of release, such as  the DLC isnt done....but we wont tell you that you have most of it on your Hard drive or Console disc and we will charge you more to unlock it.

I think the developers who are looking for a publisher for there games ought to stay clear of EA. It will only pull them into the storm.

Had this been a real poll, EA wouldn't even have made it in the top 10. Most people never even heard of EA.

Exactly.  All this really says is that most people who responded to the poll were gamers.

And hey, if you're a gamer, and you live in your own little gamer world, you're probably not even aware of most of the travesties committed by oil companies and big banks.  But you are aware that EA ruined your game franchise.

Myopic?  Yes.  But it is what it is.

You folks do realize that the net result of the poll is the winner receiving a gilded turd, right?  This wasn't something that was going drag actual criminals into federal court on fraud charges.  Nothing of value was ever going to be achieved.  There was never any justice in the offing.  Just a booby prize for some tyrant scum or another.

I think the only myopia here involves treating this poll like it's something to be taken at all seriously.

If you want to effect real change, write your lawmakers and don't work yourself into a tizzy over Gong Show level silliness.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

EA is RIGHTLY concerned for the profits of the company and accountability to its shareholders. However, EA in NOT CONCERN ENOUGH about what provides those profits in the first place....its CUSTOMERS. EA provides some decent product but that product is overshadowed by lame brain marketing schemes that alienate those customers. Case in point (and just one example), the most recent scam to provide experience boost packages for sale to Battlefield 3 players. While I appreciate the fact that EA is trying to make money, I am less enthused to see that they are attempting to squeeze money out of players at every turn. While it is optional to purchase said packages, it puts those that enjoy the challenge of getting those unlocks via game mechanics at a disadvantage. While I do not believe it is a "pay to win" situation, it certainly is close. But that is just one issue that does not give EA customer or potential customers a warm fuzzy feeling about that company.

Let's party like it is 1863!

Things might change if companies weren't out to make a profit.  You know, most of the people on this forum are all to happy to jump onto the EA Hate-waggon but never place blame on the smaller companies who decide to sell to them.

It really does take two to tango.

Utterly ridiculous. The voters of this must be so insular of the rest of the world around them. EA is small time compared to companies like Bank of America and Halliburton

I'm sure Bank of America and Halliburton doesn't have the same following of nutballs with far too much time on their hands

you sound so utterly ignorant....

people who frequent this site really need an eye-opener.

it is sad and pathetic how serious people take 'video-games', then talk about 'world issues' as if they are less important in comparison.

Had to look up the list to see just how EA might possibly get voted to be the worst company in America...

http://consumerist.com/2012/04/worst-company-in-america-2012-final-death-match-bank-of-america-vs-ea.html

The list is hilarious so I'm not really surprised.

Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.

Do we really need to name them all? You can start with Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 and then we can start listing off all the failed MMO's they started and killed in record time. Earth and Beyond, The Sims Online, Motor City Online, ect.

You should tell him how many good game studios EA destroyed. I don't want to see BioWare to be the next....

Looking for good ARPGs!

All in all, this vote proves that making a serious vote being internet only is just asking some kids to rule the world.

Dude, this "stat" is getting old. We're going to need some updated numbers as of April, 2012. I bet you it's probably around 400K by now, if that much.

They deserve the worst games company vote but worst company in America? That's just silly and all it shows is that gamers as a whole don't have a clue.

Somehow... I don't think this is going to put a dent in EA's sales.

Cause us gamers will buy the next FIFA/ME/NFL etc..

It's not that they ruined any game.  It is their business practices being bad for the consumer.

They have highlighted two major aspects of EA business practices that make them bad.  The first is nickle and diming the consumer with Day 1 DLC making people pay a few dollars here and there for stuff which in sum total is going to cost over $100.  They see EA as being the pioneer and the main violator of this nickle and dime DLC strategy.

A friend of mine recently complained that Star Wars Kinect costs $200 when you count in the cost of the Kinect.  I kind of laughed at this because most games cost $200 when you add in all of the DLC.  League of Legends is something like $450 for all microtransactions.

Maps used to be something that was free.  Starcraft 2 to this day still makes and distributes free maps.  They even support free map development.  EA makes you pay for every single map in Battlefield 3.

The Sims is pretty terrible as you spend a fortune on all of their "expansion packs" and DLC elements.

Wrath of Heroes will cost players about $30 per hero.  That is steep.  Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun will cost about $20 per deployment.

A second argument is made that since EA has an exlucisivity agreement with many sports corporations (FIFA and NFL) they are creating the exact same game every single year with very little innovation and pushing it out and selling it to all of the fans.  Because there is no competition for them they are allowed to push out the same stale games over and over and over.

On this similar note they are accused of attempting to take out the competition.  If a studio is getting too big and too powerful they will buy it out or purchase a similar studio and fill it full of money to develop something huge to get rid of the competition.

When Blizzard was getting big because of Warcraft they bought out Redwood Studios (makers of Command and Conquer)

When Bethesda was getting big because of their RPGs they bought out Bioware.

When social games starting taking over they bought out Popcap Games

When Simulators became huge they bought out Bullfrog Productions (makers of Theme Hospital) and Maxis (makers of Sim City)

They bought out DICE when shooter became huge to try and knock Activision out of the game.

They bught out the Virgin Group after Ubisoft was having massive successes in child themed console games.  For the same reason why bought out Pandemic Studios.  Pandemic of course was making Activision titles until this point.

And most of these studios don't exist anymore.  Maxis is a brand now, it is not a studio.  In fact out of all of these the only studios that are really still around are Popcap Games and Bioware.

Are EA as damaging to America as most of the companies on this list?  No, they do not have that kind of influence.  Are their business practices some of the worst for consumers?  Definitely.

If banks took the same approaches that EA does the country would fall apart instantly.

EA actually makes really good games as well.

Other than Journey/Flower, Alice Maddness Returns is a shining example of 'Games are ART' statement.

Dead Space series was also really well done.
