Look, you can say what you like. Its doesnt make it fact. The exact same article quotes these figures as also including the CoD new release, which incase you didnt know, its a EAs largest earner, as well as FIFA12 that sold over 10 million copies as well.
Given this, including SWTOR release and stock is still down 20%? Im not trying to start a forum pvp match here. I dont know you from adam and if you enjoy SWTOR thats good for you.
More than likely, you havent even hit 50 yet. You have zero idea about the exploits that are still running rampant and are extremely easy to use, faction imbalance on a scale never before seen in any game ever released in the history of the human race, buggy broken engine, skills that dont work, or work 10 seconds after the command. 100% total crap PvP, 100% total crap endgame PVE.
And you praise this game? Like i said, whatever. |

Originally posted by MartinZ Correct, a Majority are paying subscribers, do you personally think that logically speaking, considering most of the 2mil who bought the game pre ordered or bought it in the first month, waited to use their key codes? As the first month is over anyone who pre ordered or bought it in the first week or so of its launch (a majority of the 2 million) MUST be subscribed. Do you really think they are misleading you intentionally? Or do you think that a lot of people waited to activate their game? Or perhaps you are just pulling numbers out of thin air and throwing them at a wall and hoping something sticks? |

Originally posted by tristanryan Again, you don't address the issue people are discussing, you personally attack them repeatedly and distract from your own topic. Yet another straw man. Look, they MUST have a MAJORITY of the 1.7 people who are playing it paying. WHY? Because they released when their box sales were in several press releases, they even said they delivered a vast amount of boxes in December that were intended to go out in January, futher increasing the number of people who MUST be subscribed and paying to play if they are counted among the 1.7 million. Facts back up EA. |

Did I praise this game? No. I did not. I just see you trying to refute EA's claims any way you possibly can, and its sad and funny at the same time. You'd be better off just going back and finding all the BS Ricatello was spewing when Warhammer first released.

This isn't a debate. We have two direct claims from EA: 1. 1.7 million people with active accounts - confirmed by them to be either actual subs or people playing their free month 2. EA further stated that of those 1.7 million a majority are actual subs A majority is 51% or greater. Do the math. Anyone who has been following the death of large numbers of SWTOR servers with players begging Bioware to let them transfer off them or for server mergers can see that the 1.7 million number doesn't even make sense or is even possible.

but the 1 million concurrent is. OK. |

I also am very confused by the op's assessment. I believe that swtor is already experiencing a significant drop in subs. I believe that by March they'll have at best 50% what they had in December in terms of active subs. I have been a critic of this game in general. But EA is reporting that swtor "has generated 1.7 million active subscribers and sold through more than 2 million units in a little over one month." That's what it says. To say I need to read the article because it doesn't say this is just odd. And, since ea is publically traded, we can be fairly certain that these are accurate numbers. They never say 1.7 mil paid subscriptions. If the op's assessment is that 1.7 mil have not paid for a subscription, he is almost certainly correct since the first month was free. But 2 mil copies were bought and 1.7 of those were used to play the game. That's simply a documented fact. If it is an untrue documented fact then ea will be in a ton of legal trouble both from their stock holders and from the government. On a side note: only 2 mil copies purchased? This is actually fairly low compared to what people had assumed would be and had been sold. GW2 video review!! |

"Straw Man" the only words in your entire vocabulary? Do you even understand what a straw man arguement is? Read the problem;
1. When purchasing SWTOR, you must either A. Enter CC Info, or B. Enter prepaid game card info. You cannot even log into the game for the first free 30 days untill you do this. Every single person that has played the game and even already cancelled they are counting as "subscribers".
When in reality, then end of the quarter was only 1 or 2 weeks after the full release of the game. Now, given that the vast, vast majority of us didnt yet know what a steaming pile of crap we were given because it looks quite pretty on the outside before you get up close and smell the stink.
My point is, you think "Facts back up EA". Have you ever even dealt with EA before? Why dont you try a quick "google" and see how "factual" EA has been in the past with every single thing they have touched since 1998.
Get a clue. |

You think this game will be a "massive success" i have ocean front property in arizona to sell you, from my front porch you can see the sea, as george strait would recite it.
I find it laughable all the things the told us and SHOWED us before release and this is what we were given. And people like you enjoy it and eat it up. Hell, every "gameplay" video shown before release are NOT EVEN POSSIBLE to have as ingame settings. Its was "removed". Similar to everything else that was "advertised". LIke the massive world pvp anywhere and everywhere. And how tanking in pvp would be revolutionized. And how "story" was the fourth pillar, not "story" is the ONLY pillar.
As said above, im done. You win. You think this game has millions playing? LMFAO! My server is lucky to have enough rebs together to even run a flashpoint, much less go to illum. You're clueless, but, you win. |

Q: Blizzard's recently been quoted as saying players who dropped WoW to play Warhammer are already coming back. Is that something you've observed? ...................................... |

Originally posted by tristanrya I'm a 50 Assassin, not a Sorc, but hey you got the base class right I guess? I play on Prophecy of the Five, no joke I couldn't make a name like that up. Its generally "Heavy" to "Standard" depending when I log on, Normally my space station has 200 people on it, I see people doing dailies all the time and group up with them to do them, I never have problems finding an Illum op group to kill 'Pubs. Yeah my only problem is I wish I had rolled republic so I could have an ample supply of imperials to kill, the sad fact is the faction imbalance is very obvious on all servers (at least in my experience) and its kinda irritating they never planed for it. Yes EA is a terrible company, however generalizing everything EA makes as if every part of EA is the same is folly, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, so how can it really screw up what the right hand is doing?
Yes the game has problems, but factual deduction and logical reasoning give you the answer that yes they probably have AROUND 1.7m subscribers who are actually paying subscribers. What does "AROUND" mean? dunno, and just randomly guessing doesn't really benefit anyone.
P.S. Guy above me, please please don't assume like many do that as I said earlier in this post EA is a HUGE compay, trying to generalize it is entirely silly, you cannot assume that one part of a huge thing is going to produce anything at all related to what another part of a giant thing does. Look at Square Enix making Final Fantasy games, see how their 3 teams make VASTLY different games? Thats how EA is only WAY BIGGER!!! Lets all judge games on their individual failures and successes. Thank you. |
