Originally posted by forumtalker Yeah, how's that working out for them, and what is the longevity of this strategy? The problem is that story cannot replace gameplay in the long run. It has done a great job of hypnotizing some people who like stories written for kids/teenagers, and those who have never played a real story-driven single player game. More and more people are getting sick of it, spacebar hammering to get through it, and realizing that the actual gameplay, the part where you go do things, is lackluster to say the very least. I'm happy for those who like it as is. The number of people who hold that opinion is quickly shrinking. This game will ultimately turn out to be a short-term distraction for most, and a complete fail for many others. It will continue to make money as a niche MMO. I don't think that is what Bioware was expecting, but it will be the case. All I can think about is Star Citizen. |

{mod edit} This very well could be the EA masterplan. Hype and sell KOTRO 3 as an MMO. Sell as many possible, milk as many as possible for a few months sub fees then go F2P, sell as much CS goods as they can before the game dies. Next project, Mass Effect the MMO. |

They've guessed at how many people are online when the server population is "Light", "Heavy", "Full", etc. There's no correlation between real population numbers and the servers' populations. It's a guess. It might be a really good guess, but it's a guess. Join the League For Gamers. |

If i''m paying a monthly fee, i demand an unfinished game! |
To all people that are saying the gameplay is lacking... What is lacking? What i'm seeing is exactly what is expected from an MMO. The logic by some people on mmorpg.com is hilarious and most of the community doesn't even play MMOs. They either fantasize about an unreleased games or criticize/HATE the ones that are out. eqnext.wikia.com |

Obviously EA bought vgchartz, they also paid the reviews and are paying to each player to log into the game and make it looks like it's successful. It all a big scam to make you buy the game, the game is going to be f2p by this time next week.

The 2M is an extrapolation of actual sales, they're not there yet. At least not confirmed, though they aren't that far off. |

Originally posted by MindTrigger I grew up playing 1st Edition PnP D&D and still play at age 40 Edition 3.5 D&D which is now 4.0(?) which is all about storytelling, so for me "story driven" is my cup of tea, maybe not yours but a cup of tea either way. Like the "hypnotizing" and "kids/teenagers" line BTW, I have news for you ALL MMO's are fantasy land. Thanks for your doom and gloom. /brushes hand "This is not the thread your looking for"
