If only Anet didnt have such a complex log in process I'd be playing GW instead.
Anway title says it all once again. MMO X can mean any MMO.

Yup I really do sometimes. Some failures just should be put to sleep instead of changing them into p2w model. For example I would like to play a good Lord of the Rings MMO but with Turbine keeping their own on life support and milking cash via item store and subpar "expansions" it won't happen. This annoying p2w trend is also making MMO companies believe that whatever shite they come out with, they can always introduce cash shop after subs start to decline rapidly and live happily ever after.

I had to say yes as well. There is no reason for Devs/Publishers to innovate or do more for their customers if terrible, shallow, buggy MMOs continue to find a way to generate a profit. |

For me all those "F2P" titles that are actually pay2win can really die a horrible slow death for all i care. As for games with subs like WAR, SWTOR, WOW, and EQ2.....i hope that people can enjoy their game to the fullest. All matter of taste :)

Wow I'm shocked at the results so far. Must be that people on early in the morning are more cynical I guess? Not seeing why anyone would want a MMO to fail. Different strokes and all that make the MMO world go around. But maybe all the irrational hate toward TOR is clouding my thoughts. I DO wish any game that has Day-one DLC's would fail though. THAT is ruining the gaming industry (I'm looking right at you EA |

Not really no. If other people enjoy playing a game, why would that bother me. Only thing I wish for is more Vanguard players, but alas ! After the SWTOR shock in december, we suddenly seem to have a new wave of incomes now. Even on Halgar there are more players online now. |

No, I just wish an MMO would come out that I can truely enjoy again. I don't care if people like what I don't, I just want a game that is fun. |

I feel bad for saying it but yes... unfortunately its not the game developers fault its the publishers most often. Greed tends to over-take the game and it just makes me hope it fails for the sake of it. SWtor I am sure would of been a great game if the game developers really could do their thing instead of just being pushed to be generic as possible to 'limit' chances of failure. I'll bet you it was done in part due to publisher demands combined with the teams lack of mmo knowledge. Add in the huge budget and it just screams that it has to fail to me. I don't want companies to feel they need to toss money carelessly away avoiding any real inovations (Sorry, dialog trees existed in single player games they did, only new part is the /roll dialog in dungeons) and get away with it to milk money off the consumer. |

I said Yes because I hate to see good IP's tied up by MMO's that I don't care for. LOTRO and STO are two notable examples of IP's that practically beg to be made into well fleshed out virtual worlds yet remain tied up in titles that fall short in multiple ways.
Unfortunately both titles continue on F2P life support so it's unlikely we'll see anything new come out for either franchise for many years to come. (In the MMO space at least)

I had to say no. Only because I wish it was the playerbase that would get smarter. I dont mean people are stupid for liking a certain game. I mean people standing up for what they think. Like me. When WOW released the cosmetic cash shop I cancled. I can honestly say (and not care what other think) that I was enjoying the game. But to me a cash shop ontop of a subscription is bullshit. However I did see several people complaining about it in trade chat but they refused to speak with thier money. They just wanted to complain. Again with ME3. Plenty of people have said that the day1 DLC is bullshit but they will get the game anyway. You know what that tells the company and other companies? Day1 DLC is fine.
So no, I cant blame developers or even publishers at this point. Its gamers that keep bending over and saying "More please" so why wouldnt they shove it in there dry? |

Up until recently i would have always answered NO! However after playing SWTOR I can now say i actively wish for that game to fail. I want it to fail because i dont ever want another MMO company to think that:
a.) stale voice overs = content in an mmo b.) solo player "story" = sustainable content in an mmo c.) releasing with a UI that wouldnt pass muster in 2002 is ok d.) not fixing that UI 2+ months into the game is ok e.) having literally NO social features in one of the richest/lore filled/social "worlds" ever created. f.) releasing a game with ZERO guild functionality. g.) releasing an MMO that by design has people standing in an "off world" hub waiting for a queue. h.) releasing the game with its current version of SPACE. I truly hope it is a spectacular failure and smolders for years-a real cautionery tale for game companies in the future. Already i saw a new AAA title (soon to release) boasting about their voice overs! Really? they spent even $1,000 on that? DONT DO IT! Your players wont care for more than two weeks-we have better single player games for this. |

Maybe used to a little, but then I realized that it is a big world and if a certain game fails it'll create a lot of problem for those making the game. So I am always hoping that they succeed in bright and shine colors. Guild Wars 2's 50 minutes game play video: |

I dont hope or wish for MMOs to fail. I wish that companies would realize that not every MMO should be 60 bucks plus a monthly sub fee. The only problem with that is that they wont realize this till their game fails. It's why I hope GW2 does good so people realize that not everything has to be like WoW even in price point. |

Never ever hope that anything fails really. I want every MMO to be everything the dev envisioned it to be. The sad reality is that MMOs are a business and have many factors that negatively influence game design. The ultimate EvE online may have included people living on the planets in a futuristic social structure. (Or something a bit cooler I don't know too much about EvE) The ultimate WoW might have included tameable dragons and rendered cut scenes at regular intervals to show us the story. Like in Warcraft or Starcraft - a few missions and then you're rewarded with a badass story cinematic to carry you through the storyline. Some of the clips from a recent Skyrim dev video showed many mechanics that were not included in the final product. I have to say I would have liked to see many of those options in game too, (Dark dungeons, werebears, lycan skill tree and spears too) No game that has released has ever been 100% finished. The funny thing is that devs have come up with really cool ideas already but were unable to implement it because it was not: 1) Financially viable, extra code means extra work means extra money. One small change can have far reaching and unforeseen consequences. 2) Technologically viable - as cool as something might be if it means having to rebuild other parts from the ground up chances are it will not see the light of day. 3) Physically viable - some things just take a long long time to do. Unless it had been planned for it is hard to make space for a time consuming project. Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

NEVER NEVER NEVER. I might think a game will fail, and even expect it to, but why would I wish there to be less joy in the world??? Especially for selfish reasons since my #1 hobby is gaming. Hell I'd play a game that is boxed in baby seal fur if it was an epic experience... GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" |
