... but I can't get into any of the content after that. I've played for the last month and I've gone through almost every starting class multiple times to try the advanced classes and the same thing happens every time... I do a few Warzones (which are fun those first few times, then become stale), do the first Flashpoint, grind through Coruscant or Dromund Kaas, if I even get through it, get bored. I got to the space combat on a few occasions and that was fun for like a half hour. I'm trying soooooo haaaaard to get into the game. lol I guess joining a guild could improve things if I got to know people, but I've been in a couple and every time there always seems to be someone that's my class talking about stuff happening in the story not far after I am and killing whatever motivation I have to continue that. The game isn't bad, and the graphics are great (Coruscant is amazing), but even after taking a break from MMO's for almost a year, this wasn't quite as refreshing an experience as I was hoping for. lol I think it's more my problem since most of it is similar to other MMO's out there, which I was already burnt out on. The first couple times I ran Esseles or Black Talon was fun as hell, though, as were the starting planets. There doesn't seem to be any long-term grab for me, though. :( I'll keep trying as long as I have access though, since I did just renew for another month anyway. |

It really is ok not to like a game. You can walk away. I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil |

I enjoy it on the earlier planets more as well but for me it is because there are so many players on them compared to later areas. They're just way more livelier in activity and chat. Plus grouping is a breeze on them. Later on it just seems players become way too spread out which can make many planets or areas seem like ghost towns. Not to mention chat is pretty much a non starter besides the ocassional poor soul saying "Lfg [insert quest here]" every few minutes or so more often than not to no avail.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

Funny, the starter planets and capital planets are my least favorite part. Probably because I played through all of them many times in beta. My live Stream:www.twitch.tv/dubyahite

Sounds like it's time to move away from traditional MMOs. Maybe try and look at some of the future FPS MMOs coming out? |

1-10 area isnt that bad, I did actually like it aswell. Nar Shaadar was one of the planets I wished to quit completly, didnt like it at all and it did suck. Actually with my second character I did quit two whole planets by just doing pvp to get the xp. (Except class quests which is single player anyway)
Maybe Planetside II will be interesting for you, at least the pvp is more exciting where quests are lacking hehe. |

Maybe your just tired of Copy Paste WoW clones like the rest of us.
Wait for GW2.. if your still bored after that, than you are just bored of MMORPGS.
The way mmo's were: Community, Exploration, Character Development, Conquest.
The way mmo's are now : Cut-Scenes,Cut-Scenes, Linear Story Telling, Cut-Scenes...

Sounds like what I call "2nd area syndrome" and I suffer from it in a lot of games. You are really enjoying the game, loving it infact and you are really excited to get out of the first zone/planet/area etc.... you get all your armor upgraded, get your new skills and all that cool stuff, then get all the quests in your area... You open up the map to look where you need to go and see this whole new expanse of undiscovered empty and just feel daunted and meh...its like starting over again. You have completed the first area and then its back to square one in a new area. I did experience this somewhat when I got to Coruscant on the republic side, but I did a few flashpoints, and Heroics and some PvP and quested through it.....then I got to the end of Coruscant and got my ship and wowwww lots of planets to goto, places to see, things to do. Im Level 36 now and I have quests ranging from level 30(still green) to 36 spread out over Tattoine, Alderan, Nar Shadaa and Balmorra :) Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom |

I had the same problem. The first area is very story focused and almost feels like an SPRPG. It basically distracts you from the typical MMORPG annoyances that would normally bother you. But after the first area...the story quests slow down. You do a more side quests and a lot more walking. And this is when you noticed the typical MMORPG annoyances... |

I think one of the things that kept me engrossed early wasn't just the story and early content, it was the idea of my character and how I wanted to play him. One big problem I have discovered is that NPC inteeraction and story content is meaningless so playing my guy as a dark or light didnt matter, and that was ok but it took away from character depth. Where the game really fails to hold my interest, and this is my opinion, is the class staleness. I have rolled about 4 different characters to taste what the different characters offer and I have come to realize that TOR characters really aren't flushed out.
While I dont like WoW, I did love that their chracters felt very differnt as in different healers healed differently, different tanks tanked differently, hell even the different specs for the same class played differently. TOR fails at this miserably. Both of my healers feel the exact same in different skins and no amount of story is going ot cover this up.

Like most games I've played its not fun if you don't have friends to play with you. The main reason I'm loving SWTOR is I've never played it solo, very group / co-op friendly game. If not the MOST co-op friendly mmo I've ever played. Thinking of trying TERA? Check out my guild on Basilisk Crag! We're actively recruiting! www.proxytera.enjin.com/ |

your problem is you keep starting over with new toons, no wonder your feeling burned out and bored... trying leveling one toon to 50... the later flashpoints are pretty cool and pvp becomes a lot more fun when you get higher level abilities.

Originally posted by monoth Actually I have a sith sorcerer (healing speccd) at 34 that I play solely with my wife when we can and a Jedi Sentinel I play with my friend (just made 31) when hes on his girlfriends account. The last class i tried where I got the impression was the commando speccd combat medic (got to 30 before I stopped). Now I know it isn't 50 but I don't think it should take to max level to figure out that my 2 healers play almost the exact same. The reason I play 3-4 toons is beacuse the account is only active for a month and I am forced to spread that time amongst myself and the other 2. Defend the game all you want but do try to keep from assuming I got my ideas from lack of trying the game myself. I dont need to be max level to know that not only do the classes mirror depending on which faction you chose, but the different classes lack their own identity. So no I don't blame myself, I blame lackluster lazy ass game design and lack of imagination. Good day and sorry I expect a little more to hold my interest. /edit. Thought I'd add that the OP was about the initial experience with the game so keep in mind my responses were in keeping with the topic, initial experiences. Reading comprehension ftw.
