Let me say I did not buy into the hype on this game, wasn't even going to pick it up. Also, I took a lot of the negative comments I saw on here with a grain of salt. Yesterday I picked it up on a whim. So far I am pleasantly surprised. Will have more to say after I play longer. |

I have only just started playing, and while I find the VO Quest Presentation to be inovative, I am not very impressed with the game.
Imo, it plays a typical MMO, but with VO Quest Presentation.
My disappointment is that it feels like they took a basic 2007 MMO, and slapped the VO's onto it --- instead of developming a 2012 MMO as the foundation.
There are things that you see immediately, that other MMOs just do better. Most of it is the little things, but they seem to be piling up into a big pile. For example, 2012, and this is the 'best' running and jumping animations that BW could present? I expecting to see something better than or on par with the best of WoW -- considering it was animated in 2004.

Originally posted by Loekii I basically agree, but I don't even find VO to be an "innovative" feature. It's more like a big-budget, blockbuster feature. Kind of like "awesome special effects!" are in movies. You don't really need to be innovative to fully voice anything, you just need a whole lot of money :). So I basically see SWTOR as the "Michael Bay" of MMORPGs. |

Originally posted by Loekii Uh.. what the heck is a "2007 MMO?" The way I see it, there hasn't really been an MMO that has made waves since WoW back in 2004. And many would consider WoW a clone (including myself) of the many MMOs before it such as Everquest and some features from Daoc. WoW was basically just a better implemented clone. SWTOR is basically a better implemented version of WoW and WAR, the way I see it. It's going to have the awesome pve of WoW and the best elements of WAR (once we see what they have planned for ilum, that is) with the added innovation of VO in an mmo. The way I see this playing out is that SWTOR is going to be a huge sucess and there's going to be your typical haters out there much like WoW had its haters. Haters never tear down a game like WoW and swtor, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c |

I agree with everyone so far. It could be a lot more innovative but they started developing awhile back where that game play had to be there to be successful, so I understand why they did it, but the classic formaula is getting old for us vets to the genre. However the voice acting and stories are done pretty darn well and they seem to keep me going. I believe BW is getting the feel of mmo's and knows they have a lot more work to do to make it really special, I have faith in them, but we will see |

Originally posted by marquisk2 Lol! Sooo specific. /sarcasm off How can you come to the conclusion that "WAR's pvp is better" when nobody has even tried Ilum yet? Open world pvp is a HUGE part of the package of evaluating pvp in an mmo, after all. The way I see it, the instanced pvp already in game is pretty much on par with WAR. The true determining factor will be Ilum, imho. Will it have the lame instances of WAR pulling down open world pvp or will it go the route of daoc which was pretty much instance free? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c |
