"The one you call messiah is a lie"--- Gary Numan |
Most days I read my online newspaper each morning whilst eating breakfast and noticed this article after scrolling down in the science section today CLICK. I thought some people here would enjoy reading it too, Agricola

Did 2 million players really leave Wow this year? I heard between 1 and 1,5? And I don't think it is because those players are tired of fantasy as stated in the article. Still, amusing read. |

Ah jeez... Daily Mail :)
Interesting that it hit 1 million subscribers faster than WoW did, but then I sort of expected them to. Star Wars is a bigger and more popular franchise than Warcraft. Only gaming geeks knew about Warcraft before WoW whereas Star Wars has been in the Western public eye and mind since the 70s in many different forms of media : games, video games, movies, etc. Playing MUDs and MMOs since 1994. |

Originally posted by MurlockDance I think that the fact that the MMO genre is more than 10 times the size now as it was in december 2004, and that Wow took a few months before releasing in Europe also affect the matter. |

Nice share. I kind of wonder if when WoW starts bleeding subs, will it be a "when it rains, it pours" situation. |

I was wondering when I wrote my first post what would happen if ToR released in Asia. I think people in Japan know Star Wars, but how about in China? The only way that ToR could unseat WoW in the world is if it could capture the Chinese market, because that is where the bulk of the WoW players are. Playing MUDs and MMOs since 1994. |

Nice. Too bad of the uninformed quoting: "Dark Side is narrowly ahead: 810,000 Jedi created, 850,000 Sith", giving you the impression those are total character numbers while it's "Over 850,000 Sith Warriors and over 810,000 Jedi Knights created". |

This is the Daily Mail, the 2 million missing from Warcraft, are probably going to be claiming asylum in the UK.
*Please help me, I have been brainwashed. |

I love reading the daily mail, not to take it seriously, but because it is the ultimate troll paper. Edit: Read the article myself and found this: "The world of Old Republic is far bigger than the world of the films - but gamers should expect to see familiar faces." Do they mean shouldn't? Its 4000 years BBY, who on earth is going to be alive during the games era? Not even Yoda my friends. |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

When the link provided is to the Daily Mail you'd be as well clicking on something that says Candid Camera or Beadle's About. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. |

Originally posted by Beachcomber LoL some truth in that . The facist rag as we call it here . Its a tabloid paper (you know the type that hack peoples phones) and I would seriously doubt anything thats written in it and anyone thats stupid enough to believe it . That aside I have seen articles about it similar articles in other newspapers like the Independant, Guardian and Times that echo whats written here . Also you have to look at Google news to realise that ToR is a big deal . It must really ranker with wth trolls that inspite of all the threads here they cant stop the word of mouth popularity thats spreading and thier bull **** isn't effecting sales one iota . The facts are ToR is solid and polished. Its fun to play and worth the money . As for the Warcraft subs I think its quite possible if ToR becomes the new cool amongst teens and children and given fitting in with your friends is important at a young age WoW could see an exodus of biblical proportions . Lots of people dont think this is possible but I saw how much disquiet there was in the WoW community about MoP quite frankly most people couldn't believe it or were underwealmed by it . |

Wonder if EA paid for that review as it makes it look like the best thing since sliced bread,i'm willing to wager the so called journo as never touched a game in their entire life a s well, and where do they get the hundreds of planets thing from thought it was 17 at launch The game includes hundreds of planets to explore - gamers can captain spaceships, command crews, make millions, and even turn to the Dark Side

Originally posted by Agricola1 I would hardly say such bile is easy reading first thing in the morning .Its biggoted and reactionary and it twists the truth . The same is true of all the tabloids over here . I think Americans would be shocked at the state of the British press . I have a very low opinion of anyone that reads any tabloid especially after what I've seen in the levison enquiry . Sorry but reading Private Eye doesn't offset you support a biggoted and corrupt press . |

So Agricola are you a xenophobic, middle class snob with a taste in sensationalist propaganda to inflame people so your newspaper of choice is read by more narrow minded sychophants? Only kidding
AS some have said because of the wild success of WoW when a pretender to the throne appears, as TOR is looking to be, would it see a similar dramatic fall of Roman Empire proportions? I hope not as I hope GW2 does well and TSW so we have competition in the market place and all the sandboxers might get a game they can play and we'd at last have peace around these boards. Yeah I know a bloody dreamer thats me. |

That so many wow players go to play swtor is optimistic :) Biggest launch ever .. is true but then did not wow only expect 2 million players max :P WOW has hamster wheel game play and swtor is?
It is a cute article for news for non gamers :) |
