Enter Archeage: "The developers promise a community like that of Ultima Online, PvE comparable to typical sandboxes and PvP taken from Lineage 2. The game itself is developed as a “sandbox” – where the player is completely free to choose what to do and how to live. Expanding on this, characters won't be subject to strict limitations on growth, such as is the case in other MMOs. The GRB (Game Rating Board), a South Korean organization that sets game age ratings, gave ArcheAge a 15+ rating. The budget of the game is said to be $25 million; $15 million of an investment from GigaMedia and another $10 million from the company’s budget. The game's designers want players to have a big impact on the world; each server will be unique due to players developing their world’s history and exploring the map in different directions. There are 8 races in the game, 5 of which are said to be unique to ArcheAge." I took this from Archeage's wiki. I don't know how accurate it is. But watching the videos, the game seems to be a mix of Darkfall, lineage, Warhammer online, and world of warcraft. I will break it down. Darkfall: Sandbox feel. Kill whoever. Visit whatever area. Discover the land. Hunt and be hunted. Lineage: The combat is similar to the korean themed pvp grinder. Love it or hate it, they are similiar. Warhammer Online: Emphasis on keeps and territories, similar to lineage and darkfall. World of Warcraft: Tight, responsive controls with dynamic, fast paced, and unique class gameplay. Any true MMORPG pvp with player skill will know what I mean. Leaps and bounds beyond EQ2, SWTOR, and Rift. "The WoW forums are and have always been, the true heartbeat of the game. Exactly how are EQ2, SWTOR, and Rift controls any different than WoW? Not trying to troll you or anything, but I also find it kind of odd that you use the term "unique" to describe a game while comparing its similarities to another. |

Originally posted by FrostWyrm It is very difficult to explain the differences unless you have played each one. I am sorry I cannot explain it better then this: SWTOR and EQ2 are slower paced then WoW, have a much lower skill cap, and are not balanced to small scale warfare. Since small scale warfare usually indicates balances on large scale warfare, EQ2 and SWTOR are even less balanced in their current iteration. But of course they don't even FOCUS on PVP whereas WoW's developers have taken great strides to balance WoW's pvp (even though they routinely have to incorporate PvE elements and ruin balance). Play the games at a competitive level then decide. "The WoW forums are and have always been, the true heartbeat of the game. Having said that... RIP wow. Originally posted by FrostWyrm I always thought of EQ2 as the adult version of WoW. SWTOR, however, is a massive co'op game. I don't consider it a MMO. |

Originally posted by TheHavok WoW doesn't "focus" on PvP either. In any case, it sounds like what you consider "better" is a purely PvP-based game. If thats the case, then our opinions on what makes a good MMO differ. |

well the mods do but they really dont do anything other than get in the way of free flowing exchange of ideas and ping forums on directions that were taking place several days in the past. does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |
