NCSoft has sent us some amazing stats about Lineage II: Truly Free. From what we can see, the transition from a traditional subscription-based MMO to a free to play title has been awesomely successful. Check it:

Get started on your 'truly free' journey NCSoft has almost quadrupled its revenue in two months I'm sorry, truly what again? "Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. It is a brand on the imagination that affects the individual who has suffered it, forever." - Noam Chomsky |

I'm really happy to see Lineage2 doing well again. I re-downloaded the game again and tried to play, however... it has just changed too much for me.
All the people I used to play with are gone, the community I knew have either quit or maybe moved to new servers, and all the core gameplay has changed. That and none of the people I currently game with ever played L2, so I can't drag them back with me.
Without some people I know to get back into the game, I'm afraid I'm just going to have to pass this up. Which is sad really, as I find Lineage2 was the second best PvP MMO i've played.
Best wishes to everyone who is playing on the newly populated servers with lots of familar faces. Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats. |

I dunno. Figures like that are to be expected in the first months after going F2P or freemium, due to people being curious, but I wonder how it'll be after those first try out months. Also, Lineage had something like 1-2 million people playing it at its peak (mostly Koreans or South East Asians, but still). If those figures include Korea, then 250-300k isn't that enormously high. I guess Aion has taken over the prime spot from the Lineage line of MMO's in Korea.

Lets see if people attack these numbers the way Bioware's were.
Wait, NCsoft is making Guild Wars 2... These numbers are fact, nothing to see here |

Maybe you should snuggle up under a blanket and have a hot chocolate, that might help you feel better. All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick. |

Amen, man.^ I think it's great. People like to spend money the way they like instead of being tied to a subscription, and this kinda shows that. I'm happy to see L2 doing well! |

"The concurrent player base as increased more than 800%" PLAYERBASE..? What are they talking about? Lineage II is back to it's dark ages of 2008 again. Everywhere you look you see BOTS BOTS BOTS. I bet less than 10% of the PLAYERBASE is legit :'( |

The game is FULL OF BOTS , FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLL, All channels are spammed with gold sellers. Gms dont bann botters. THeres like 5% real players. many duo or quatriple account, since you can open as many clients as possible. I stopped playing at lvl 67. To much grind for me.
Besides: lvl 85-99 is now like lvl 1-85(old times). |

Originally posted by SwampDragons I don't know what the real percentage, but there really does appear to be a lot of bots, more often than not I felt like the only "live" player in an entire field of avatars...but who knows, maybe they all thought I was a bot too. If it truly is, I'm glad to see this game doing well. From what I've seen of it, it looks like a good game. I've never tried it, but I have always wanted to. |
