at least toro has 4 class side quets that at least the 40% are class based and rest for all

in other MMOs are only 1 with lesser class based quests

and in all MMOs all alts doing the same thing over and over again

not true.. in rift for example I had so many quest I never finished at least three of the 30-50 zones or even visted them with several of my characters cause I was already level 50 by the time i finished quests in other zones.. Also I leveld 2 characters there without even questing and just through PVP, invasions, and dungeons.. although this game does have an advantage of a much better main quest.. thing is repeat content is inevitable in an MMO which is why gameplay needs to make up for this fact...

Whew...yea needs fix'n :/

Though I didn't think this game would be heavy on replayability due to the questing, I think just roling two characters each on different factions would help...I guess?

Try to argue this please.

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D

Yeah... some of it is pretty amazing.

I loved how the first quest I received on Taris (the ruined swampy city world) was to go find a toolbox... a collection of music... a dirty shoe... and a rake.  Just GRIPPING dialogue... award winning stuff.

Well, if you prefer go kill ten rats as the starter mission/quest, there are plenty of games that offer that.

you still do that though.. maybe not rats but don't try to pretend the starter quests are anything but this same old crap every MMO has with a nice VO cover up

Sure there are.  They're just playing the game, not complaing on forums.

BTW, I do agree that it would be good to have other questing options/areas available.  Maybe thats something they have planned for the future.  I think the class storyline ties their hand a bit, though.

Wait, there aren't several different starting zones and multple ensuing quest paths?

not really.. well if several you mean 4 then yes and besides your main class quests all the side quests are the same.. unfortunatly the starter planets aren't very interesting to want to actually play through them multiple times

Is this sarcasm, or are you really calling the level 20-24(?) planet a starting area?  I keep seeing people do this, like everything below level 30 is a painful starting area, but maybe I'm misunderstanding?

PVP is a very good source of xp and gear. On my alt, I am just pvping and doing story quests / side quests I like (no computer chips ever again). I really like this btw, the freedom to level anyway you enjoy doing so is great.

Ok now some trolls are just reaching...the start areas are better than any other mmo out there, but now they aren't good enough? Clearly, there is no pleasing some of you whiny kids who can't appreciate something good.

even though the starting areas arent the best for people like me who role various alts, i take SWTOR's starting areas over Rift's anytime.

All I know is that I'm having a lot of fun with my Alts already, so much that at times I have a hard time deciding which to play.  I have them split between republic and empire and I'm not playing the redundant classes yet, so everything is fresh and fun.  I can't say how long that will last, but this will easily last me a few months and I can re-evaluate it then.

Bioware already said, they have been working on new planets and quests for some time now. The tools they created to do so, makes it very easy to add in new content.

I think it would be easy to rectify the problem some of you have when leveling a alt. All they would have to do is add in a few more low level and teen level planets that can be shuttled to from your starter and capital planets before you get your ship.

Once you get your ship though, from my expierence so far, everything opens up pretty good.

I am not a big proponent of believing nor having faith in developers.   Seen far too many 'plans' that take for ever to appear or simply never do.

I hope BW is working on seeding all planets with multiple levels of content and alternate story paths -- for example having the class stories become open enough that you can follow them on different planets (creating a parallel to class progression in WoW, for example).

Let's get to the real truth or the meat of this. So many people want to compare this to WOW and then break it down to look like a lesser version, which it's not, it's actually much more. Really, what is the percent of people who played or still is playing WOW that actually sit's and reads every text line for a quest. I know i never did, i know many many people who didn't either.

What's the deal. So in WOW you could go to another area, run through a city, grab all the quests without ever reading what that pertained and where to go, thxs to quest finder and map finder and all that other bull.

The very first time you stepped into WOW,  most probably paid more attention to the quest line and such, but after that and creating a alt, it's just zipping through the area gather all quests and balling to end level.

The probelm i see, with people that are bitching about creating an alt and having to do the same world quests, is just about having to not sit through the VO once again. I hope people understand that they can hit their SB to advance the VO and be done with it very fast.

Since the early access started i leveled a sith Assassin, all the way to like15 when i got my ship. Kinda felt like i want a force user that had more saber skills and survivability and rolled a warrior. Totally different class quests, all the same world quests. Since i'm not a person that wants to rush to end level i skip nothing. How hard would it be to just skip the VO part if you don't want to hear that again.

I have confidence in Bioware, i really do. I'm not a blind fan so to speak, but they talked the talk and walked the walk with this game. Like it or hate it, they created and have done what they set out to do. I'm sure when they say they already have been working on new planets and other stuff, they mean that. Their listening and i do believe that they care enough about this game to add those things that the communtiy feels is lacking.

The game has been built on a very solid foundation. Just think how much this game has to offer on release. Think about how much more it will be 6 months or a year from now.

So the idea of playing an alt for their class story sounded awesome to me at first, but I've got to tell you, the thoughts of having to go back through some of these zones just feels icky.  The first time through was helped by the story of the quests, but if you've already seen that once, twice, three times before, that whole extra is kind of over with - and some of this questing and zones just are NOT very fun.

agreed starter zones are pretty bland and it makes it hard to want to go through them again.. even as differn't class.. I did bounty hunter during beta then imperial agent for pre-release.. Hutta is just dreadfull...

Not just the starter zones tho. There is barely enough missions on each planet to get you through the levels. You are pretty much forced to do every single side quest there is! Or you end up short!

So on ALT's you end up doing the EXACT SAME side quests (and ALL of them) all over again... and again.

Ummm I've skipped most of nar shadda and I did maybe half of Taris.... and I'm not behind the levels of my current quests...  What is your malfunction?  Are you skipping something you shouldn't??

That information is incorrect.  I easily had anywhere from 8+ non-heroic quest left on most of the planets I went to.  Throw in heroics (I pretty much skipped them all, minus one or two on Tatoonie) and I'd easily  have 10 or more quest left per planet all the way up to Voss.  The only planet that doesn't would be Quesh (sp?).

If you are running out of quest on planets you are doing something wrong.  There is easily enough quest on each planet to put you a level or more pass their recommend level cap.

In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.

I will probably play ONE empire class and ONE republic class and that's even one class more than I usually roll in MMOs... Yes different story etc. but most quests are the same!

Not only that, the PvP, ship missions and Flashpoints give stupid amounts of exp. You often end up overleveled for a zone if you do everything the game has to offer, including crafting.

I have a feeling some trolls are just grinding quests like they do in every other mmos for the 'speed run'.

I was just in a party with a guy today who everytime we got to a hub, he'd be out of ready to go in like.. 10 secs. When I asked him was he skipping all the cutscenes, he said "yes". When I asked him did he do these before (in early betas) he said "No".

Then I asked why he just hit spacebar all the time and waited around for me to watch them and he said "I'm just trying to get to max". When I asked how long he was on, he said he hadn't logged out for 11 hours straight.

This is what the mmo genre has come to. Players who've been trained that mmos are just something to 'level in', and then go to the next game.
