Money in politics is the root of all political evil. It is corruption at it's worst. |
First of all I know that alot of people dont consider XFire reliable so if you dont then dont post it for the zillionth time, you dont like XFire, WE GET IT! Ok, now that is over let's look at WoW's numbers: http://www.xfire.com/games/wow/World_of_Warcraft/ It seems that the peak it had before SW:TOR open beta was around 115 000 and now it is just under 100 000, that is little over 10% drop. Could be because of SW:TOR or could be because of holidays. I am betting on the former one. So I guess Blizzard can relax, 10% drop ain't that bad. |

well considering people thought wow would lose at least half there player base for this game yea it's not bad at all. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/339443/Video-FollowUp-Guide-For-Enhancing-Graphics-and-Performance-in-SWTORSorry-still-Nvidia-Only.html |

Re-examine in six months. The drop then will mean something. Right now, it's just the regular post-launch jumpies. |

Originally posted by Unlight Well Blizzard did say that when the next new triple A MMORPG was released they always noticed a drop in players but most of them eventually returned. Will be interesting to see if the same happens for SW:TOR launch. |

Originally posted by Creslin321 Course not, WoW could easily lose a million to Pandas alone. A more pointed question might be: Is this what's really the motivating factor behind the continual fanboy/hater wars, WoW vs TOR? Too old for this, am I. |

Principally I want to ask: Who cares about World of Warcraft and why? I mean, yes. For those which have grown up with that game, it was a great one. It's like with every other game out there. When his time has come, it gets boring. And principally that's the point. Theme Park oriented games get boring after a big while. I never figured out, why and how people can - during a looooong period - everytime and everyday do the same shit? And I have an answer for it! People don't know it better. It means, they didn't have tasted other projects. And now, what occured to World of Warcraft? It got so monotonic, that people are pleased to feel a fresh wind. Well, finally, another Theme Park. SW:TOR is just another game created by a big studio, which will tell you what you should / need / must do - and even what you aren't able to do. Pretty boring, but a good deal for those, who like to play along the storylane. In near future, there will be another hand full of games, which will poke out SW:TOR - with the same concept. But, I need to admit, I cannot understand people, which do All-Ins with over 15-Month-Subscriptions, without having tasted those games, which will come out! Be patient guys. You need alternatives :-) Sprinty Sprintfox |

This is why blizz was smart with their free Diablo III offer for 1 year sub. They know that many of their players will try out other games this year, and lots of PC gamers in general are going to play D3. It's easier to come "home" if you have a running sub. As people keep saying, nothing means much during an MMO's launch, 3-6 months down the road is when a more accurate assessment can be made. |

Originally posted by Rusque Absolutely agree with that. People need to wait a while, before taking decisions. It's just the beginning hype, and I personally hope, that some will begin to be a little bit more skeptical, before going all in with a new project. Sprinty Sprintfox |

Originally posted by Icewhite 10% is not much ? Maybe for us, but not for a company like blizzard. A normal vital company have to make 10% more profit a year, with the lose of so many peaple there will be rolling heads at blizzard...
And this just has startet, comes GW2 , goes another 10%. SW again 10%... Tera, ArchAge xx% Its the beginning of the dawn of wow. |

Oh no, I don't think so. Even WITH the loss of more than a million this year, their profits are up for each quarter. More like bonuses will roll :D! |

Originally posted by StanlyStanko I smell the irony! Nah... There is nothing what will rescue them anymore. The space between a proper content release and the one, which was already given, were too big. Instead of splitting up into the opinions of continuos whiners and hardcore-pvp'ers didn't make the big deal for them. There is at least nearly no kind of challenge anymore. And those, I need to admit, cool interactive add-ons like Zombies vs. Plants and so on, had to be implement much earlier. And btw... Blizzard knew that this point will come. So, they're working actually on a new MMORPG-Project and on the other side on Diablo 3. So... I do not think that they have any kind of problems. Sprinty Sprintfox |
