Look at that top 10 list though.  Tera and Blade&Soul?  The idea that they're pornographic is just sensationalism.  We're just talking revealing outfits, for the most part.  Nothing that partners would be ashamed to play together, or anything like that.

It's not a surprise really.  With hundreds of MMOs coming out every year over there, they're looking for every possible way to outdo each other.  It's obvious that sex sells in advertisements... so how do you outdo a character showing a good amount of skin?  Have yours show more.  And it continues until every character has a micro-bikini on.  Eventually nudity will probably become okay.  Once that happens, you'll have MMOs with no gear and everyone running around naked all the time.

I won't lie, Aion was a screw up but the closest thing to an Western MMO. I play Eastern MMOs for graphics and community but truth be told prefer Western MMO mechanics (namely, World of Warcraft as nearly all Western games have their combat system, and quest systems based on World of Warcraft).

What's up with NA as a whole? I don't think EU has a problem with "adult centric" MMOs (Age of Conan), but it seems like everyone in NA is afraid of bikini plate, wants "realism" (magic is realism amirite), or are just insecure about females running around in S&M suits dominating the battlefield.

Your thoughts?

There are something like 1,000 mmorpg released in Asia every year. Maybe more. Make 1,000 different versions of anything that you plan on selling, and one of those versions (or more) will revolve around using sex to sell it. You'd really just run out of reasons for people to buy your stuff.

if the game is rated 18+ no problems with adult content, viz. AoC. In fact I would prefer the company of other adults knowing they are adults. Non-adults would eventually be detected and booted. And what adults do is their business as long as it's legal. But it's a grey area no black and white. If you don't like it, don't play it, keep to the non-18+ games.

Every time the OP quotes someone its him telling them how wrong they are without actually taking into consideration the things they've said.  Take the OP's overly broad (and general) response to TROLL_HARD's post.  I'll go so far as to say that the OP hardly even responds to what TROLL_HARD actually says and instead just continues to spout of personal bias.

This thread was done the moment the OP posted, not to mention this thread has been done numerous times before and always devolves into the same thing.

Dragons: dinosaurs have existed right?  Dragons are essentially dinosaurs that can breath fire, sometimes not even.

Elves: Other forms of humans existed at one point.  At one time there were at least 3 different types of humanoids walking this planet.  Whats to say that elves as they are normally shown are impossible.

Magic: We only use something like 10% of our brains.  Whats to say that if we could use more we could slip into using some weird form of Quantam science or something else we dont know about?

Skimpy armor: Without any prior lore explanation all you have is Men wearing tons of armor while women oddly only need 1/10 of the coverage.  Last I knew, a womens skin cut just as easily as a mans.  Stop trying to blow up an issue just because you want more tits in your games.  If you want more tits then you should go to amazon, buy a new monitor, set it up next to your current and watch porn while you play. The rest of us will enjoy our games without it.  

When did it ever hurt to NOT have tits in your games?

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was designed with a "naked" model that they would use for clothing players.  A mod became available to make all players in the game constantly naked.

Bethesda was forced to recall 3M games and tag on a "Mature" logo on it instead of Teen.

It's not that people in North America don't want nudity in games, the regulatory boards stop it with parental ratings.

You must not live near where my parents do because thats not what I see when I look around. Its mid to upper middle class and I see plenty of pretty women at the store and certainly in cupcake shops. I'll give you the university.  But you seeminly ignored most of his post.

Magazine: Go to your supermarket, say walmart.  I guarntee you that within 15 seconds I could show you 3 mags with women in bathing suits on or some other outfit.

Sidewalk: Obviously depends on where you live, but to say that it doesnt happen where YOU live is to ignore the fact that your eye balls cover under a mile worth of sidewalk at any given time (usually).  Now, think about how big America is, then think about your little mile of sidewalk, then think about everyone who acts like the Kardashians in your town, then think about how big America is. As far as im concerned those graphics wont be what makes me stay or not in a game. Even though those MMO have barely clothed  female characters, they actually look good as well but without trying them i couldnt say for sure.

I think games get a much harsher treatment than real life advertizing does. Mabey its because people feel they can change the developers mind, which they cant in rl with advertizing. Funny thing though Gore is fine and dandy but nipples are the spawn of satan ... i guess il never understand extremist.
