I've played Lineage II since 2006 on official servers, but since it went F2P, bots have taken over, making the servers lag badly, crash and now NC even has set a running even to the last stage and 1 server is down 'till a fix is found' (ban bots IMO, but they don't dare). So I'm in for a new MMO with meaningful PvP as Lineage II had it. PvP where one fights for territory control, ownership of castles/fortresses and the alike. But...
I'm open for suggestions. I know we have TERA and ArcheAge on the horizon, and C9 starting soon in beta (hope I get invited), but till then I'd like to play something just to kill time (and players ;-)

Darkfall and Mortal Online are games that fit your preferences.
I would recommend Darkfall if you are looking for something to play for 4+ months.
I would recommend Mortal Online if you are looking for something to play for only a month or two (but beware its really buggy). NEWS FLASH! A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore Darkfall Online player and knew just what to do. |

I tried both games and didn'tlike either one. MO I bought and is probably the worst MMO out there (indeed, buggy like hell, but PvP is so meaningless there) Darkfall I tried in trial and went nuts of switching 1st person if I wanted to go in combat (not my style).
Thanks though ;) |

In the same boat as you, played Lin 2 on and off since 2004 originally on the Gustin server . Looks like its gonna be another bland year and the year after as well . Gonna try Guild wars 2 when it comes out . |

Reizla, if you find it plz let me know.
The only game i found with features close to L2 was PWI but i just cant play a game with so low quality animations. I try it 2 years ago, no idea how is now. HoTK (Heros of Three Kingdoms) is a 3 faction base game where you only choose your faction at lvl 40 or 50 (dont remember atm) and you are not forced to choose any faction, you can change faction whenever you want (with cash shop i think) and the week war for territorys was fun if wasnt the cash shop where some rich players kills entire armys of players. And again is a PW game, low quality in matter of mobs animations and here the cash shop is really heavy...
So, only PW did some games with features close to L2 imo, but PW games are low quality with a huge cash shop so not a option for me.
But ofc theres alot of games i never try it, so again if you find one plz, let me know too :) |

Try out Perpetuum. Its like Eve but on land. It really needs more players. Some islands are pvp some are not unless you flag. Also its a futuristic game and not a fantasy one if that matters. |

I played both EVE and Perpetuum (beta) and I frankly don't like the 'skill-over-time-growth' principle used. I have too much time at hand and won't see any progress in 'character' development, which makes playing dull for me on 'higher levels'. This 'skill-over-time-growth' also makes it pretty much unable to 'match' the vets in the game like you can in Lineage II. And most importantly, EVE has a 'hidden' and 'legal' RMT system... Just buy enough timecards and sell them as pilot-passes. Well, I pass for that. Leaving Lineage II for gold-selling where NCSoft doesn't do a thing about and I go to the next game that kinda makes it legal..? Then there is PWI... Yes, PvP is kinda the same system (which I love), but the game is way too much cash-shop dependant for that. And I certainly won't pay €1000 to gear myself to the top (I do hate Pay2Win PvP games) @all others - when I find the MMO, I'll give a yell. Right now I've applied for the TERA beta that's here on the site as well and (still) waiting for C9 VIP invite (from here too). I hope these 2 might be a good alternative for Lineage II... |
