Bioware have kinda been Blizzards Arch nemesis since Diablo and Baldurs gate where up against eachother. Making an MMO makes sense then.

And if you were the CEO of EA and wanted to take a bit bite out of Activisions almost monopoly on MMOs (yeah, that is changing now but they were close to monopoly when EA bought BW) which company would you put into making the new MMO?

Since Mythic failed badly Bioware really is the only EA company that could make a huge MMO. Most companies they own are just making out crap nowadays that never would get any monthly fees.

But I agree, they should have made KOTOR 3 instead and made a MMO based on Neverwinter nights instead. The mechanics and world would have been better for a MMO (not that I am saying that the current one is bad, but FR would just be better).

And for people saying they want a new swg.. WHY?. SWG had game breaking bugs from the start that never got  fixed the whole thing was incomplete piece of garbage.

As far as what MMO Bioware should have made, my vote is for Mass Effect.  I much prefer that universe to the Star Wars universe. Not to say that I hate Star Wars, I just feel like the Mass Effect universe is a lot more Sci-Fi and a lot less space fantasy.  

Maybe some day, they'll get that Mass Effect mmo out, but I guess they would need some more action based combat for that (hopefully).

A Futuristic MMO might be just what they need to step away from the usuall fantasy settings.

I think they figured that the Star wars IP will sell more. The same is not neccesarily true against Forgotten realms, there are still a few millions RPers that remember it with foundness.

But yeah, ME would have worked fine as a MMO.

Agreed, but turning NWN to a MMO would have also been a rather welcome change, NWNs mechanics is rather different from the usual MMO ones.

Here they kept the usual mechanics but used a space opera setting instead, I am not 100% convinced that it will feel like a step up after a few weeks playing it.

They could of course have done a lot worse as well. Like *shudders* Dragon age.

With technology like Phasing and instancing its really easy to tell an epic story where your choices actually effect the game world, which is what they did.

So I don't see where your complaint comes from at all.

none of your choices have any effect on the game world as a whole.. choose to kill someone they will be alive a min later so the next person can decide if they want to kill them or not.. my biggest issue is the choices can't have as big of impact since its a MMO. Also i stated it before they could have at least created flags for your character that all npcs react to depending on the choices you made but the fact none of the npcs in the game really don't have any emotion or actual AI aside from quest givers it makes this sort of porgramming pointless

And after you beat it, you would come back to this site complaining that there were no new MMOs to play.

and im sure if this wasn't star wars 75% of the people playing wouldn't have played more than the stress weekened.. honestly if it was a no name universe and game was released it would be considering a major failure of a game.. Luckily they have a big franchise behind it to leech peoples money from. I'm not going to say I'm any better cause I'm honestly going ot play just for the fact that it's star wars and i love star wars. If this was the world of tabula rasa or something along those  lines I wouldn't of thought twice about canceling my pre-order.
