Simply, Sony/LA thought their product was too complex and so dumbed it down with the NGE. Will EA decide the WoW clonething isn't working and perform a reverse NGE to sandbox things up.
Will SWG fans explode with irony.

I don't think they could turn the game into a sandbox without making an entirely new game. Pretty much all NGE did was change the character advancement.
So I guess they could re-do character progression, effectively pulling a backwards NGE, but the game would still be heavily themepark.
I don't know if I want to be a bounty hunting smuggling Jedi though. |

It should be possible to add a sandbox feature to the game without causing harm to the current design. Below are some of my ideas(some may not be totally sandbox). Basically add/work on the following content:
- Add new Planets with less focus on linear content( More then enough options: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars_planets ) - Each new world offer player housing options like SWG - Planets scale player level much like a warzone(Not too sure on this idea, your thoughts?). - Add faction control points through each world which reset each day. The faction controlling gets additional bonuses for that planet only - (Faction control points) Bonuses to include additional abilities, like air support, extra companion, Planet locals do not attack on sight, etc. - Random high level named mob and NPC bases that spawn in random areas of the Planet. - Add PVP based based combat that ties into the Planetary factional control points(Could have a space station you need to take control of or something above the Planet).
I'm sure I could come up with some more concepts, but these are some I feel should be at the top. Normally I spend all my time reading posts, but I can no longer stand by and watch what should be a good game go down in flames.

Originally posted by RefMinor To me SWTOR is running the same path as Age of Conan. If you remember, AoC sold over a million copies and had almost the same number of subcriptions. Sadly, bugs in that game drove a third of the player base to concel and the other half due to lack of endgame content. |

Originally posted by William12 if only, if they really did have those kinds of figures then Bioware/EA would be very happy indeed, as it is.. so many have abandoned ship that im wondering how far below 500k current subs are. adding complexity would help, but mostly the games biggest problem is grouping, and a lack of it, more grouping options and a reason to even have guilds in the game, would be a good thing. |

lol I was calling for this a week into playing it. I was thinking...we need a NGE to be what pre-NGE star wars was! Then of course everyone is like (this game is perfect/everything I want), but hey, to each their own.
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors. |

Originally posted by RefMinor 2 mil sold before, at or just after launch which just speaks for the $150 mil of the $200 mil dev cost spent on advertisement and hype. The other $50 mil musta been used for pizza and donuts. Wouldn't it be nice to be the nearest Dominos and Crispy Cream?
As for 1 mil still subscribing, I honestly doubt it now, I really do.
Smart people waited for the game to launch to KNOW if it's any good. Notice there's been no news of continuing "record breaking sales" of late?
As for doing a reverse NGE, Leia said it best in her message to Obi Wan. "Your my only hope". No clue how a single player game with zero social aspects can maintain monthly subscribers. Multi-player groups and a chat channel is not the social aspects I'm looking for. |

Originally posted by William12 Even if your figures are true what you have to think is after 2 months you lost 50% of your players. All I can say is lol.
Edit: The question should be 'is SW:TOR the MMO thats lost the most subscribers in the first month after launch?' |

They said over 2 million sell through. That means bought by a customer.

Originally posted by dubyahite They said 2m sold and 1.7 activated, which would leave 300k potentially on the shelves although some could be just sitting in people's homes as unwanted gifts maybe. "i don't waste my time building relationship in games" - nariusseldon |

Originally posted by RefMinor Lol never gonna happen. Besides it would be as big disaster as NGE for SWG.
You just don't change game drastically like that - it is death sentence.
Besides - if changing sandbox into bad themeparkisch game is theoretically possible ,then other way around it would be muh more diffrent and in case of Swtor impossible.
They would have to rewrite whole game , in many places from scratch. + their current engine is very limited ,especially that it is impossible to update it LOL ( Bioware use pre-release early version of HeroEngine they heavily modifired themselves so it is impossible to update it by normal means , they would have to make custom update cooperating with guys from IdeaFabrik m thus paying them alot of money and spending alot of time with unknown result. Heh
Besides this is bigger sc-fi than whole SW.
EA and Bioware will never go sandbox style with Swtor heh -actually I wonder if they ever did sandbox game ,even an non-mmo one. |

Originally posted by RefMinor No. That's not what was said at all. In fact the haters were using this as an example of how 'terrible' the game is. It was 2m sold, with 1.7 ACTIVE subs at the time of the financial report. What this meant is that 300k+ had not renewed their subs.
Also, more on topic. No MMO developer is ever going to pull an NGE-style revamp ever again. The industry learned its collective lesson from the SOE debacle. |
