I actually have no idea why Blizzard does not what everyone else in the industry does on this. I'm sure this is hurting them in the long run as new players have to face a bigger and bigger monetary barrier to entry in the world. And they started out right! releasing the Battle chest with Vanilla and BC together for a cheaper price.... and there even rumors circulating of a WotLK battle chest... but that never materialized and while you do not need the expansions to play WoW, most people DO want them to enjoy the complete experience (like missing races/profession skills etc. if you do not have this or that expansion). As WoW has a great reneweal of players and they show this a lot with all the possibilities of inviting friends, give them some free time and faster levelling... and then you have to shell 100+ dollars if you want the whole game (barring special offers like on Black Friday). These two strategies (expensive old expansions - incentives to bring your non-wow players friends along) contradict each other. I'm sure their are many veterans of Vanilla WoW that did not like the direction this mmo was going at one point and stopped purchasing expansions, some MAY LIKE TO JUMP BACK IN. The game is old....It should only cost maybe $49.99 total for anyone. It would also be a smarter business practice. As of now many feel World of Warcraft's reputation is fading. If not Blizzard the company reputation will began to fade too. |

Originally posted by page I am sure blizzard have done the math and keeping expacs seperate brings in more money. Got to remember WoW is still a huge game - Smaller games would die if they didn't bundle all expacs together WoW is a different beast. |

its pretty clear that pandas are not the problem here..... the problem is that non asian ppl are mad because the next expansion is asian based and not westernized... WOTLK was nordic based and nobody cried, why cant MoP be asian without ppl hating it for being asian based? jelly fishes. If your going to complain, do it for good reasons (the things we all know are taking WoW down the hill), which is definitelly not the asian based expansion. |

I like the new expansion and still find it ridicolous that Blizzard does not offer the old ones at a cheaper price! We all know that the biggest revenue from a MMO is the subscriptions, not the box price... so why the heck? Activision makes Billions with WoW and they would do even more if it would cost 29.99 to get Vanilla+ all expansions but the last and another 19.99 or 29.99 for the latest expansion. i agree 100%. I dont play it anymore, but it is logical to think that many people would eventually try the game if they wouldnt have to buy every damn expansion + the pandarins in order to play it.

In other news... Blizzard is cutting the price of all their products, making it cheaper to buy the expansions one need (it is now 30 for Cata from 35 and I think it was 20 euros for WoTLK and I do not remember how much the battle chest costs, prolly another 20, so 75 total, still a tad high, but at least 100+ euros). Were they reading this thread???? ;) "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime" |

Okay guys they do offer Vanilla and TBC together... as in even if you just pick up a Vanilla box it comes with TBC and if you get a TBC box it comes with Vanilla....... This happened with some of my friends who wanted to play WoW and decided just to start off with the Vanilla box, but both fo their accounts were auto upgraded to TBC. So they have started down the path of combining the Xpacs... give them time. |

Well I never understand these complaints regarding the Panderan Race and this new expansion in general. They have been in the Warcraft Lore for a long time and the playerbase has asked for them for a long time. I even believe their were rumours of the Pandaren's being a playable race after the Bloodelf was annouced back in '07 for TBC. Well, it must be so hard for the devs, the players demand so much, blizzard gives it to them and they just throws it back in their faces! Nice.. I wonder if the players would truely be happy with anything though? I wonder if Blizzard came out with a completely different expansion, races, theme, etc they would react differently...or they'd just go out of their way to nit pick stuff out of that also? I simply do wonder... |
