That's good and all, but this quote from the devs excites me more about the game's audio...
"Finally, no matter how fantastic a game’s music is, when you hear the same music for the thousandth time, you start wanting to change things up a bit. Many players will simply turn the game music off and play their own collections. The problem is that an external music player has no context as to what’s going on in-game. Guild Wars 2 will offer a solution for this as well. We’re giving players the option of choosing external music playlists that the game’s audio engine will use as a replacement for the default in-game music. Players can choose different playlists for background ambience and battle music, for instance. Additionally, when appropriate, such as during cinematics, the game can revert back to in-game music temporarily to give the best possible cinematic experience, then resume the custom playlist when it’s done." |

I dont care what anyone says.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=XUVLclPDCBE#t=20s This is the single greatest moment of video game sound for me... it still gives me shivers "Don't mistake a fun game for a good game... Checkers is fun to play but its not exactly the highest point of gaming design... and definatly not worth $60 plus $15 a month" |

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Ear rape is all well and good, but what effects me more are the little things like how some mobs truly sound like they are in pain when they die. |

That sounds freakin ridiculously awesome. The very definition of ingenuity, or dare I even say, innovation. And its just the music player. Although if they really want to keep it from getting redundant, they should consider working out a deal with Pandora :)
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Good stuff, though I'm still looking forward to using my own tracks and not having to Alt-Tab out during cutscenes and such. |

While I really like the sound, I could get sick of the "Why won't anyone help me" routine very fast. Woy too much of it in that first video clip. The graphics were good, much better than I have see from other recently released video games, but... I really hope the actual game play is better than either of the clips shown or I may endup playing the orginal Guild Wars more. Neither of the clips excites me near as much as any of the video clips from the orginal game, there is just something missing, not sure what. So I wait for the game to come out and hope it as good as I expect. Maybe it's just that I am not the one playing it. |

Also, why the Comic Sans in all your posts? |

Originally posted by Master10K Why the Comic Sans in all of my posts, Short answer is because it is easer for me to read. Long answer. My vision is "not so good" anymore. But I still see pixels that are not the right color. I chose Comic after quite a bit of testing. It is by far the clearest of the available fonts and this color causes the least amount of blurring. I am not sure why but white text normally appears in darkened (often black) bands that cause the text itself to appear smeared makeing it more difficult for me to read. |

I can't stress enough how important audio is in an MMORPG for the immersion aspect. I had to turn off music in Aion in some places because I couldn't stand the techno beats. AoC had great music. RIFT is a very close second. Can't wait to see GW2's. |

Sound is one area where this game will decidedly not fail; and that's something we can already know before ever playing the game. It's not too often that sound effects and music capture an audience's attention in mere demo videos. Everything sounds fantastic so far: music, spell effects, creature grunts and groans, environmental ambience. On another note, that Asura run animation... It's like he's magically ice skating across the jungle. His feet don't look like they ever actually make contact with the ground. Most of their animations look pretty awesome. You get to feel their size by how difficult it looks for them to wield large weapons and how much it throws them off balance. I read the blog about Asuran animations during Asura week, and I agreed with everything they brought up, but man...that walking animation... |
