I can not imagine that the WoW players and the WoD players would ever intersect but perhaps I am delusional. I see those as two very different players does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |

For me Wod i am hoping sticks to the style of it being more about gathering resources, discovering lost history or such, and political standings in clans or factions, with combat being more of a back burner item. WoD was never abotu the combat completely, but it had an intereting system for combat events, whiel the primary function was a story telling adventure that dealt with actually experincing the world as well as interacting with the world thru the character you created. |

Sounds interesting to me, and I love a good sandbox. But you might also want to consider that for once, its not the usual fantasy or scifi genre as the setting. It sounds like a horror game set to an MMO, which would be something new. That alone will attract multitudes of people just to try it.

If there is one thing I have learned from reading your posts, in the TOR forum, is that it is considered good for a forum to have someone constantly nag about a product they have no interest in playing. With the mechanics being offered, the NGE talk should already be in motion. This game has epic fail written all over it.
FFA PVP alone will limit the appeal of this game. I cant see CCP not putting in "safe zones" ala EVE. Between FFA PVP, and making a womens fashion show online, there is going to be some epic reading going on in the WoD forums. Folks should be getting popcorn stocked up.
It is a shame though, cause a couple of great posters here are looking forward to this game. I hope for their sake it works out, but I dont see it. Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget. |

For myself i think that which of the great factions in the VtM setting control a city determines how you can act in the city, suuch as how if you are in a Sabbat controled city the laws that keep the masquerade in place do not apply, but in a city that is controlled by the Camarilla will be far more controlled thru the traditions making it somewhat safer to play in compared to a Sabbat city, while areas like rural areas or smaller towns might be fully independent of both groups allowing for the players to play as they wish no matter what group they are in. So in a way the cities could be seen as protected zones that are largely free of conflict, while non-aligned cities or more rural areas are like the more pvp space in EvE. |

I think Blood Hunt Permadeath will be Okay *if* they require certain criteria be met before the Prince is able to click that "Blood Hunt" button. Otherwise, Princes might call Blood Hunts because he doesn't like your face, or because his girlfriend thinks you're cute. |

my hope is that they have open FFA PvP, all the consequences for your character are handled in game. In other words, you can attack that human or Kindred for whatever reasons you want to, but it will have repercussions for your character. A previous poster said that this will be incredibly hard to implement, and it will, but if they get it right it will make all the difference for this game. I hope that all the princes start off as GM's, then as the community matures, players start taking over those positions. You also have to remember that the position of Prince will (should) have a lot of in game controls to what they can do. Even once a player Prince ousts on of the GM's, there should still be GM's on whatever council of elders advises the Prince, so if he/she starts to get out of hand abusing his power, they could step in and oust him with the support of other players. The council can also monitor the Prince to make sure he is fulfilling his responsibilities (i.e. supporting the masquerade, granting/not granting progeny rights to those who have/have not earned them). There are a multitude of ways that the devs can control gameplay and out of control players with too much power within the game, its just a matter of how creative they want/can get in implementing them. Even without the controls I don't see player Princes getting as out of control in WoD as an equivalent player would get in WoW, but it will happen, in some cases enough that the player experience will suffer, so I see a lot of previous poster's points on that, but as long as there are good controls, most of that should be avoided. I didn't play much PnP VtM, but I think the only way a prince can call a blood hunt would be on a vampire who diablerized another vampire. I think depending on circumstances, if one vampire kills (true death) another in combat, one may be called, but most other "offenses" are handled in other ways. Plus, in vampire society a prince may be final word in his city, but he still has to answer to his clan's justicar, other powerful kindred in the city (whose numbers could have GM's mixed in), not to mention other princes (especially those of the same clan), plus, all the members of the clan whose member he wants to call a blood hunt on. |

If CCP follows the Vampire Masqurade rules perma-death will be difficult to pull off.
Vampires dont die easily in that game system. They go into a state called "Torpor" or however its spelled. Its a state of near death, they are healing, EXTREMELY slowly. Its like a coma.
If they add Werewolves aka Garou which I really hope they do, again perma-death will be difficult to pull off.
Most Garou are able to get away from any situation that could lead to them dieing if they are smart. And they are more than a match for any Vampire of like "age".
Then finally the balancing act of adding the third "race" would be either Mage: The accension, or Hunters (which are humans who are aware of supernaturals and hunt them.)
It should be interesting either way. So much crap, so little quality. |

But that being said, places like havens and Elysium will most likly be guarded or at least policed against PvP considering the rules set down in the PnP game. And outside of that i would guess it will work a bit like it did back in UO... pretty much if you did dumb shit anyone could attack you wihtout the risk of a reputation loss. Same thing here.. Do dumb shit and you will loose your head. This have been a good conversation |
