seven day trial up and running..luckily enough i kept this game in from beta .even though i didnt sub or buy..oh well here goes.lets see if it is has bad as all say it is.

its common sense to do free trials for freinds of your players. for the record a week ago bioware stated they have 1.7 millioon active subs, Almost all of them paying customers ./ 

So if thats dying, almost free 2 play, or hurting game i dont know what a succesful game is. 

well i chose a jedi consular..and atm i,m quite suprised .its quite fun.but i must say the character models are bad..mine looks like he's been on a 600 yr diet.but i do like the story stuff so far.

Not to nit pick, but what BW actually said is that they retained the VAST MAJORITY of the 1.7 million subs reported the month previous, so...not quite 1.7 million, likelly 1.2-1.6.

The 1.7 number is being spun as though it is 1.7 million credit cards being charged.

I am an active subscriber although I have never activated a retail code or put a payment method on file. Got the 7 day invite tonight as well.

There are not, I repeat NOT 1.7 million people paying to play this game.

None of you have the slightest clue as to what you are talking about.  You don't know a single thing about Biowares subscriptions to SWTOR other than what they have told us.  Have they distorted the number for P.R. purposes?  Of course they did!  Every MMO--nay--game pads their numbers in any way that they can.  You all can sit and speculate on what them giving out a free trial means, but that is all it is.  Giving away free time means absolutely nothing in regards to SWTOR's or any MMO's current health.  If you are going to use that logic than every MMO (Yup even precious World Of Warcraft) has been failing for years.

You all need to stop presenting your opinions as facts.  It doesn't do anyone any good and it only serves to pollute these forums.

Oh yeah, and pre-gratz to the "original" person who is going to make their percieved witty comment about this post being nothing more than my opinion so its just as silly as anyone else's.

Nope, not at all, read exactly what was being quoted:

So what I think a lot of people have misunderstood is we said we had 1.7 million subscribers on the last call, which was about a month ago. What that was about was the fact that only about – just about half that number had triggered through their 30-day point and become active subscribers, our definition of recurring subscribers.

We had about half that total still in the 30-day trial period, but they're subscribers because that first month is including with a package good. What I said a month ago was, just over half. I can now confirm for you today that the vast majority of the 1.7 is now triggered through that point and they're recurring subscribers.

I am not giving you my fiscal 2013 guidance, but it is very clear on the surface that some of the craziness that was out there in terms of misunderstanding [ph] this is that I can (10:04) clear up today. It's a very strong entry. We still have a lot of future in front of us. We're two months into the launch, a lot more to go, but 1.7 million, vast majority now, are recurring subscribers.

So, to repeat, of those 1.7 in Feb, most resubbed at some point in time.  So for example, if 75% of those subbed got charged at some point on their CC, it says nothing about the retention rates of those subs.  So if 50% of those that were once charged cancelled, we could see sub numbers around the 600-700k mark CURRENTLY.

That is the only comment he made.  Be very careful with langauge.

wow it didnt take long to get on about how many subs this game has..i dont care atm,i,m havin fun..all that matters to me.

7 days is just long enough to get you hooked.  It'll be itneresting to see if the OP decides to pay for a month and how he'll respond after 21 days into the sub when he reaslises he's playing a repetative, shallow game with little in the way of actual MMO functionality.  Oh, I mean, Good luck, I hope you love the game after a month when you pay for the game!  It doesn't get dull or restrictive until about 3 weeks in.  Don't say you weren't warned!

((PS  Yes.  Yes I do flame this game.  Yes, I hate it.  Yes, I am very angry that I spent money on it instead of listening to the negative reviews because I thought the negative reviewers were just jaded 'haters'.  Silly me.))

If the trial convinces you to buy the game, I wouldn't worry too much about what everyone around here says. If you enjoy it, buy it, if not don't.

It would be interesting to hear the perspective of a new player as everyone I know has been playing since launch. Make sure to come back here and let us know what you think.

well i've been playing a while now..taking my time and not hitting spacebar at all..atm its really enjoyable..has i said in previous post,the char models are bad..but the gfx aint has bad as what i thought.not that,that really matters.standard quest kill x amount etc,but the thing is if you do the story..i mean listen to the  whole thing you dont seem to notice thats what they are,well at least imo anyways..at lvl 9 and came across my first major problem.

gon into cave to retrieve crystal for weapon,but latency shot up to 40k..only one other person in the area,relogged,tried again,same thing.nothin in pc running in background either.dont know if others have had this problem,maybe just me..but all in all so far..game is a lot better than i imagined.

i guess i could see myself buying this but for 1 problem..even at release i was reluctant to pay £45 for this game..and i stick to that..if they reduce the cost then yes,nps i could see3 myself having hours of fun on this.pleasantly suprised.

what i will say is..they coulod have done so much more with this game also..but i'll leave that for another day.

if xfire is anything to go by, swtor has around 25% of the playing hours thta it had in the 1st month. so either BW are lying, or there are a LOT of people still paying a sub but barely playing the game.

And yes i know everyone says that xfire is not an accurate way to monitor game activity buy i disagree.  I appreciate not everyone uses xfire but it gives you an idea of game time from a section of gamers. as of yesterday there were mor preople playing battlefield 3 and mincraft than swtor

I just bought the game after playing the 7-day trial. I've been reading these forums for the last 6 months, so I know what I'm getting into ;)

As a modern themepark MMO (i.e. casual, easy to play, single-player oriented), SWTOR delivers what I expect from it. I'm not interested in the PVP aspect of TOR, so it's "failings" in that area are of no concern to me. The game entertains me, and that's all that matters to ME.

The thing I find most irritating is the fixed UI, and that is being changed (hopefully) in patch 1.2, along with slightly better character detail. The gfx are not stellar, but they're not that awful if you don't zoom in too close, hehe

I came to SWTOR with fairly low expectations, and I've generally been pleasantly surprised. The game only cost 38 euro via Amazon, so it's a much better deal now than at launch.

Its good some of you are doing the trial and enjoying it.

I enjoyed it too, but after a few months ive had enough. Too many obstacles for enjoyment, not enough content and i dont like making alt after alt.
