Money in politics is the root of all political evil. It is corruption at it's worst. |
For those of you who dont know yet, that is the closest date for a triple A MMORPG to be released, which is TERA. So how will it impact SW:TOR subscriber base? Action paced korean Themepark with less grind than Korean games are known for. I think it will have some impact, I for sure will get it. |

I've had enough of the high heel wearing, short skirt dressing, oversize weapon using cartoon-fests so I'll be passing on TERA as well. "Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. I don't really care, I'll play Tera, and I'll come back to SWTOR, and I'll play TSW, and then I'll play GW2....
What kind of impact will SWTOR have on TERA when they release new content? What impact will GW2 have on TERA as they are both in the fantasy genre?
Play whats fun, who cares if theres an impact. TERA won't kill SWTOR, nor will it kill any other game, but if its fun, play it. Why should anything else matter? |

If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone. |

WIth OB plans underway for GW2, as well as i thought TSW was supposed to hit OB around april, I'm not sure that May 1st is the date of the first competition TOR will see. It won't impact it at all. I strongly suspect that they speak to different demographics. I also suspect that the casual players who play SWToR (non-gamers) probably never heard of Tera. For me all it means is that my game time will be fractured even more. |

TERA looks ok.. doubt it will be a hit in the US though.. looking forward to blade & soul more than TERA honestly. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/339443/Video-FollowUp-Guide-For-Enhancing-Graphics-and-Performance-in-SWTORSorry-still-Nvidia-Only.html |

Originally posted by Yamota LoL, believe me, nobody playing swtor atm care about tera online. And tera is not even a triple A mmo, it wont impact a game like swtor at all. it will be the death for AION, but thats all. |

Originally posted by Zekiah LMAO! yeah i'm not very interested in lineage 3 (i mean Tera) either. But more power to it if it's awesome! :D maybe it will show some other MMO's how it's DONE! At least that's towards the end of my semester so if i was magically interested in it suddenly then i'd have time to play it some.

Originally posted by Szasz The only reason I'm interested in TERA is the Phantasy Star-esque combat. PSO was my first "mmo" and I have a fondness for it... but word has it that PSO2 might not see a NA release. Had it been anything else, I would have likely passed as well. |

SWTOR will be well on it's way to FTP by May all on it's own, IMO. I doubt any new game will have a measurable impact on what's left. [Mod Edit] |

TERA is a full themepark based MMORPG, the kind that the OP has often claimed to despise, with an even faster leveling experience and less content than the OP complained about SWTOR to have. Its main and only really distinctive feature is its action oriented combat.
Not that I don't wish all who want to give TERA a try all the luck and fun they're looking for, but after the many (themepark) MMO hating posts I've seen pass by from the OP, this new enthusiasm for the purest themepark MMO of the upcoming batch is kind of silly and double standards at the least.
As for TERA, so far TSW is planned to be released in April, so it'll certainly be interesting how that'll go. Personally I'll give TSW a shot: love the non-standard fantasy/scifi theme with its modern day fantasy/horror setting, RvR sounds interesting as well as the whole no classes/no levels thing, and from what it looked like they seemed to hit the atmosphere as right as they did for AoC. Plus Tornquist is after Dreamfall and The Longest Journey a designer that I respect. |

Tera will have the same impact on SWTOR and Rift as Aion had on WoW, EQ2, and LOTRO: absolutely none. |

Tera will be niche at best and a flop at worst. To many mechanics in the game that will make many not give it a second thought. |

Tera plays nothing like an asian grinder.
apart from the visual style, it has a very unique gameplay and I'm sure that it will appeal to a very large audience
luckily, I got to play it already hehe and I was really impressed with 1 - graphics 2 - awesome unique real time gameplay, different for each class 3 - great story/atmosphere
it's sort of like a mixture of DCUO combat with LOTRO visuals and some asian lore here and there. my only beef with it was that the classes are too frigging sexy or childish. there was nothing in between. I felt like playing a neutral character, but it was either a Boobalina Gstringypants or a Fluffor McTeddibearings but if I were to assign a score to this title, I'd easily give it a 9 (swtor being a low 5 on my scale) more info here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4DtiKzuJMg&context=C3ff4907ADOEgsToPDskKffLYzdfZFAiVFbOk6SroQ (I sort of knew nothing about the game when I did this firstlook, so pardon the ignorance) |
