This kinda thing that makes me leery, the leaked photos actually didn't come from this weekends beta, and thus were not under the current NDA which is why there being allowed to stay up on guru. Considering Rubi has posted in a leaked thread about not making the facebook qoute on guru. I have to say its a legit item.

If they remove it from the press beta without making a statement saying its not going to be in the game.

There just leaving you to make the assumption they took it out. And when they added it back in they can say something along the lines they wanted paying customers to be the first to get to see whats inside them.

Now if they say they took it out and keep it out all the better. Now they need to look at their lockboxes and keys and the trollaphone.

I don't particularly like the repair kits either, but thats less about what the item does and more about how they said for a while death was enough punishment. Then they added in this death penalty which I label as an inconvenience, then the fix for the inconvenience is put in the cash shop. That says to me they added in an inconvenience simply so they could sell an item in the cash shop.

While I don't agree with the idea of them adding inconveniences simply so they can sell convenience items the repair kit is still a lesser of evils in my eyes.

Its really not me playing so I can't confirm if its entirely true, maybe the guy just do not saw it or something like it

But if they remove it, I doubt they would put it back later

there is no possible way to leak photos from this event.  the game itself is covered with your email address, so if you print screen or anything they will know.

I am not in beta

its just a little shade, can still do it with a black filtering, not that you would.

I can say that its 4am here, going to bed now extremely satisfied, and i want to be put in a coma until release date.

Tomorrow I shall end the seamless vs non seamless world debate once and for all, with my good arguments

You could do that, but these leaks happened before this beta started so they certainly did not come from this beta weekend :)

Do we all really believe that companies still use Betas to help iron out the last remaining issues?

How many times have we heard over and over and over ad nauseam. "That was brought brought up during Beta and they just ignored it."?

Betas are free marketing, publicity and Hype. more than anything else.

Well, then I'll alter my statement.

It's great that you were able to have a positive impact on games, but I've ssen too many instances where beta bug reports went ignored. OK, Where people claimed in the forums later on..."That was brought up in the beta"

I'll clarify that because it was on the Internet.

Edit 1:
Actually, after I think about it some more, I am leaning back towards my original statement.
We are talking about a beta access that was sold as part of the CE?.
How serious can it be as a beta if anyone who waved a few extra bucks gets to beta this game?

Oh there's no doubt they use it as a promotional and even "try the game! " sort of thing.  Yea.  That they do.  Heck even GW2 is doing it I think.  Is it not true that if you preorder the game or something you get into all Betas?

Yea its something of a mixed bag these days.  It does help iron out the game, and thats the only purpose of it really once upon a time.  But in almost every instance now days they also use it as a promotional tool.  Killing two birds with one stone I guess.

Im not a huge fan of it, because I take Betas extremely seriously as though I have a job to do if I get into one.  I can enjoy myself sure, but I have work to do in compensation for my invite.  The whole marketing thing cheapens it to me kinda.

Actually with guild wars 2 you gotta pay in full up front to get into all the beta events. With a pre-order you generally but down 5 bucks, here they want a full pre-purchase.

However my tinfoil hat isn't so thick that i suspect evil intention with that, I think this is more of a cut down on the people who pay 5 bucks, then cancel after they get their beta keys.

Yes buy our game and get Beta time, same ripoff as the cash shop but please spin it otherwise at least in TERA I just had to put $5 down to CBT.

Which is why I say that treating betas the way these gaming companies (All of them) do is something of a joke.

It's not even a case of "Not everyone" because that makes it sound like only a few.
But the vast majority do not take it serious like you do. To them it's Early access.

I work for a software vendor as a systems guy. I support our product on SQL and IIS servers. I am not in Development, however, Our Dept find more bugs than our QA.

I know what kind of process is needed to Beta. And this joke that passes for it is nothing of the sort.

I assure you. When Open Beta comes around.

Beta (the real one) is looooong gone. And by this time, I am pretty confident that the Devs don't even pay much attention to what some of these early access "ME 1st" kiddies even submit.

Well said, but they will sure as hell pawn it off otherwise to get a FULL purchase price for their game so you can particpate in a beta that you think can make a difference, LULZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im hugely looking forward to GW2 but no, Im not going after the beta prize.  They want me, I'll go in and do my job.  Im doing THEM a favor not the other way around.  Im a good tester.

Meanwhile I'll buy the game shortly after release but only if I feel I have a good scope of the final product by reading user reviews, and other sources.  As much as I THINK I love GW2, Im going to be sure before taking any kind of plunge.  It just doesnt work that way with me.  Not falling for the "pay us and you can haz beta! ".   Im patient.  And careful.  Its just my style.

Shame more people do not think like you, but the rabid around us will pay upfront for a game just to say I am a beta tester so sad

I thought everyone was so damned polarized on this game that even simply being cautiously optimistic would get you labeled as a hater here.

Kudos to you. With that attitude, I have no doubt that you will not be disappointed in GW2.

For me. GW2 is out. They are double dipping and I won't subsidize that. To me the message to be sent is more important. Since I can clearly see the direction the industry is taking our genre

Meh, I should just take it as a sign that it's time to grow up and heed my own avatar's namesake.

I am with you as well, did not buy or play ME3 and will not do it here, ANET has lost all credibility with me.

I take Betas extremely seriously as though I have a job to do if I get into one.  I can enjoy myself sure, but I have work to do in compensation for my invite.  The whole marketing thing cheapens it to me kinda.

ANet has lost SOME credibility, for sure. But I don't think I would say they have NO credibility.

That title goes to FunCom hands down.

Blizzard bans more than you know for NDA, several people back on Tichondrius worked for Blizz or knew people and got into alpha and NDA beta's and then leaked it to their guilds... many were banned with some collateral damage.

NDA is fine, some games have it, others don't. TSW has it.. I wish I could tell you why its saving that games butt *evil grin*

This is you.

OMG they added a cash shop with no game breaking items just like they said they would but I am going to be mad about it anyways because I have nothing better to do in my crappy little life.

I hope people like you stay out of the game anyways, I will just stop here since you and your kind are not worth getting banned over.

So typical of GW2 fans anymore like, they attack you for voicing YOUR concerns, good job supporting NCSoft
