Originally posted by artemisentr4 Art; you, me and the people who love SWTOR understand that a good story along with vo and cs are what make it fun and immersive and interesting, the others dont get it, or they dont read ,or dont love movies, and certainly that is ok for them but why do they have to post time and again about there SWTOR hatred? |

Originally posted by Kuinn Rift is an interesting combo of Guild wars and wow and every other mmo it seems, again not a bad game but gets dull fast, and the many use of skills which at first intrigeing become diffused and you find yourself wondering who you are and what your identity is. The story line is sad at best and of course limited vo and cs , just like all your other mmo's. fun factor in this game is average, it seems to have its fans but you never really hear any super enthusiasm for rift, it is the Al Gore of MMO's and i say this as a democrat |

Glad you are enjoying the game OP. I'm having fun with it although there are enough irritants in the game that may make me quit the game rather soon, Regarding the story, I think the stories are a bit hit and miss in the game. I started off with the Jedi Knight, still at level 40 with that one, and frankly was a bit disappointed by the story overall. It seemed more like a superhero story. However, my next character has been an Imperial Agent, currently in the third chapter, and have to say that the story is much better than the JK one. |

Of the ones I've tried, the bounty hunter story has been my favorite. Nothing beats bringing in a person's head for payment ;) NGE killed SWG. Get over it like the rest of us did in 2005. |

Originally posted by eddieg50 As I've said before, you don't play a movie, you don't take control of a movie (and no, making one of 3 choices that all lead to the same thing doesn't mean control), you watch a movie.. you watch a cutscene.. and then you play the game. Unfortunately the game part of TOR is so bland that it quickly becomes very boring. It's the same jumping into a group of 3 mobs, killing them all, then moving on to the next group, repeat until you reach the clickable glowing thing. Click it. Kill 3 mobs, move to the next group, kill 3 mobs, return to the quest giver. While some might say that all MMO's are like this, with TOR's shiny cutscenes it aspires to be so much more, but the amount of time put into one section of the game (cutscenes) compared to the other (everything else) is glaringly obvious and the quality becomes just so jarring. |

Originally posted by DJJazzy Yes I do admit that the Jedi Knight is prob one of the weakest stories in SWTOR but still light years ahead of most mmo's |

Originally posted by UsualSuspect IMO that is what makes the game so much fun, how boring is it just to go from quest to quest not bothering to read half of them and just kill, kill , kill for no reason- what drudgery yechhhh. The Cut scenes bring the game to life allow you to truly interact with the game and give you a real reason to play |

For the many people who have been writing with their hatred of SWTOR or who just dont understand why millions of us find it fun. I can empathize with you somewhat. I hate Eve, I cannot stand to look at a dark screen with little dots on it and play a spread sheet game with poor PvE IMO. Then I realized its not Eve's fault , I just dont like that style of play while millions do. I stopped blaming Eve and moved on to find the games that fit my style and with SWTOR I have found it |

Originally posted by UsualSuspect You just described the modern-day MMORPG genre. New and different would be nice, but at least the story and cutscenes do the same old thing in a more interesting way. |

Sorry, but this game has been one of the poorest releases per amount of cash spent that I've ever had the misfortune to play in the last twenty years online. The run down of issues, bugs, short comings, bad PR and CE has got to go down in history. You could write a book on the subject, it still amazes me how many people blindly 'rah-rah' this game. It definitly is not a true mmorpg, it is more like a stand alone rpg that they tacked on "some" elements of what mmorgps have.
Spent a little time and do some searches on the amount of issues this supposed mmorpg has. You could list pages of line item bullets of the issues from graphical to UI. 100million or 300million, it was too much spent for too little 'good' return. It is almost like Bioware read the Evil Overlords book on how to screw up by the numbers when designing, coding and releasing an mmorpg and ran with it. The game breaks immersion, doesn't understand what an immersive game world is actually. Words fail me actually with how badly this was done and how badly Bioware has handled each phase. I admit that I lost a lot of respect for Bioware, and won't be on the band wagon to try out a future mmorpg release of theres. I said the same thing after Funcom's disasterous release of AoC, fool me once, shame on you fool me twice shame on me.
No more collectors editions from Funcom or now Bioware for me. I won't give them that sort of customer loyalty. I'm good for supporting a company I believe in so that they can put out a product I want to play, but Bioware really screwed the hooch on this one. The Secret World will have to have a lot of "player" comments of how it works, how it looks and what they think before I even think about it. Bioware moved into that same cmap that Funcom lives in.
To bad Trion's Rift didn't really suck me in, I love how that company does business, and their customer service and PR is top notch. We need more Trions and less Funcoms and Biowares when it comes to operations.
p.s: add on note, the poster talked about the passive nature of this rpg nailed that. |

Originally posted by eddieg50 I think LotR does. An argument could be made for AoC too. Anyways, who said you have to agree with me? ...and who is this "we" anyhow? 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

Originally posted by Wickedjelly Final Fantasy XI has awesome storylines in the form of missions, and quest arcs. Everquest had one hell of a backstory as well. And although I really dislike the game itself, I'd have to say the Warcraft back story is pretty in-depth as well. The only real difference is SWTOR forces you through the story to advance. In the other games, its mostly optional. Thats not to say SWTOR's story is bad; its better than a lot of other games out there; but by no means is it the best. |
