For all you minecraft lovers. For all you zelda lovers. I give you Cube World! Cube World (name is changing on release) is an upcoming indie mmorpg-like game that fuses the 2 games we all come to love. Just thought i'd spread the word of this game. Check out these vids and follow on what the game is planning to become, you won't be sorry :P

say what you think about it below
edit: in case people were wondering.. the release question was asked: Generikb asks: i know you don't have a set release date, but any general idea? Like a "QX 201X"? Wollay replies: I'm targeting Q1 2012. |

I actually thought it looked interesting. I've been vaguely curious about minecraft, but I like the better sense of action in this one, and that the characters are at least a little more interesting to look at. I'll probably keep half an eye on it in the future... |

Looks fun, but there's no mining or digging. So it looks like minecraft and there are some sandbox elements, but it doesn't seem to be as openly creative as many of us may be assuming because of the look. From what I can tell, buildings are made from modules displayed as collected cards. I think a minecraft-like MMO with better graphics would be cool though. Quite an accomplishment for one guy anyways. Very impressed. So, let me get this straight. You buy potions in an item shop to help you overcome the difficulty level set by the person selling you the potions. And I'm an old fool that won't get with the times. OK |

On another note - the only sour taste I came away with was actually from the commenters on his blog. There were so many comments saying "Will this be free?" and "I hope this is free unlike Minecraft." Did Mojang do something bad for charging $10 for Minecraft for two years? It's like the internet is filled with traveling bands of begging gamers. Yeah people - this guy isn't looking for a way to love what he does for a living or anything. Dear F2Pers - games are not free. You think you're grinding for free but you're really just working for free for the devs as content for the sub people. If your boss is nice, he may be letting you pay him once in a while so your job is less boring. So, let me get this straight. You buy potions in an item shop to help you overcome the difficulty level set by the person selling you the potions. And I'm an old fool that won't get with the times. OK |

The game itself looks quite interesting and I like the emphasis it has with adventuring, instead of building (from what I saw from that trailer), but saying that "it's like Minecraft"... well, I've been playing MC for a while and besides the pixelated look and the possible use of voxels (yummy destructible environments), it doesn't look like Minecraft at all.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for new "retro" games, but I don't like it when someone blatantly compares the pixelated looks of it to Minecraft, kinda like saying that every MMO is like WoW, every FPS is like Doom or every platformer is like Mario.
I've may been step into fanboy territory, but that was my rant of the day. |

I did not get a 'like Minecraft' feel from it either. Visually, somewhat, yes. Game play wise it seems a lot more like a standard MMO or (as noted in the OP) Zelda. Join the League For Gamers. |

We asked the following question: "Cube World looks a lot like what other game?" Originally posted by SupahGamuh Excuse me, but don't get me wrong. I didn't necessarily specify what characteristics I think Cube World and Minecraft are similar in. I was talking about how they both use voxels, both are sandbox, and both look visually alike to a point. |

to kidish for my taste, wow something my children would play :/ Shame SWG mixed with TOR = game of the century. To bad we can't get a game company to make a good game for a change. |

Originally posted by lizardbones I apologize for sounding a bit "passive-agressive", I was only a bit pissed at the YouTube comments it has, sometimes makes me want to punch a baby. And if I hadn't already stated before, I'm interested in this game, regardless of YouTube kiddies and trolls calling it a "Minecraft clone", wich in my opinion, it's a "Zelda clone with some nods to Minecraft". We need more of these :P |
